Pink Tutu Blog London #1416: A Pink-tastic Friday in the Capital!

Hello my dearest Tutu Twirlers! It's Emma here, your pink-loving, tutu-wearing guide to all things fabulous, and I'm back from a whirlwind Friday in London town!

Oh my goodness, you guys, London is simply enchanting, especially when you're dressed to impress in a delightful pink tutu.

This week, I travelled from Derbyshire by train – the journey is always such a fun adventure! You can bet I added a pop of pink to my outfit (think blush pink knitted cardigan with sparkly pink accessories, naturally!). The carriage was packed with fellow travellers – some were on their way to work, others, like myself, enjoying a weekend escape.

Morning Coffee and a Spot of Shopping

My first stop was a charming little café near Paddington Station called “The Pink Peony.” They do the most amazing pink lattes, and I felt totally on-brand with my delicious cuppa (it even had pink hearts on top!). From there, I headed straight to Oxford Street to find a new tutu for my latest ballet performance. I spotted the most beautiful silk number – a dusky pink with delicate tulle layers and a charming pink bow. Let’s just say it will be making its grand debut at my next performance at the Nottingham Ballet Theatre.

Afternoon Theatre and the "Enchanted Ballerina"

Of course, no trip to London is complete without a theatre trip. This time, I saw “Enchanted Ballerina” at the Drury Lane Theatre – the Royal Ballet put on a spectacular performance. The choreography was breath-taking and the music transported me to a magical fairyland. And you guessed it – the entire set had a touch of pink. It was like they knew I was coming! I’m a huge fan of the Royal Ballet, their costumes are always stunning, and I loved the shimmering fabrics and the way the dancers swirled effortlessly in their soft tutus.

Afternoon Tea, Tutu-style

I had a rather lovely afternoon tea experience in the afternoon! A fancy place called "The Pretty Tea Room" hosted me. You see, they had pink china, and I couldn’t resist popping by. Pink is life, right?! They have a whole range of pastel teas, including rose petal tea, and they served my delicious treats on a pink-hued tiered stand. So perfectly delightful! I spent hours sipping on my tea and dreaming of the next stage of my career.

London by Night – Lights, Camera, Tutu!

As dusk settled on London, I ventured into the heart of Covent Garden for a spot of ballet street dancing – you have to try this if you haven't before! It's such an energetic and playful way to experience dance. A few lovely individuals dressed in vibrant tutus joined me for a whirl of twirls in the squares and lanes. Honestly, watching their skills, I was truly in awe!

My favourite thing about the day, however, was seeing other women (and some daring men) sporting their own unique tutu styles – some pink, some red, some blue! There’s just something about the tutu that unleashes your inner spirit! It is indeed a symbol of fun and confidence for anyone to wear – and I just can’t get enough of it.

A Pink Tutu for Everyone?

I know my ambition may sound a bit silly, but I truly believe that everyone should have a tutu in their wardrobe. They’re so versatile! It can be as flamboyant or as understated as you like, with just a little bit of sparkle here and there. I believe in a world where every woman, girl, or anyone who identifies as a woman (because hey, who says we’ve got to have traditional definitions of femininity) can twirl and dance and feel absolutely fabulous!

And now for some London travel tips:

  • Get a good Oyster card for the underground, it's so convenient!
  • Pick a hotel near one of the tube lines – this saves on travel time.
  • Try the famous "Boris Bikes" for a fun and quick commute.
  • If you like fashion like I do, check out the boutique stores in Notting Hill – find vintage tutus!

London, with its history, its energy and its passion, is a true inspiration! Until next time my Tutu Twirlers, remember: Embrace your individuality, be confident, and never be afraid to twirl in style! I hope you all have a wonderful week! Happy Twirling!

Love, Emma xx
