Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #1008)

Friday, 25th December 2015

Oh, my darlings, it's Christmas Day, and I'm in London! It feels utterly magical, like something out of a festive fairytale. This year, I decided to treat myself to a special Christmas adventure and there's no better place than London, is there?

The train journey down from Derbyshire was a real joy, filled with festive carols and the excitement of getting to my favourite city. It always makes me so happy to hear the rhythm of the tracks and feel the wind whistling through the windows as we rush past. It's the perfect way to start any adventure!

Now, let's talk about the wardrobe for this festive foray into London town. You know how much I love a pink tutu and today, I chose one with a sparkling silver tulle skirt - all twirls and glitter for a perfect festive flair. My sparkly pink jumper added the right amount of Christmas cheer and I topped it all off with a chic black coat to brave the (possibly) chilly London weather.

After arriving in London, I decided to make a beeline for the heart of it all โ€“ Covent Garden! It was brimming with holiday cheer - colourful Christmas lights strung across the historic buildings, street performers adding to the merriment, and the aroma of cinnamon and gingerbread in the air.

Covent Garden is always a joy to wander through, especially on a day like this. There are so many wonderful shops and boutiques. I had to pop into Liberty, of course. Their Christmas decorations are always so beautifully festive! Then, it was a pitstop at Fortnum & Mason. A spot of afternoon tea with a little Christmas pudding to celebrate was just the tonic to perk me up for the rest of the day.

I wouldn't be true to myself without a bit of ballet, would I? So, off I went to see a performance at the Royal Opera House. "The Nutcracker", of course. It was spectacular, full of swirling twirls and intricate dance steps. I was completely entranced by the talented dancers - they seemed to float across the stage! After the performance, I popped into their shop and indulged in some pretty pink ballerina-themed souvenirs.

To round off my festive day, I decided to visit the magical Christmas markets at Hyde Park. You've never experienced the magic of London at Christmas until you've seen it through the sparkle of the Winter Wonderland! I braved the crowds, warmed myself with a cup of hot chocolate, and even took a go on the carousel (it's not all pink tutus, you know!). The whole place was like a giant fairytale land, full of music, lights and delicious food stalls. I was delighted by the cute wooden ornaments and the pretty festive trinkets on offer - I bought myself a tiny, sparkly ballerina decoration for my own Christmas tree!

Later on, I tucked into a delightful dinner at one of London's famous festive restaurants โ€“ I enjoyed a plate of perfectly roasted turkey and the best cranberry sauce I've ever had! It's all about soaking up that London Christmas magic!

Of course, I'm not leaving London without exploring some of the best spots for ballet-themed shopping. Tomorrow, I'm planning a trip to Selfridges to have a good rummage through their fashion department, perhaps pick up some new outfits to add a little sparkle to my wardrobe. And maybe I'll pop into Liberty for another browse too. It's so much fun just browsing for hours and dreaming of that perfect pink tutu for my next performance.

But for now, it's time to unwind after a perfect day. I'm heading back to my little hotel room, putting on some of my favourite festive tunes, and dreaming of all the wonders I'll explore tomorrow. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year to be in London!

So, until next time, my dear readers, remember, you too can add a dash of sparkle to your day with a twirl in a pink tutu. And don't forget, if you want to add a little "Emma in London" flair to your day, look out for my blog post each Friday. It will always be brimming with fashionable fun, ballet inspiration, and of course, plenty of pink tutus.

Happy holidays!

Emma
