Pink Tutu Milan: Ciao Bella, #408!
Ciao bellas! It's Wednesday, the 2nd of April, 2003, and your girl Emma's back in Milan, Italy, for another exciting week of twirls and tutus! 🩰✨ This week, I'm channeling all the energy and charm of this magnificent city - it's like a ballet in itself, with its winding streets, chic boutiques, and buzzing atmosphere!
Remember last week's blog post from Rome? I've been meaning to tell you all about that stunning opera performance - oh, the drama, the passion! And the costumes? You wouldn't believe it. Imagine swirling, flowing silks in a symphony of colour, the whole ensemble a vision of opulence and grandeur. I felt like I was swept away to another time and place, completely immersed in the magic of it all. 🎭
And you know what, darlings? It was so rewarding! As you all know, I support myself by performing ballet - it's my passion, my love, and the fuel for all my travels. The energy you give me as a performer fuels my writing, my shopping, and keeps my tutu-filled adventures going. 💗
Now, back to Milan, and today's delightful itinerary! This morning, I enjoyed a delightful cuppa with the most delicious ricotta-stuffed croissant at a local café – so chic! I followed it up with an invigorating ballet class at the wonderful Scuola di Danza La Scala. It was a fantastic workout, leaving me feeling like a swan about to take flight. 🦢
Later, I strolled through the glorious Duomo – I love the intricate details of that incredible cathedral! ⛪ The grandeur of the architecture never ceases to amaze me. It's like stepping into a fairytale! And naturally, I was resplendent in my signature pink tutu. Pink, of course, is the colour of Milan! 🌸
The weather is a bit of a mix today - sun, a little rain, and a hint of a breeze. But I love the variety, don’t you? This evening, I have tickets to see “Giselle” at the Teatro alla Scala – the epitome of romantic ballet! This performance is extra special for me – it marks my friend Giulia's professional ballet debut, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world! Can’t wait to see her on stage! 🤩
Speaking of fashion, darlings, I had a delightful little shopping spree earlier. Did you know, Milan is the fashion capital of Italy? I couldn't resist buying a fabulous pair of ballet flats - you know, the ones with the delicate little bows - at a delightful little boutique just off the Via della Spiga. Just the right amount of whimsical sparkle to add a touch of pink tutu magic to any outfit. 🎀
Tomorrow, I’ll take the tram through the heart of the city to catch a street performance by some talented dancers at the Piazza della Scala - it's such a fun and free-flowing atmosphere. We always enjoy sharing a laugh over a latte after, and of course, indulging in the most delicious gelato!
Life in Milan is all about enjoying the little moments – the laughter, the sights, and, of course, the occasional slice of indulgent cake! And, most importantly, embracing the joy of movement, of swirling, of expressing oneself through dance. 💃
So, darling, stay tuned for more Milanese adventures next week! Until then, be sure to wear your pink tutus, and let’s make the world a little brighter, one twirl at a time.
Love always, Emma xx
