#PinkTutuBlogLondon: London Calling! - Post #913 - Friday 2014-02-28
Oh, darling readers! It's Friday, and that means it's time for another #PinkTutuBlogLondon adventure! The sun's shining through the train window, a little patch of blue against the gorgeous green countryside, as I zoom through Derbyshire on my way to the big smoke โ London town!
I can hardly contain my excitement โ London has a certain magical feel about it. Itโs brimming with so many exciting things โ the ballet, of course, is at the forefront of my mind! This weekend is chock-full of glorious events: I've got tickets to see the Romeo and Juliet production at Sadler's Wells, a masterclass with a guest teacher, and a much-needed shopping spree on Oxford Street!
But first things first! As always, my mission is to find the most stunning outfits for my London adventures. Luckily, my mum gave me the perfect gift: a new fluffy, blush-pink tutu! Itโs the lightest shade of pink โ like spun sugar with a sprinkle of glitter โ absolutely dreamy!
The train whistle blows, breaking the dreamy image in my head. Time to switch tracks!
The train pulled into London Kingโs Cross station. The grand architecture of the station was magnificent! I couldn't help but feel like I'd stepped out of a fairytale. As I emerged, I could smell the warm aroma of freshly baked bread coming from a bakery just across the street.
But before indulging in those heavenly croissants, my first order of business was to find a perfect little pink haven โ my London base for the weekend! And what a gem I found! My charming little bed and breakfast was nestled in a quiet street near Bloomsbury. My room was a dream! A pretty vintage wallpaper with a touch of chintz, a chaise longue by the window, and a delightful chandelier dripping with sparkly pink beads. Itโs the perfect place for a tutu-clad ballerina to call home.
I can already hear the patter of my dancing shoes on the London pavement!
I skipped through Bloomsbury, enjoying the beautiful gardens and cobbled streets. A cup of pink tea and a slice of cake were my reward โ perfect for fueling up for the day. The sky was bright and cheerful. Everything seemed to be glistening! The air hummed with anticipation, and the buzz of excitement made my heart dance!
After all that tea, a little bit of ballet was just the ticket! I popped into the Royal Opera House's lovely Covent Garden location to admire the magnificent facade โ a beautiful reminder of the history and majesty of the world of ballet.
I spent some time admiring the ballet posters outside the Covent Garden theatre and taking photos with the giant Covent Garden cherub statue โ what a whimsical beauty she was, complete with wings, a flowing tutu and the sweetest expression on her face! My tutu-clad image perfectly mirrored her in this enchanting location. It's simply a delight!
Next stop: A little shopping! I had my sights set on a brand-new pink top, and my heart fluttered when I found the perfect one! A luscious shade of magenta โ a perfect addition to my growing collection of pink. This little shop was brimming with colourful fabrics, bright accessories, and so many lovely garments, all beautifully arranged, making shopping an absolute joy.
The highlight of my day was my ballet class. A small studio nestled amongst the narrow, charming cobbled streets of Notting Hill, it was bursting with vibrant life and the delightful sounds of beautiful music.
I absolutely loved the class! The teacher was incredibly welcoming, the other dancers were friendly, and I learnt so much. My body was a symphony of movement. With my pink tutu swishing, I spun, leapt, and twirled, embracing the power of ballet. I feel rejuvenated and my soul is overflowing with joyful energy!
The afternoon melted into a beautiful evening, with a delicate layer of dusk blanketing the city. I hopped on the Tube for a swift journey to the majestic Sadler's Wells Theatre. The warm glow emanating from the building promised an exciting night ahead.
Romeo and Juliet, a modern twist on the classic Shakespearean tragedy, had me spellbound. I felt transported into the very heart of Verona! The costumes were spectacular, and the dancing was a masterpiece โ full of intricate steps and poignant expressions. The performance moved me, evoking both deep emotion and an exhilarating joy.
I stepped out of the theatre feeling inspired and revitalised, a feeling that followed me as I made my way to the vibrant streets of Covent Garden, the hustle and bustle of the evening adding another layer of vibrancy to this wonderful London experience.
My stomach rumbled, demanding a delicious dinner, and what better place to indulge in the most wonderful dishes London could offer than the bustling Italian quarter in Soho! A delightful pasta dish with creamy parmesan and a light glass of pink sparkling wine made my night complete.
A Friday spent in London is a joy โ a symphony of lights, sounds, and textures โ with every experience making my heart skip a beat!
Now, off to bed, where dreams of tutus, dancing, and Londonโs hidden gems will guide me. Tune in next week for more adventures on the next #PinkTutuBlogLondon post!
See you all next Friday!
Love,
Emma
