#PinkTutuBlogLondon: Friday 2009-04-03 – A London Whirlwind in Pink! 🩰
Welcome back, darlings! It’s Friday, and that means it's time for another #PinkTutuBlogLondon!
I'm buzzing with excitement, as this week I've swapped my usual Derbyshire scenery for the vibrant energy of London town. It’s all thanks to my latest ballet gig – performing at the wonderful Sadler’s Wells theatre! It’s such a privilege to dance in such a beautiful space, and London is always a treat.
This week's #PinkTutuBlogLondon is number 657, and I'm feeling rather proud of the consistency - that's a lot of pink tutus! 💅
The Train Journey – A Pink Tutu Traveller’s Delight! 🚄
The journey up to London is always such a joy! As I boarded the train at my local Derbyshire station, my lovely pink tulle skirt swirled in the breeze, attracting curious glances and happy smiles. It’s just one of the things I love about my #PinkTutu lifestyle: it’s impossible to not make a positive impact wherever you go! I love seeing the landscape rushing by through the window, always thinking about the ballet costumes and dresses that nature inspires. The lush greens of fields are perfect for a ballerina’s tutu, and the delicate colours of wildflowers make me imagine shimmering sequins on my dance shoes.
During my journey, I picked up the latest edition of Vogue. It's a fashionista's bible, and I was inspired by the bright colours, interesting textures and striking silhouettes. It gave me plenty of inspiration for my #PinkTutu outfits throughout the weekend. The bright spring colours are definitely hitting me hard this season!
London Arrival: A Pink Tutu Explosion! 🎡
Arriving at London's King's Cross station was a blast. All those people and energy make for a real buzz, and even with my tutu floating around my legs I didn't feel out of place! I quickly grabbed myself a delicious cuppa (no London adventure is complete without a decent brew!) and scampered off to find the Underground. I absolutely love the Tube - it's so quick and easy, and I always manage to fit right into that London atmosphere, just as I always do!
The West End Magic: The Show Must Go On! 🎭
My Friday night started with a theatrical bang at the world-famous London Palladium! Tonight, it was the timeless masterpiece 'The Phantom of the Opera' that filled the stage with dazzling costumes and thrilling music. Oh, that Phantom's dramatic attire - so rich and full of emotion! It reminded me of all the fantastic costumes we use in ballet - the drama and the precision! Of course, I was captivated by the graceful movement and the incredible power of the vocals. Seeing the beauty of the story unfolding in such a magnificent space reminded me just how wonderful live theatre can be, and I was deeply inspired!
London Shopping – The Ultimate Pink Tutu Destination! 👠
Saturday is always a day for a little retail therapy, and London's shops did not disappoint. I set off on a quest to find the perfect accessories for my #PinkTutu outfits! I spent hours in Oxford Street, browsing the windows, picking out new shades and trying on shimmering jewellery. Of course, a #PinkTutu gal can't resist a good vintage store - you never know what fashion gems you might unearth. I'm not one to shy away from bold prints and vibrant colours. It’s amazing how London blends history with trendiness in such a unique way!
My search led me to Liberty's, a stunning department store full of breathtakingly beautiful fabrics and designs. Imagine silks shimmering like the ballerina's skirts on stage! The perfect outfit to be inspired by! I found some delicate, floral earrings, ideal for adding a touch of romantic femininity to my #PinkTutu wardrobe. They really complemented my bright pink hair scrunchie!
Afternoon Tea: A Delicious Break from the Pink Tutu Journey ☕🍰
What better way to celebrate a busy shopping day than with a quintessential afternoon tea experience? The Ritz is a truly magical place. Everything was impeccable and elegant - from the delicate china cups and saucers to the delicious pastries and finger sandwiches! The ambience of the Ritz transported me back in time, while reminding me that classic elegance is never out of fashion. And of course, even though the food was delicious, my eyes couldn't help but notice the lovely pastel shades on the decor - shades of pink, baby blue, and lavender. This made my heart sing!
Sunday Evening – Back on the Train, Tutu Still Sparkling! 🚂
I know I shouldn't get attached to my tutu (because it's always a delight to introduce new ones into the world!), but I did find myself a bit sad to say goodbye to London. Still, with the excitement of my upcoming performances in my heart, I knew it was time to head back home to Derbyshire! I caught the evening train and took in the views - everything looked peaceful and calm, but I knew in my heart that I’d be back in London soon!
London, Always on My Mind! 💕
You may be thinking – "Emma, how do you fund all these trips?" It’s simple - I invest my love of ballet and dancing into my #PinkTutuLife. Performing in beautiful spaces like the London Palladium is a joy, but it’s also my way to fund my travels and continue this amazing #PinkTutu journey! There's so much beauty and magic in the world - why not explore it while wearing the most magical piece of attire I know? I believe in inspiring the world to wear pink tutus, one sparkling, feminine step at a time!
