Pink Tutu Blog London #936: Friday Fun in the Big Smoke!

Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! Emma here, reporting live from the wonderful city of London! I'm so excited to be here, because not only is this city simply breathtaking, but it's also the perfect playground for a pink-loving tutu-wearing ballerina like me!

I’m still buzzing from my whirlwind train journey up from Derbyshire. I do love travelling by train! There’s something so glamorous and old-fashioned about sitting back, enjoying the view, and perhaps indulging in a cheeky cuppa. You can tell I’m on holiday, because I even went all out and chose the little table next to the window – pure Parisian chic, darling!

And let's be honest, it's the perfect time to wear a pink tutu on a train! Why not embrace the bold, beautiful, and oh-so-fun side of life? My signature bright pink tutu, with its twirly layers of tulle, stood out like a beacon of sunshine against the neutral hues of the train carriage. Several passengers offered smiles and thumbs-up, a couple even did a little twirl themselves. I told you, my pink tutu mission is gaining momentum! 😉

Now, the moment you've all been waiting for... My London adventure! I must confess, the first thing on my list (after checking into my lovely little boutique hotel with the best breakfast!) was, of course, a trip to Regent Street. Every time I come to London, the shopping streets simply beckon to me! It's such a great opportunity to indulge my love for all things pretty and sparkly, and there is nothing like discovering that perfect piece in a boutique tucked away in a back alley.

Today's discoveries? Let's just say my handbag is feeling a bit heavy. A pair of sparkly silver heels to go with my new lilac tutu (because you can never have too many tutus, darlings!), a beautiful vintage scarf to add a splash of colour to my outfits, and oh my! A pair of adorable miniature ballet shoes shaped like cupcakes! Can you even handle the cuteness?! Oh, and you'll never guess what! They also had these beautiful silver ballerina brooches in the shape of dancing swans... How divine!

But this wasn’t just a day for shopping. Oh no, it’s also the day of my much-anticipated visit to The Royal Opera House! I mean, what's a ballet girl’s London trip without a visit to see some world-class talent grace the stage? Today, I’m seeing Swan Lake, and you can just bet that I'll be wearing my finest, twirliest tutu! 🩰

My day started early. You know how I love my ballet class, and I simply can’t go a week without at least a few hours of pirouette practice. So I booked in a beginner’s class at the Dance Academy on Notting Hill Gate, then made my way to the Ballet at the Barbican, an event which celebrates up-and-coming ballet stars from across the globe. And can I just say? They’re simply divine! I met one amazing young woman from the Australian Ballet – she's doing a leaping choreographed routine in a dazzling, jewel-toned, one-piece, oh my! She's going to go far. You heard it here first.

Now, you know that no trip to London would be complete without a touch of theatrical magic, so of course, I snagged a couple of tickets to see Grease! It’s a bit of a throwback classic, but they've totally revamped the show, with a bit of contemporary flair that really gets your feet tappin' and hips shakin'!

The highlight of the day? I’d have to say it was meeting a whole group of women who had donned pink tutus for their trip to see The Sound of Music at The London Palladium. Can you imagine the delight? Seeing a sea of pink twirling joy in the theatre lobby was beyond heartwarming. It’s like they heard my call from all the way back in Derbyshire! 😄

I know you're all going to love this part: the show is amazing! If you love classic musicals with their catchy songs and a heart-warming story, you simply must catch The Sound of Music! You can feel the joy radiating out from the stage, the audience sings along, and everyone goes home feeling completely and utterly happy! Now that’s a Friday night well spent.

Oh, and a special shoutout to everyone who was inspired by this week's #PinkTutuChallenge! I loved seeing photos of you guys rocking your tutus in the park, at the grocery store, even at the office! If you want to be featured next week, tag me with #PinkTutuLondon.

Well, darlings, that's all from me today! But the pink-tutu-wearing fun in London has just begun. Check in next Friday, where I’ll be blogging live from a fabulous, pink-tastic afternoon tea, followed by a magical trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Stay tuned, it's gonna be a dazzling day of London loveliness!

Love, Emma

P.S. I'm always looking for suggestions on how to make this blog even better. What would you like to see more of? Do you have any exciting ballet performances, shops, or shows that I should check out? Let me know in the comments! 💕
