Pink Tutu Blog: London Adventures! 🩰 #1016

Hello my lovelies! It's Emma here, ready to take you on a whirlwind tour of London. 🎡 As you know, my Friday blog posts are all about the adventures I get up to, and this week, it’s the fabulous, fast-paced, utterly magnificent city of London.

This Friday started with a crisp Derbyshire morning – all icy-cold windows and frosty rooftops, you know the feeling. ❄️ And guess what? I actually got to wear a cute, sparkly, pink tutu to the station (it was a bit chilly, I know, but let’s be honest – it was totes worth the extra layer for a spot of Instagram-worthy station platform glamour.)

The journey itself was a total dream! There’s something so exciting about riding a train to London; you know you’re in for an amazing day! 🎧 My Spotify playlist (think classical ballet music mixed with a bit of disco – don’t judge!) and my hot pink travel mug were my best friends, and with my bright pink backpack stuffed full of sparkle-tastic outfits, I felt ready to take on London town!

Of course, I had to stop at the cutest cafe ever – a hidden gem in my neighbourhood station – and they had pink cappuccino foam art, OMG. 😍 The barista totally got the #PinkTutu vibe. My Instagram post is blowing up – seriously, like, almost 5,000 likes already!

I actually have a pretty full schedule today, with the goal to explore as much of this incredible city as I can squeeze into a single day. (No wonder my sparkly pink trainers are my new fave shoes, am I right?)

So, onto London! 🚇 It's so crazy being surrounded by so many people and such fascinating buildings! I had to stop for a quick photo op, because how could I not, with a glorious pink building covered in vines looking right back at me?! My first port of call had to be a fabulous ballet shop in Covent Garden – think glittery fabrics, cute ballerina accessories, and absolutely everything I need for a pink-tutu themed day in the capital! My shopping bag is pretty much bursting, and my credit card is crying, but I feel so ridiculously excited – the joy of a ballerina’s day is shopping for the right gear for all the incredible things London has to offer. It’s no surprise I love to do my shopping on a Friday – a Friday splurge is the best part of my week!

Speaking of Covent Garden, I have to mention the flower market – imagine endless stalls bursting with colourful flowers, each one more vibrant than the last! 💐 It was almost enough to make my head spin (I was literally surrounded by pinks, lilacs, and bright orange blooms! 🤯 ) What I love about Covent Garden is how colourful it is! Honestly, it almost reminds me of a theatre set; the perfect place for photos in my tutu. (There's a definite vibe of a Victorian fairytale about it, you know? It's like Alice in Wonderland – except without the rabbit holes!). The market stall owners are so lovely too; one even told me I’m a perfect example of ‘Pink-Tutu Friday' in London. I think we all agree: Pink really is my lucky colour! 🌸

After that, a little something to fuel the body for a huge amount of sightseeing (yes, it's totally worth it, because there are just SO many amazing things to see here!). We headed to a tea shop - an absolutely adorable place with gorgeous floral china, floral teacups, and, of course, floral tea blends! ☕️ My afternoon tea was a feast for my eyes (and my tummy!). And for you fashionistas out there? The dress code here is pink or pastel-hued – seriously, I’ve never been surrounded by so much pink. (Oh my goodness, what's a girl to do with all this inspiration for her #PinkTutuBlog).

Oh, did I mention it was a total balletic-inspired adventure day?! 💃 That afternoon, we went to a private ballet class near St Paul's Cathedral. (Seriously, can this day get any more magical?!) We’ve never laughed so much in ballet class; the instructor was amazing! 👯‍♀️

The highlight of the day? We saw an amazing ballet performance! (My heart skipped a beat when the theatre lights dimmed, and the curtain went up! 😭😍). The theatre was decorated in such a fabulous Art Deco style, it just took my breath away! ✨ The dancers were brilliant; you could tell how much dedication they put into it, it was so inspiring to watch them glide and leap with such artistry. Honestly, it gave me so much motivation to get back into the studio – my little pirouette skills need some serious work!

For a bit of London nightlife, we wandered around to Leicester Square; it’s crazy, buzzing with excitement and so lively! 🤩 The neon signs and huge video screens all flashing make it almost unreal! We found a fab jazz bar for some cocktails (it was absolutely delicious!). This city knows how to throw a party! ✨

After a couple of drinks and dancing – well, a lot of dancing really - (oh yeah, I’m talking proper jazz-dance-on-the-dancefloor style dancing!). It's been the perfect day out in London! 💕 My inner child is doing the happy dance right now!

What’s happening in London on 2016-02-19 ?

London is always jam-packed with exciting things to see and do. For this Friday in February, the West End theatre shows we considered were, "Miss Saigon," "An American in Paris" and "Wicked!" Oh! I should mention – "Matilda The Musical" is an absolute favourite! I was on the waiting list to see this performance a few weeks back – It's simply spectacular! The West End is just the BEST when it comes to musicals – the set designs are amazing, the singers have fantastic voices, and the choreography always blows my mind! The perfect inspiration for my Friday-themed, “I'm in London for a Show” outfit! 🤩

However, after checking the website I realized they were all fully booked, bummer! But there were other, fantastic options; the London Transport Museum had an "Elizabeth Line" display – London’s brand new line for traveling on public transport – the coolest display for any London lover!

Of course, the Victoria and Albert Museum is a MUST, it is truly a masterpiece for anyone interested in art, design and anything vintage and stylish. It’s a big space to explore and really, a day trip in itself. It's my personal style to love museums (all those pretty colours!) – especially museums full of history and fashion! ✨

I was even thinking about hopping over to the Natural History Museum; maybe taking the kids and playing hide and seek! I loved those dinosaur displays when I was little and can’t believe there is now a dinosaur restaurant (talk about “food for thought” haha) – a brilliant location for a ‘Friday treat’. I even got my mom to book a ‘Behind the Scenes Tour’ there, just for me – you're welcome, Mom! 😂 (but shh, it’s a secret) - for a Saturday treat, just because I'm in love with London this week!

Anyway, we made it home after an absolute whirlwind day! 💫 Time for a a relaxing evening in and catching up on all those emails! I’ve been taking hundreds of snaps (pink tutu photos are a must, obvs! 💅) and writing about this fabulous London experience, and so it’s definitely time for some R&R! (and by the way, my favorite “Pink Tutu Blog: London" snap for my Instagram was me by a bright red double-decker bus, so cute!).
