Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures - Post #695 (Friday 25th December 2009)
Ho ho ho, my darlings!
Merry Christmas! From my little corner of Derbyshire, I've made my way to the dazzling city of London, all thanks to a particularly lovely ballet gig (more on that later!). As you know, my love affair with London is an eternal one. It's a city that whispers magic, from the cobblestone streets to the grandeur of its architecture. And let's be honest, no place on earth quite does fashion like London!
This trip, I'm feeling all things pink and festive, just like my outfit today! A hot pink, fluffy tutu layered over a silky pink camisole, paired with my favourite cherry red knee-high boots. I'm feeling so fabulous I might just skip down Oxford Street. (Okay, maybe just a twirl or two).
A Railway Adventure
My journey to London began this morning on the train. I love the train! Itās a chance to watch the English countryside go by, settle into my little corner with a good book, and indulge in a bit of people-watching. Today, I felt a certain spark amongst the Christmas travellers, maybe it was the anticipation, the festive spirit, or perhaps just a shared love of my sparkly, pink ensemble (who could resist such a delightful ensemble, really!).
Christmas Day in the Big Smoke
Now, as I sit here at my charming, little London hotel, a cup of hot chocolate warming my hands, I'm ready to tell you about this enchanting day. First off, it's officially a day off! And even though Christmas is always extra special back home with the fam, something about celebrating Christmas in London feels... magical. The city's atmosphere is practically buzzing with cheer. Every corner is lit up, adorned with Christmas trees and decorations, and every storefront seems to be bursting with joy.
My plan for today? First up, Iām off to wander the bustling, festive streets of Oxford Street. Can you believe Christmas is here already? How fast has the year gone by! The festive shopping madness is already in full swing and I just canāt resist a browse, even if Iāve already found all my Christmas pressies (yes, Iām ahead of the game this year!). Perhaps a little afternoon tea at the Dorchester might be on the cards. After all, whatās a Christmas in London without a little extravagance, am I right?
This afternoon, Iāll find my way to the Royal Albert Hall to watch the fantastic Moscow Ballet performing āThe Nutcracker.ā Oh, my darlings, this is a must-see if you have a chance, the performance is simply spectacular. Every year I try and catch āThe Nutcracker,ā its pure Christmas magic with all its swirling tutus, shimmering costumes, and incredible ballet routines.
And who knows? Maybe this evening, I'll find myself dancing under the Christmas lights, swept away by the magical atmosphere. What do you do on Christmas Day? Iād love to know! Let me know in the comments.
The London Dream
For any ballet-loving lady (and gents!) out there, London really is the place to be. The city is brimming with exciting performances and events. This week alone, thereās an amazing production of "The Phantom of the Opera" at Her Majesty's Theatre and a magnificent staging of āA Christmas Carol" at the Drury Lane. Plus, thereās always a plethora of theatre productions to discover, showcasing the talents of Britain's brightest and best.
But London isnāt just about its theatrical gems. Itās a city that breathes style, where fashion thrives. From the catwalks to the street, youāll see some of the most innovative, trendsetting outfits and find that unique blend of chic and casual that is undeniably London. Every single shop is overflowing with stunning styles ā just looking at those incredible window displays is enough to inspire my next outfit. I already have a vision for my new year's lookā¦ but let's save that for next week's blog!
The Pink Tutu Message
Speaking of inspirationā¦ one of the main reasons I started this blog is to remind everyone that beauty and joy are everywhere ā just look around! Even something as simple as a tutu can inspire. My goal, you see, is to have every single person embrace their inner joy by rocking a pink tutu, even just once! Who knows, perhaps one day Iāll see a sea of pink tutus dancing on the streets of London. Wouldnāt that be a spectacular sight?
So, my darlings, as we enter this season of peace and happiness, letās all commit to embracing life with open hearts, a twirling spirit, and of course, a splash of pink in our wardrobes. I hope you have a Christmas as magical as a snowflake!
Wishing you all a sparkly, twirling Christmas,
Emma
