I'm writing to you today from the heart of Milan, a city that truly knows how to live la dolce vita. This week, my adventures took me by train all the way from the English countryside to Italy. 🚂 I left Derbyshire's rolling green hills and landed right into the fashion capital of the world, and what an incredible experience it has been!
But before I get lost in all the fashion and glamour of Milan, let's talk about something important. Why pink? Why tutus? Why am I, a twirling, tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast, living my best life on a budget? 🤔
Well, it all boils down to this: life is a performance. It’s about finding our own stage, our own spotlight, and embracing the drama, the beauty, and the pure joy of movement. Whether it's pirouettes on pointe, or a simple twirl in a tutu, it's about expressing ourselves, embracing our unique quirks, and sharing our light with the world. 💫
For me, wearing a pink tutu isn't just about aesthetics, it’s a symbol. It represents freedom, creativity, and a playful, happy spirit. 🤸♀️ I truly believe that every girl, and even some fabulous boys, should experience the joy of twirling in a pink tutu. It’s about self-expression and confidence, and that's something I'm passionate about spreading far and wide. 💕

A Parisian Affair
I arrived in Milan feeling absolutely enchanted. My journey by train through the picturesque countryside was incredibly beautiful. The views, the scent of autumn leaves, the rolling hills and tiny towns… It all had a certain charm that even I, a dedicated city girl, found myself completely charmed by!
Once in Milan, I knew I had to make a pit stop at La Scala. This majestic opera house is known throughout the world for its grand scale and stunning architecture. 🎭 Standing outside the majestic doors, I felt the sheer history radiating out of the walls, whispers of countless performers who'd graced its stage. As I toured the theatre and its elegant backstage areas, my imagination ran wild with dreams of my own performance here someday.
But Milan isn't just about its opera houses; there’s a thriving street dance scene that I just had to check out. Imagine - a blending of modern ballet movements with the rhythm and energy of hip hop, creating something vibrant and entirely unique. I had the pleasure of attending a street dance performance last night in the city centre. 💥 It was a breathtaking spectacle! It felt like watching a moving artwork unfold in front of my eyes. My pink tutu may have been out of place, but I definitely stood out with a grin from ear to ear.
Fashion Paradise
Speaking of beauty and vibrancy, you can’t talk about Milan without mentioning its fashion. This city is an absolute feast for the senses, where design and style come to life. I mean, if you can't have some fabulous fashion shopping after seeing La Scala, then there’s no hope for you, right?! I love fashion because it gives me the freedom to create new looks and experiment with my own personal style, and I must admit that some of my pink tutu wardrobe has definitely been influenced by the sleek lines, daring colours, and timeless elegance of Milanese fashion.
From vintage shops bursting with character to modern boutiques showcasing the latest trends, I'm like a child in a candy store! 💖 And guess what I discovered? I found the most incredible vintage pink tutu hidden in a small, tucked-away shop. I can't wait to show you the photo soon on my Instagram page @PinkTutuMilan. It's perfect for all my Milanese performances. 🩰
Fueling the Dream
I mentioned I'm a ballerina who travels the world on a budget. Well, let me tell you, it’s no mean feat! It takes a lot of dedication, a bit of luck, and lots of practice. I'm very grateful for every opportunity I get to perform. From local dance companies and charity events to community halls and grand theatres, every performance is a special moment for me, and I take it as an opportunity to share the beauty of ballet with everyone around me.
Every performance fuels my love for dance, keeps my passion alive, and helps me to continue travelling to places like Milan. I’ve even started selling my custom-made tutus online!

I am not the most gifted dancer, but when I am twirling around, even for the smallest audience of one, it doesn't matter, because I know that joy is contagious. I always go out of my way to engage people and encourage them to take a leap of faith - even if it’s just for a moment! - to embrace their inner child and just enjoy the moment. 💫
