Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! #1215
Hello darlings! It's Friday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog post!
I'm so excited to share with you all about my whirlwind trip to London this week. I’ve been a bit obsessed with the Big Smoke for as long as I can remember. Even when I was a little girl dreaming of being a ballerina in Derbyshire, I was utterly enchanted by the stories of Covent Garden and the West End, not to mention the beautiful shops on Oxford Street.
So, when I finally landed a big job dancing in Swan Lake with a prestigious company (the details are still hush-hush!), it felt like the perfect opportunity to squeeze in a day trip to the capital. It also gave me a wonderful reason to dust off my favourite pink tulle tutu! I just couldn't resist sporting it while hopping off the train.
Let's rewind to the morning. My little cottage was adorned with frost this week (I know, such a cliché, right? But you guys know I adore the English countryside!), which really gave my morning cup of Earl Grey that extra cosiness. Once I’d fuelled myself with a bowl of porridge, I made a mad dash to the station (after taking a slight detour for a sneaky selfie with my outfit).
Honestly, there’s just something magical about travelling by train, especially with that beautiful view of the English countryside. It’s a chance to observe, dream, and indulge in that sweet, sweet feeling of being on the verge of an exciting adventure!
My journey was blessedly uneventful, a rare delight when travelling in the UK during peak hour! (Shout out to my fellow commuters!) The sun even made a surprise appearance for a moment, peeking through the clouds just long enough for me to snap a few pictures of the glistening tracks. Divine!
Arriving in London felt like being swallowed whole by a vibrant kaleidoscope of life! There’s an electric energy coursing through the city’s veins, from the hustle and bustle of commuters at Waterloo to the excited chatter of theatregoers heading to the West End. It was enough to give this little ballet dancer a case of the giddy-ups.
Of course, my first port of call was the famous Covent Garden. You could smell the romance and passion in the air. I even managed to snag a photo with a gorgeous street performer dressed as a Shakespearean knight. That was a bit surreal, let me tell you!
The next step, shopping. I'm not sure about you all, but when I think of London, I always think of luxury shopping. And trust me, darling, London lived up to all expectations! After wandering through the trendy boutiques in Soho, my first stop had to be Liberty London. Talk about a visual feast! The interiors were breathtaking and the garments? Heavenly. I actually ended up finding the most adorable, pink polka dot, floral headband. Can you imagine the envy in all those Parisian cafes?
Outfit Inspo: For my day exploring London, I decided to pair my pink tutu with a cute little white cropped sweater (slightly oversized, of course) and my go-to pink knee-high boots. I’m never one for following fashion rules, but I always think that mixing up your outfits creates a more interesting look! You have to find a style that reflects your personality! Oh, and don’t forget those cute pink cat-eye sunglasses to add some glamour.
Later that afternoon, I caught a truly phenomenal performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the Lyceum Theatre, starring a superb Mr. Michael Sheen as the ghostly Ebenezer Scrooge. I'm sure you know the story! It was the most beautiful theatrical production. It left me speechless. It truly felt like watching Christmas magic come alive!
To be honest, I got a little teary-eyed. (Not that you’d notice! I mean, I was wearing that heavy stage makeup…) But don’t get me wrong, it was purely from joy. What could be more magical than a live theatre production at Christmas? I honestly felt like a kid again. You know, when those big, fluffy snowflakes seemed to dance before you. That's what that production did to my heart!
After such an enchanting evening, there was only one way to cap off my day - with a delightful meal of fish and chips! I mean, you have to live a little! It wasn't fancy, but the crispy batter and the creamy, thick chips were just divine. You guys know I like my food a little bit, shall we say, ‘extra’…
Oh, and a special shout-out to the fantastic couple I met while waiting for my dinner at the pub! They were so lovely. They complimented me on my pink tutu! Now that was a truly unexpected but amazing way to end my London day.
Remember: If I can rock a pink tutu in London, you can wear one anywhere!
As the lights twinkled through the evening, I jumped back onto the train with a content smile on my face, still dreaming about my pink headband. I knew that I’d return to the capital. There's just something magical about London! And who knows, perhaps in my next adventure, I might even venture outside of the theatre scene for something a bit more daring. Who's ready to go on another adventure with me?
Until next time, remember to stay fabulous and keep those tutus twirling!
Yours always, Emma
