Pink Tutu Blog London - Post #914: Friday, 7th March, 2014 - Adventures in the Big Smoke!
Hello, darling tutu enthusiasts! It's your favourite pink-clad blogger, Emma, back with another Friday adventure. This week I'm ditching the Derbyshire hills for the bustling streets of London, and as always, my trusty pink tutu is tagging along.
The journey by train was an absolute delight. Something about a train journey feels so inherently romantic. I had my trusty copy of "Pride and Prejudice" by my side, sipping on a rather delicious cappuccino (don't judge, I don't have the energy for black coffee), and basking in the glorious English countryside flitting past the window.
As my train pulled into King's Cross station, I felt a surge of excitement. I absolutely love the energy of this city - the constant hustle and bustle, the diverse crowd of people, the sheer possibility! And you know me, I just had to pick up a new pink tutu, a real showstopper of a thing, before I started exploring.
London, Oh London, Where Do I Begin?Firstly, you just can't be in London without venturing into Covent Garden. I adore the quirky, vintage shops, the buskers playing their hearts out, and the vibrant mix of street performers. And oh, the delicious smell of street food!
For my lunch, I opted for a truly delectable pulled pork baguette, sprinkled with a liberal amount of my favourite condiment, sweet chilli sauce. The only thing missing was a glass of something fizzy (strictly for grown-up consumption, mind you) to go with it. I did manage to sneak in a delicious pink macaroon from one of the fancy bakeries nearby - because, well, a girl needs her pink treats, right?
Ballet InspirationThen, it was on to a matinee performance of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House. Now, you know I can never resist a classic ballet! I felt completely enthralled, as always, by the grace, the artistry, and the sheer technical skill of the dancers. There was a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation, the choreography both exquisite and impactful, leaving me completely awestruck.
Afterwards, I took a wander down the picturesque South Bank, with its street performers, book shops, and art galleries. You know I couldn't resist stopping at the Shakespeare's Globe for a glimpse into theatrical history. And what could be more theatrical than my sparkly pink tutu? It seems everyone in London was charmed by its twirls!
Shopping Therapy, Anyone?Later in the evening, it was time for some much-needed shopping therapy at Harrods. You'll never believe what I found โ a gorgeous, dusky pink tulle skirt, with just the right amount of glitz and glamour! The material was so soft, it just felt like silk against my skin, and the price tag? Well, let's just say it's a good thing I saved up from my ballet performances!
The evening culminated with dinner at the coolest little Italian bistro in Bloomsbury. The ambiance was magical - candlelight, live music, and the laughter of friends - it really felt like a dream. And of course, I finished the night with a glass of chilled prosecco, something special to celebrate a day well spent.
London, you are a city that captures the heart, the soul, and of course, the tutu-loving spirit within me. You have everything from vibrant street performances to classic ballet, exquisite fashion finds to charming local bistros - you are simply delightful!
