Pink Tutu Blog London: #1126 - A Whirlwind Friday in London! 🩰💖
Hello my darlings, and welcome to another glorious Friday instalment of the Pink Tutu Blog, this time from the dazzling, vibrant streets of London!
As you know, London has been calling to me for quite some time now. It's just so exciting, full of history, culture and a certain undeniable flair that draws me in like a moth to a flame. And since I was blessed with an incredibly successful week of performances back home in Derbyshire, I just had to indulge my inner ballerina and hop on the train! 🚂
This time, I made sure to travel with a bit more panache. Yes, a trip to London demands a little extra sparkle, right? So I pulled out the good ol' tutu from my collection - a fluffy pink number, obviously, but this time, I jazzed it up with some sparkly butterflies stitched to the layers! 🦋 It definitely caught some curious glances at the train station, which is all part of the fun, isn't it? 😄
As the train rattled towards London, my excitement reached fever pitch. Every time I come here, I’m absolutely bowled over by the sheer energy of the city, buzzing with people from all walks of life, a kaleidoscope of cultures and ideas colliding together. It’s absolutely magical, a little bit intoxicating really!
As soon as I arrived at Euston Station, I was already plotting my day's adventure. The first stop, naturally, had to be my favourite vintage shop, "A Touch of Lace." I am, of course, talking about my all-time favourite destination for beautiful and unique treasures, tucked away in a hidden corner of Kensington Market. This place is my dream come true – it’s brimming with gorgeous old fabrics, sparkling accessories, and the most incredible antique brooches, each a piece of forgotten stories. My wardrobe simply cannot resist such exquisite vintage temptations! 💖
Today, I managed to bag myself a pair of stunning lace gloves – imagine, my darlings, pristine ivory, beautifully embroidered with delicate sprigs of forget-me-nots – and a beautiful, ornate, rose-gold-toned brooch. Just the things to bring out a ballerina’s inner vintage glamour, you see? 💎
Feeling positively fabulous after my shopping escapade, it was time for lunch. Of course, I went to my secret, quirky, favourite cafe – the "Lilac Bloom" - with it's quirky vintage teacups and pastel pink décor, it’s just the right mix of tea-time decadence and a ballerina’s dreams come true. This little hidden gem in Notting Hill has the best carrot cake this side of the River Thames! 🥕🍰 They also have a special deal on Fridays - you can get a second cup of tea with your cake, just say "pink tutu" and the waitress winks!
Dancing to the Music 🎼
Naturally, a trip to London is not complete without a little ballet magic. So I grabbed a couple of tickets for the Royal Ballet's performance of "Swan Lake," which is running at the Royal Opera House. I just love the classic elegance of Swan Lake. It's a ballet masterpiece that's just perfect for a balletomane like me! ✨
The Royal Opera House, well, it's quite frankly an architectural gem. I am simply entranced by the building’s stately grandeur, a real embodiment of old-world London charm. From its soaring columns and grand staircase, to the elegant boxes and plush red seats, I just love the history and glamour radiating from the very bricks of this wonderful building. It’s easy to see how it has captured hearts for over three centuries – it’s almost impossible to imagine London without the Royal Opera House! 🎭
The performance itself was nothing short of magical. It’s almost like the ballet performers become these incredible, living beings on stage, they dance so beautifully, expressing every feeling through the movement of their bodies. You forget you’re even watching - the entire theatre becomes a world of wonder as they draw you into their graceful choreography, it truly was an awe-inspiring performance. 🥰
After the performance, I decided to walk along the River Thames. What better way to end the day, with a stroll past the glittering lights of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. London is just spectacular, no matter what time of day.
Saturday is just Around the Corner!
Right, it’s time to pack my pink tutu (a little bit crumpled from my adventures, but still adorable!), ready for tomorrow's adventures. Tomorrow, it’s all about London fashion! A little shopping trip for some pretty ballet-inspired things, and of course, I am looking for a new pair of ballet flats – who can resist? 😄
So keep your eyes peeled on my website, my lovelies, as I share my fabulous Saturday in London!
Don’t forget, I'm also sharing snippets of my day on my Instagram @pinktutublogger, and remember – wear a pink tutu, if you dare! It really is a magic trick to feeling confident and happy, a way of saying "Hey world, I am ready for fun!” 😜
Until next week,
With Love,
Emma 💖🩰
