#PinkTutuBlogLondon: A London Fairy Tale (Post #1216)

Friday, 20th December 2019

Oh my darlings! It's a London Friday, and you know what that means - it's time for a #PinkTutuBlogLondon update! The festive spirit is definitely in the air, the streets are sparkling with Christmas lights, and even the pigeons seem a little bit jollier.

As usual, I hopped on the train from my little Derbyshire haven this morning, all rosy-cheeked and buzzing with excitement for another day of London adventures. There’s just something about the rhythm of the train, the whizzing scenery and the promise of exciting discoveries that puts a little pep in my step.

Today, my London Fairy Tale is about finding the magic amidst the hustle and bustle. We'll be delving into the world of fashion, of course (what else?!), with a special mention for a few Christmas-themed must-haves, because let’s face it, who can resist a bit of sparkle this time of year?

A Tutu-licious Train Journey:

The journey up to London was as delightful as ever. My trusty tutu (a raspberry pink, of course!) made the trip even more magical. A group of youngsters giggled at the sight of my pink whirl as I passed through the carriages. They probably thought I was headed for some fancy Christmas ball – which, in a way, I was!

This time, I added a touch of festive cheer with my accessories: a shimmering silver snowflake scarf (picked up on a recent ballet-related trip to Italy!) and a charming little purse with a sequined Santa perched upon it. Let's just say, I made quite an impression on the commuters, with their briefcases and stressed frowns!

The London Theatreland Experience:

Arriving in London, I was practically bouncing with excitement! Today's treat? A delightful matinée of "A Christmas Carol" at the beautiful Old Vic. I absolutely adore the spirit of this festive tale, the timeless messages of generosity and redemption – not to mention the fantastic production!

Seeing the talented actors breathe life into Dickens' characters, especially the Ghost of Christmas Present in his flamboyant get-up (I swear his robes shimmered!), was such a joy. And the beautiful Christmas songs, they filled me with the Christmas spirit, leaving me wanting to spread goodwill to all (even those grumpy commuters!).

A Shopper’s Paradise in the City:

After the play, I was itching to indulge in some post-show shopping! London really is a shopper’s paradise. Today, I was drawn to Covent Garden, the magical streets are decked with festive lights and all sorts of treats for every Christmas shopper imaginable. From handmade, glittering baubles to a charming little Christmas wreath for my dressing room (made with twinkling pink bows, of course!), I had my work cut out finding everything I needed!

My new, vintage, pastel pink fur scarf is certainly the most exciting acquisition of the day. A perfect festive treat, and oh so flattering with my signature pink tutu! I already imagine all the admiring glances I’ll receive when wearing this combination.

Ballet Dreams on the Cobbled Streets:

Now, one thing you can count on when you’re with me, dear readers, is that I’m never too far from the ballet world, even in the middle of bustling London! On my way to grab a warming mug of hot chocolate and a scrumptious gingerbread latte, I stumbled upon a fantastic surprise – a small, enchanting ballet street performance!

There were these delightful young ballerinas twirling and leaping, their movements as fluid and beautiful as snowflakes falling. It really was magical! They were all decked out in adorable ballerina tutus of course, and their joyful faces and elegant moves made me long for my own barre class.

A Sparkling Evening in the City of Lights:

As the city lights twinkle and reflect upon the Thames, I feel so lucky to be here, soaking up the festive spirit. London truly feels like a fairy tale tonight! The wintery breeze carrying the scent of gingerbread, cinnamon, and roasted chestnuts makes me long for cozy evenings curled up with a cup of something delicious and a good book.

Pink Tutu Reflections:

This day has been everything I dreamed of - filled with joy, colour, laughter, and an enchanting dash of the theatrical. Seeing these amazing performers, it reminded me again that the magic of the world lives within each of us, just waiting for an opportunity to bloom.

But you know, there's more to the pink tutu philosophy than just looking good. It’s about bringing out your own unique style, adding a splash of personality, and remembering to embrace the joy that comes with letting your own special magic shine. It's about seeing the world through pink-tinted spectacles, and that my darlings, is an incredible way to live.

Looking Forward to the Next Adventure:

And, of course, a day like today wouldn't be complete without a reminder that London, like life, is all about the next adventure. Next week, I'll be sharing all about my visit to a fantastic new boutique, "The Tutu Boutique", nestled in a quaint corner of South Kensington. It's bursting with colour and exquisite designs, and they’ve even got a special "Pink Tutu Day" celebration next week! I’ll let you know how I look in my new pink acquisition!

But for now, it’s time for a cosy evening of hot chocolate, twinkling lights, and sweet dreams about dancing ballerinas, festive lights, and all the London wonders waiting to be discovered!

Until next Friday, darlings! Keep those pink tutus twinkling!
