Pink Tutu Blog: London Calling! (Post #1303)
Friday, 20th August 2021
Hello, darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the fabulous capital of London, and just in time for the weekend! Iāve just arrived by train from my beautiful home in Derbyshire, the journey was a dream, the countryside whizzing past and a brilliant book to keep me company. I love those train journeys. Every time feels like an exciting escape to a brand new adventure. And this weekās adventure? It's all about London, darling!
London: Where Ballet Meets Fashion
This week, Iāve been living for the energy of the capital. The hustle and bustle, the art, the fashion, the culture - itās all a whirlwind! London is one of my favourite cities - where better to get your pink tutu fix than right here in the heart of the West End? It feels like the whole cityās humming with the promise of a show and the magic of performance!
I always start my London days with a visit to the Covent Garden Market, and of course, it has to be in full tutu glory! I donāt just want to wear the pink, I want to be the pink - a statement of femininity and pure joy! It was a scorcher of a day, so it felt lovely being swathed in layers of soft tulle. Todayās look was a bright blush-pink tutu, topped off with a whimsical sunflower-printed blouse and a dash of sparkling jewellery. People smiled as I swirled and twirled through the market stalls - a mini performance with each move. I just love bringing a touch of magic to ordinary moments! And let me tell you, London is always ripe for a touch of the dramatic.
Ballet in the City
I was completely over the moon to score some last minute tickets for Giselle at the Royal Opera House. I canāt get enough of classical ballet! And Giselle - itās pure magic. The story of heartbreak, betrayal, and self-sacrifice all played out with such delicate precision in the dancing, itās enough to leave you in a daze for days!
I wore my āSwan Lakeā tutu for the occasion - it has to be the most dramatic tutu I own, layers upon layers of beautiful white tulle, perfectly tailored to make the most of my twirls. The theatre, the music, the performanceā¦ it was all simply breathtaking! Afterwards, we snatched a delicious Indian meal - some delicious creamy lamb curry and saffron rice from a little hidden gem of a restaurant in Soho, just behind the theatre, with a warm atmosphere and beautiful pink and green tiles - I told them I must come back next time for a performance at my local ballet studio!
A Whirlwind Shopping Trip
On my way back to Covent Garden after the show, I took a stroll down Oxford Street. Of course, no trip to London is complete without a shopping spree. I was searching for a statement piece to add to my tutu collection and guess what? I found it! An incredible fuchsia pink tutu from a shop Iād never been to before! It has so many layers it feels like it would lift me right off the ground if I jumped up in it! The sales lady said itās perfect for spinning and dancing - just what I need to create my own whirlwind fashion moment.
After that, I decided to try and squeeze in some time to see what the famous Harrods had in store - it had to be on the list! It really is like a department store for dreams! It has to be one of my all-time favourite shops. Thereās something so wonderfully indulgent about strolling through its gilded hallways, surrounded by the most extraordinary displays. I ended up getting the most divine silk scarf, soft pink with shimmering gold threads. I was dreaming about that colour combo for days!
Afternoon Tea & Fairy Lights
We ended our whirlwind London day with the most perfect afternoon tea at The Shard. And this afternoon tea had an added magic: the whole restaurant was decorated with twinkling fairy lights, giving the whole place a dreamlike ambiance. It felt like a scene out of a ballet, elegant yet whimsically playful. The tea itself was a symphony of flavours: finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and cakes enough to tempt any ballet dancer!
I had a delicious pot of Earl Grey tea. I can't deny I love a good cup of tea! The taste, the smell, the warmth - itās just so soothing.
But the true highlight was the view. It's pretty amazing to have tea in a tower looking over London. The skyline, bathed in the last golden rays of the sunset, felt magical! It made me feel so unbelievably inspired! I already have plans to return for an evening performance at The Shard ā maybe some ballet on the stage there? That would be quite the performance to create ā¦ perhaps a pink tutu ball gown for the occasion?
London Nights
London's magic doesn't stop at daybreak. After tea, we strolled along the Thames, the lights of the city reflecting in the water. It was a wonderful end to a truly amazing London day.
The air felt electric, full of laughter and conversation, and filled with the excitement of live performances! Everywhere I looked, I could see people enjoying themselves, lost in the moment. And London, it's just a beautiful tapestry of culture and energy that never sleeps! Itās always buzzing with new discoveries waiting around the corner, always filled with inspiration!
And, darling, let me tell you - this pink-loving ballerina has certainly found inspiration on my little trip to London.
The Pink Tutu Effect: Spreading Joy
But you know me! My real passion is making the world a little bit more pink. A pink tutu can bring a little magic to everyoneās day! So, here's a little London inspiration for all of you - whatās your excuse? Go out there, wear a pink tutu and spread the love, and remember, life's better with a dash of pink magic! Itās a philosophy that definitely worked for me in London - and I bet it will for you, too!
Have a great weekend everyone, and stay tuned for next weekās pink tutu adventures! You can keep up with all of my adventures by following my website, www.pink-tutu.com!
