Pink Tutu Milan: A Week of Whirlwind Wanderlust - #123

Buongiorno, darling readers! It's Emma here, your very own pink tutu-clad blogger, back with another instalment from the chic and vibrant city of Milan, Italia. This week has been a whirlwind of tutu twirls, breathtaking ballet, and enough shopping to rival even the most seasoned fashionista.

As always, my pink tutu is my constant companion, gracing the cobblestone streets of Milan with its vibrant hue. This time, I even managed to sneak it into a quick ballet class at the Teatro alla Scala – believe me, the tutus here have a certain…je ne sais quoi!

Speaking of the Scala, Wednesday was absolutely magical. A performance of "La Bayadère" with the divine Roberto Bolle? Mamma Mia, it was breathtaking! The dancers were a vision of grace, their leaps and turns captivating. There's something utterly special about experiencing live ballet in this magnificent theatre – you truly feel the energy of the dancers' passion as it reverberates through the space. The costumes were to die for – elaborate and stunning! But let's be honest, the highlight for me was spotting the occasional splash of pink tutu woven into the elaborate fabric. It's a subtle touch, but it gives it a unique charm, don't you think?

As for my outfit? Pink tutu, naturally! But this week, I decided to give it a little extra pizzazz by adding a black silk camisole underneath – a hint of sophisticated drama against the bubblegum sweetness. I paired it with my favourite sparkly ballerina flats, and my hair in a classic ballerina bun – after all, the real fashion is about blending the graceful lines of the ballet world with the cosmopolitan energy of Milan. I felt ready for the red carpet – even if the only red carpet I saw was the one in the Teatro's foyer!

Before the ballet, though, I made a stop at a little café right next to the Duomo. It was called "Il Ristorante del Duomo," and they have this heavenly hazelnut latte. Si, si - I know you're probably thinking: hazelnut lattes, how quaint! But this was not your average latte, my darlings. It was a creamy dream with hints of cinnamon and a sprinkle of pink sugar – I knew then and there, I had found my new favourite Milanese indulgence.

After the performance, I wandered the bustling streets of Milan. The city seemed to shimmer, all twinkling lights and vibrant shop windows. I even treated myself to a new pink fascinator with a feather plume. A little splash of vintage glamour – just for good measure!

Tram Talk and Tea Times

The tram system here is simply fabulosa. And of course, the pink tutu and I took full advantage of it. My tram ride along Corso Buenos Aires was an absolute riot of fashion. The windows were filled with the most incredible clothes, and the people strolling by seemed to have stepped out of a glamorous film. Milan truly is a city where the sidewalks are your runway. I even caught a couple of street performers who had brought the classic balletto to life, their graceful moves echoing the beautiful art that filled my heart after "La Bayadère."

Of course, I wouldn't be true to my blog name if I didn't indulge in some proper English afternoon tea! Luckily, I stumbled across this charming cafe tucked away in a quiet street near Piazza San Babila. The cafe had lovely floral patterned furniture, porcelain teacups, and even a pianist serenading us with classical tunes! They even had a special "Pink Tutu Afternoon Tea" - imagine a tower of pastries adorned with pink sprinkles, a pot of tea flavoured with rose petals, and dainty little sandwiches, all neatly arranged in a beautiful tiered serving dish. It was like a fairy tale, honestly! I took many photos, of course, and my little tea-party-for-one turned into a delightful way to recharge after my adventures.

Travel Tips:

For anyone considering a trip to Milan, remember, it’s all about experiencing the cultural and historical riches that this city has to offer. Whether you're taking in the art of the Duomo or the magic of the opera, let yourself be transported by the magic of Italy. And, if you have the chance, I highly recommend checking out the Pinacoteca di Brera. This art museum is a real hidden gem, and it holds a few little gems I’m not sure if anyone knows about, especially if you like a certain colour… wink wink… pink.

And, my darling readers, please remember that I finance these fabulous trips through the magical art of ballet. It's amazing what a little grace and poise can achieve! If you are lucky enough to see one of my performances, I'd love for you to come say hello, and who knows, you might even get to catch a glimpse of the infamous pink tutu in action.

I'll be back next week, with even more Parisian fashion and artistic discoveries, and who knows, maybe some more delightful surprises too. Stay fabulous and remember, always be a pink tutu kinda girl. Ciao, for now!
