Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #915)

Friday 2014-03-14

Hello darlings! It’s Friday and you know what that means... Pink Tutu Blog time! 🩰💖 This week I’ve swapped the Derbyshire countryside for the vibrant buzz of London town!

Train Journey Bliss

First things first, let me tell you about my journey up. The train journey from Derby to London is pure bliss. I always find a comfy spot in a carriage with big windows, slip into my favourite comfy cardigan (a soft blush pink, naturally!), and just soak up the scenery. This time, I had a whole carriage to myself and indulged in a lovely spot of knitting. My current project? A matching pink beret for my little niece, Olivia!

The London Adventure Begins!

Arriving at Kings Cross station is always such a thrill. I feel like I’m stepping straight out of a Harry Potter novel, except without the magic, alas! 😉 But never fear, London has its own magic to offer. First stop, Liberty's, my haven of colour and craftsmanship. It’s just across the road from Kings Cross! I couldn't resist adding a little floral printed silk scarf to my collection. Pink, naturally. It’s all about the layering for Spring! 🌺

Ballet in Bloomsbury!

This evening I'm treating myself to a matinee at the Royal Opera House. It’s a performance of "Giselle," which has always been a favourite. The ballet world always makes me feel inspired, and being surrounded by such exquisite talent truly lifts the spirits! And how I love that air of anticipation before the curtains open. 🎭 The only thing better than seeing a ballet show? Performing in one myself, naturally.

Shopping and Delights

Oh, and before the ballet, I'm squeezing in a spot of afternoon tea with my dear friend Charlotte, a fellow tutu-loving enthusiast. She's teaching me some fab London fashion hacks. I can't wait to see if her new ‘pink-tutu-inspired’ styling ideas really work for me. This will involve lots of fabulous frocks and a bit of vintage shopping! Maybe I'll find some more twirly things! A girl can never have too many tutus!

Fashion, Tea, and Theatres!

I can't wait to share photos of the entire afternoon. This is a little sneak peek from our afternoon tea! Charlotte's wearing a beautiful turquoise number and my trusty tutu has just become a ‘ballet-inspired’ masterpiece! You'll love my new look - you will never guess where I found it.

An Evening of Enchantment

We're grabbing a bite in Covent Garden before the ballet, I'm absolutely stuffed after our afternoon tea! The atmosphere around the theatre is incredible! I just love the energy of this city! I find the most amazing shops around here – and the lights! London at night is magical! 🌃 You never know who you're going to bump into in London, last time I was here I actually ran into a famous ballet dancer from the Bolshoi! She was incognito (don't you love the thrill of spotting a star in disguise?).

A Bit of London Love!

I am loving London and all that it has to offer! I really do find London incredibly inspirational. Not only is it a hub of creativity and artistic expression, but it’s also the perfect place for finding amazing pink tutus! What else could a ballerina girl ask for?

Don’t forget, you can catch me every Friday on www.pink-tutu.com! 💖

P.S. Do let me know what YOU would do for a day in London, in the comments section below! Don't forget to share photos of you in your pink tutu too!

Stay fabulous and dance to your heart's content,

Emma x
