Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! - Post #839

Hello darlings!

It's Friday, the sun is shining (okay, it might be drizzling slightly, but still!), and I'm sitting here in my pinkest, fluffiest tutu, sipping on a steaming mug of Earl Grey and writing to you all from the heart of London!

This week's adventure took me on a delightful train journey from my little slice of Derbyshire heaven right to the bustling capital, all thanks to the lovely ballet performances that have been keeping me financially afloat - and happy, of course! The excitement of stepping off the train and into the energetic rhythm of London never fails to lift my spirits.

It's official: I'm in love with London! And it's a love affair that blooms every Friday, right here on PinkTutu.com, as I share my adventures with you all.

So, what's on the agenda for this Friday? Well, darlings, let me tell you! I've got a packed itinerary - but don't worry, you'll get to enjoy every second of it with me!

Morning: A Tutu-rific Breakfast at The Ivy!

We all know that a girl's got to start her day right, and I'm not just talking about a good cup of tea. So, I started my day with a delectable breakfast at The Ivy, a London institution, a true haven of glamour and charm. It's got a lovely, classic ambiance, with its floral patterned wallpaper and soft lighting, which really set the tone for a fantastic day.

Their breakfast was heavenly - think freshly squeezed orange juice, perfectly poached eggs on avocado toast, and fluffy pancakes smothered in delicious maple syrup. And of course, a perfectly brewed cuppa to top it all off. Now, I wouldn't be me without a little pink flair, so I accessorized with a gorgeous pastel pink satin ribbon in my hair, tied in a bow just above my ear - a touch of Parisian chic that goes with everything!

Afternoon: A Cultural Journey Through London's Heart

After breakfast, I hit the streets to explore the city! My trusty travel map, my trusty phone's GPS, and my pink sparkly trainers led the way as I journeyed through London's vibrant streets. My first stop was Covent Garden, the epitome of London's theatre scene. As I walked through the Market Square, with its impressive Victorian architecture and eclectic street performers, I was practically bouncing with excitement.

Oh, did I mention that I bought myself a gorgeous silk flower to adorn my tutu, all while listening to some impressive buskers. Now, I just need a little dance!

Next, a quick jaunt to Westminster to admire the majestic Houses of Parliament. Those gothic spires never fail to take my breath away. The sheer history of the place is overwhelming.

The day wouldn't be complete without a visit to Buckingham Palace! It was an absolute joy to stroll past the grand palace, soak in the royal grandeur, and, of course, get a picture with a rather magnificent Guardsman - let's just say my pink tutu definitely added some vibrant energy to his regimented posture!

Evening: The Ballet - The Real Reason I'm Here!

As much as I adore the thrill of London shopping and sightseeing, my real purpose for coming here was, of course, to see a stunning ballet show at the Royal Opera House! And what an evening it was. This is the magic I live for! The costumes, the music, the choreography, and of course, the incredible talent on stage… I've already got my ticket booked for next month!

Did you know? London has so many incredible theatres, with performances that cater to all tastes, from classic West End productions to smaller, more intimate shows. London truly is a stage-lover's paradise. I just love the magic that theatres bring!

Late Night: Dancing Through Covent Garden

I wouldn't be true to my pink tutu self if I didn't enjoy a bit of after-ballet fun! A glass of fizz at one of Covent Garden's bustling cafes - followed by some cheeky twirling as the music filled the street. This, my darlings, is where the magic happens!

I absolutely love Covent Garden's atmosphere; the mix of people from all walks of life, the vibrant buskers, the delicious street food, the excitement that hangs in the air – it's such an amazing, exhilarating place! I have a few favorite cafes in the area, with adorable floral-patterned armchairs, perfect for my pink tutu.

My tip: Always pack a comfortable pair of shoes in your bag! It’s perfect for exploring London’s many walkways and, let’s be honest, you need to be ready for the tiniest of dance opportunities that might just appear while you’re out and about!

London in September

As I wander through this beautiful city, I can’t help but notice the colours. There are shades of deep burgundy from the wisteria climbing the houses, golden yellow as the leaves start to turn on the trees, and the perfect pink sky of a London sunset. The city is alive, a place of boundless energy, full of fashionistas, theatre-lovers, and dreamers!

I must confess: I have a very special affinity with September. It feels like a brand-new season that gives London this unique sense of revival, a breath of fresh air after a long, lazy summer.

The best thing about visiting London in September? The weather is absolutely delightful - bright but not scorching, and a breeze so refreshing you just want to whirl around!

Plus, there's a magic in the air. The city seems buzzing with something new to offer; from fashion weeks to theatre previews, art exhibitions and delicious festivals celebrating local crafts and cuisine! It's truly the best time to experience the cultural kaleidoscope that is London!

A Few Words About Fashion

You know me and my love for a fabulous outfit - it's an essential part of my London experience, darlings! This week, I’ve been playing around with a range of chic looks, from a classic cream sweater dress with my pink tutu on top (a must-have look for every ballerina), to a slightly edgy but always adorable vintage dress that I found in a lovely little boutique near Covent Garden – it has this gorgeous lace collar and an amazing colour palette!

Now, my style is always evolving, and I love experimenting with different styles! I really enjoy adding a pink twist to the latest trends – a hint of pastel here, a splash of bright pink there, just to keep it fun! But remember: your own style should always be a reflection of your unique personality!

A Tip for Every Tutu Lover: Look for London’s amazing independent shops. They’re full of fashion treasures! I’m always looking out for unique designs, fabrics, and accessories that help me add my signature style to my tutu look. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to explore many different corners of this fashion-obsessed city! And you know what? I’ve been inspired to embrace even more colour into my tutu-wearing adventures!

Pink Tutu Fashion Forecast

London's style scene has always been a melting pot of inspiration, and I love spotting those tiny trends that are just starting to emerge! Let's see what lies ahead!

I think the following will be big news:

• Colour is King : Bold and playful combinations, everything from bold oranges and pinks to rich emerald greens. The key? Embrace your personality!

• The Tutu Renaissance : I can’t help but think the world is slowly becoming more comfortable with ballet style. People are ready to wear their hearts on their sleeves, and that includes embracing the whimsical charm of tutus! From the street to the stage, we see this magical garment everywhere! You can expect to see it paired with classic jackets for a dash of playful elegance, or a simple cotton t-shirt for a casual vibe that still manages to exude confidence. And don't be afraid to wear it as a statement piece on its own! A single, vibrant tutu can be the centrepiece of your entire look, drawing attention and exuding a confidence that says “I dare to be different and dance to the rhythm of my own drum.”

• Accessories that Pop! : From chunky earrings and colourful bracelets to quirky scarves and bold handbags, accessories play a vital role in completing your outfit. Look for items that are a reflection of your own unique style.

A Quick Reminder, Darlings : The magic of style is about embracing your uniqueness. There is no "right" or “wrong” way to wear a tutu. Go out there, dance your heart out, and spread a little bit of joy!

Looking Ahead

I hope this week’s blog post has inspired you to dance a little closer to your dreams. We all have the power to bring joy to the world through our style and our actions, and I encourage you to wear your own “tutu”, whatever it might be.

Until next week,

Love and pink tutus, Emma
