Pink Tutu Blog London #885: A Day of Pink and Twirling in London Town

Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your pink tutu-clad friend, reporting live from the bustling streets of London. I'm back in my favourite city for the weekend, escaping the peace and quiet of Derbyshire for some urban exploration, fab fashion finds, and of course, a few stellar ballet performances!

This week, I'm especially thrilled because, well, I’m wearing pink. Honestly, I can't get enough of the colour! It's simply the most delightful hue, evoking happiness, sunshine, and a little touch of magic. It's also an amazing confidence boost – whenever I wear pink, I feel ready to take on the world, whether I’m gliding through a ballet studio or sauntering down Oxford Street.

Now, let’s get down to the nitty gritty of my London adventure. This weekend, I'm embracing the quintessential British way of travel – by train. Yes, that’s right, I've hopped aboard the trusty railway carriage for a smooth and relaxing journey. It’s always a treat to gaze out the window as the English countryside rolls by – the green meadows, charming villages, and charming quaint towns are simply lovely. It’s a perfect time for reflecting and indulging in a bit of my favourite activity, dreaming of pretty pink outfits!

Landing in London with a Flourish:

I arrived at King's Cross St. Pancras station in the afternoon, already feeling the vibrant energy of London pulsing through my pink tutu. There's always a buzzing excitement in the air here, and it feels as if every single person has somewhere fascinating to be. I took a deep breath, letting the unique atmosphere of this city seep into me before venturing out.

Speaking of pink, I simply can’t resist indulging in some retail therapy when I’m in London! My first stop was Liberty London. Oh, how I adore their flagship store – it's a little bit of history and a whole lot of style! The stunning architecture and beautiful selection of clothes make it a delight to just browse and dream. It felt magical to twirl around their fabulously dressed mannequins and admire the elegant garments! Today I treated myself to a new, hand-stitched pink cashmere cardigan that will go beautifully with my current tutu wardrobe!

A Glimpse of History and The Glamour of West End:

The afternoon found me exploring the fascinating alleys of Covent Garden. Cobblestones, historical buildings, vibrant street performers, and even a smattering of street food – the quintessential London experience! I simply had to visit the Theatre Royal, which always has a vibrant atmosphere buzzing around it! And let’s be honest, who could resist taking a photo of the infamous red post boxes – iconic London landmarks. It's such a visual delight for me – it’s so rich in history and so photogenic – an endless source of inspiration.

In the evening, I was so fortunate to catch a mesmerizing performance at the magnificent Royal Opera House. The entire building just oozes class, elegance, and grace. And the ballet was divine – each intricate movement told a story, captivating my heart. I just love the blend of beauty, art, and physicality in ballet! I was transported to another world of pure grace and storytelling. It’s just amazing that these magnificent art forms exist for us to enjoy. It’s also my passion. I make sure that I’m able to fund my love of travel, shopping and fashion by performing in ballet. You could say I lead a rather fabulous and twirly life!

As I write this, I'm back in my hotel room, surrounded by pink décor, listening to my favourite ballet music – it's truly my sanctuary. I know you lovely people out there are enjoying this beautiful evening too.

To end, my favourite things about today…:

  1. The warmth of a traditional London pub: Today, I stopped for a cheeky pint at the ‘Old George Tavern’. It felt truly authentic and traditional with its cosy atmosphere, low beams and warm fireplaces. The pint of bitter ale was very refreshing on a humid London day. I’d even venture to say that it was just about as wonderful as my current pink polka dot tutu – maybe!

  2. Seeing the most fabulous pink tutus. My absolute delight was spotting a street performer with a tutu, yes! They were performing with the tiniest chihuahua wearing the most amazing sparkly pink tutu! The combination of pink tutus with a petite canine was too cute! And yes, you guessed it! I did get permission for a selfie with them both! And what’s not to love about a selfie, when it is adorned with pink, furry cuteness! Of course, it goes without saying that I took some photos for Instagram and my pink-tutu-obsessed followers! It just wouldn't be a pink tutu blog if I didn’t share it, right? You see? London truly never fails to delight me.

  3. Being enveloped in the magic of ballet: To my utter delight, the ballet I attended was The Sleeping Beauty – what a fairytale masterpiece! The performance was spectacular! The music was spellbinding – the story utterly enchanting. You know, this really is my happy place. There is nothing more wonderful to me, than to escape from the day into this world of ballet and storytelling, and this is exactly what makes London my favourite city.

I simply adore spending time in London, and today has been an especially wonderful experience! There’s something about the blend of ancient history and modern culture that gets my creative juices flowing.

As you read this, I’m currently on a pink, ballerina-themed treasure hunt, a.k.a retail therapy, at Oxford Street. With so many lovely shops, it is literally impossible to resist purchasing more lovely pieces to adorn my tutu wardrobe. I’m planning on writing about my amazing finds for next week’s post. I will also be catching the world-famous Covent Garden Flower Market – another of my favourites.

Keep an eye on my next blog post! But for now, I’ll leave you with some important reminders:

  1. Wear your heart on your sleeve. That’s right, wear your favourite pink tutu with pride. And while we are at it, please remember that the colour pink is just as cool for men and boys as it is for us girls!

  2. Spread the pink love: Let’s make a pact to inspire and encourage one another. We should all work together to inspire each other, embracing kindness, love, and joy. And I promise you that there’s no better way to share a smile with a complete stranger than with a fabulous pink tutu.

  3. Chase your dreams. Always have a little twinkle in your eye and keep a vibrant pink tutu handy to twirl around in whenever your life calls for it. After all, a twirl or two always brightens things up!

See you next Friday, my loves! Until then, be fabulously pink!

Your best,

Emma (Your pink-tutu wearing, ballet-loving friend)
