Pink Tutu Blog London #1190: A Tutu-ful Friday in London!

Friday 2019-06-21

Hello lovelies! It’s Emma here, back from another whirlwind trip to London town, this time with a full-on Friday agenda of ballet, fashion, and, of course, pink tutus! It's hard to believe it’s already June - the days are getting longer, the sun is shining, and the streets of London are positively buzzing with summer energy.

This week, I travelled down from my Derbyshire home by train, and I must say, I adore the journey! I love watching the countryside roll past my window and spotting the first glimpse of London’s skyline. This week, the train was jam-packed with holidaymakers, families headed for fun in the sun, and even a few tutus-clad enthusiasts. Yep, you never know where you might spot a fellow tutu-lover!

I arrived in London with a skip in my step, my pink tutu twirling around my legs with excitement! Today’s agenda was chock-a-block: first, a ballet class at the glorious Royal Opera House, then some fashion exploration, a decadent lunch, and finally, a delightful performance of the one and only Swan Lake.

The Dance is on!

Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty: The Royal Opera House Ballet Class. As a seasoned tutu-wearer and aspiring ballerina, I've waltzed into countless studios around the world, but there’s something truly special about a class in the iconic Covent Garden theatre. Stepping onto the sprung floor, the historical weight of the space enveloping you, it's enough to make any aspiring dancer’s heart beat faster. The instructor, a seasoned dancer herself, was incredible - guiding us through stretches, warming our muscles, and building up to complex movements. The class was a real joy.

For a little afternoon treat, we went for a lovely afternoon tea at a sweet little spot in Covent Garden. It was a true English delight - finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and endless cups of tea.

London's Fashionistas

After tea, it was time to indulge in a little bit of retail therapy. I always love shopping in London. It’s like stepping into a fashion dream, with an incredible variety of shops to choose from, showcasing everything from high street finds to designer delights. Of course, I couldn't resist venturing into some of my favorite shops - Topshop for the trendiest finds, Liberty for its bohemian chic, and the infamous Oxford Street for a bit of everything.

While I adore a sparkly, statement tutu, I believe everyone can embrace the tutu spirit in their own way! Think a vibrant pink accessory, a cute pink top, or even just a splash of pink on your nails. London is brimming with possibilities for bringing out your own inner pink tutu queen.

An Evening at the Ballet

No visit to London would be complete without a night at the ballet, and tonight I was fortunate enough to see Swan Lake. Swan Lake is such a timeless classic - it's a story of love, betrayal, and redemption, all played out against a backdrop of graceful, elegant movement. This evening's performance was exceptional; the dancers were captivating, their movements fluid and beautiful, transporting us into a world of magic and wonder.

For a final treat, we had a delectable dinner at one of London's most charming and vibrant eateries. I savored a beautifully plated meal – light and fresh – and sipped a glass of bubbly, all while chatting about the beautiful day.

As I made my way home on the train, I felt that familiar sense of joy and inspiration. London has this incredible way of leaving you buzzing with life and possibilities, filled with an energy that's hard to describe but easy to embrace.

Toodles, London!

The next day I woke up full of ideas for the next time I visit. I can’t wait to get back to London soon. I want to discover even more hidden treasures, find more exciting fashion discoveries and discover more exciting ballet performances! But for now, I’m already dreaming of pink tutus, delicious London lunches, and the captivating magic of ballet performances.

This week's pink tutu pick:

This week’s pink tutu pick goes out to a new, online store called "Twirl and Bloom". It is a website dedicated to all things tutu, selling a wonderful range of skirts for every occasion, with options to mix and match for custom outfits. So if you’re ready to unleash your inner ballerina, give them a visit and prepare to get your twirl on!

So, until next week’s London adventure, I hope you all have a tutu-ful week ahead!

All the best,

Emma
