Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 30th November, 2005 - Post #547
Ciao bella!
It's Wednesday in Milano, and my heart is fluttering with excitement, much like a dancer about to take centre stage! This week, I'm bringing you all the pink-tastic delights of Milan, a city that has stolen a little piece of my heart. From the vibrant shops to the awe-inspiring ballet, this city oozes elegance and creativity.
Oh, and let me tell you, the gelato is divine! I'm seriously thinking about starting a "Gelato of the Week" section on my blog, because I can't resist those dreamy creamy delights!
Today, I woke up feeling like a ballerina princess in my frilly pink tulle skirt (I really cannot go a day without a touch of pink!) and decided to take the scenic route through the streets. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, and the city felt full of life.
One of the best things about being in a new city, I think, is getting to explore it with all of your senses - the smell of the bakeries, the sounds of street music, the vibrant colours everywhere you look... I love it all!
My day was spent hopping between bustling shops and serene art galleries, and, of course, sampling the city's amazing selection of coffee and pastries. It's no wonder they call it the 'Fashion Capital of the World'. There are boutiques literally on every corner, filled with the latest creations. You wouldn't believe the fab hat I found yesterday in a little vintage shop nestled in one of Milan's backstreets!
But the real reason I'm here is the ballet! Today, I caught a performance of the legendary "Swan Lake", and let me tell you, it was pure magic. The grace and skill of the dancers was simply breathtaking! Watching them soar across the stage was truly inspiring, reminding me of why I started dancing all those years ago back in Derbyshire, England.
Speaking of my Derbyshire days, I still remember the excitement I felt as a young girl, wearing my first tutu! Those days were filled with dreams of pirouettes and leaping through the air. And guess what? I even met a couple of lovely young dancers at a café last night who had traveled all the way from London for the show. I just adore seeing ballet bring people together!
Anyway, the point is: the passion for ballet has brought me right here, to Milan! It's such a fantastic feeling, you know? Being able to follow my dreams, live my life with colour and passion, and share my journey with all of you!
I think that's probably why I have so much fun blogging. It allows me to explore, learn, and connect with like-minded people from around the world. Just the other day I received an email from a lovely girl in Germany who loves to sew and wear pink tutus just like me! And this makes me think: maybe my "pink tutu mission" of inspiring the world to embrace their inner ballerina is working after all! 😉
Later tonight, I'm going to indulge in a bit of Italian glamour. There's a beautiful concert happening in the Teatro alla Scala, and of course, I'll be decked out in my most glamorous pink ensemble! It's such a treat to be able to take in the incredible performances Milan has to offer.
For me, there is just something about Milan. The cobblestone streets, the grandeur of the architecture, the aroma of espresso wafting from every cafe... It all feels so... Italian!
But speaking of travels, I've got to say, my heart belongs on the road. And my next adventure is just around the corner! Next week, I'll be hopping aboard a train (don't worry, I've found a cute vintage pink suitcase to carry all my essentials - how could I possibly resist?!) and heading to another vibrant European city! I can't share my destination just yet, but I can promise that it's going to be an absolute fairytale!
In the meantime, if you're feeling inspired by my adventures, why not slip on a pink tutu and join me on the dance floor of life? I believe everyone deserves to experience the joy of twirling under the spotlight!
Until next time,
Your very own Pink Tutu Blogger,
Emma 💖
P.S. I’ve been busy perfecting my ballet barre routine in the hotel room (even the walls need a bit of dance!), so you’ll have to excuse the fact I’ve forgotten to tell you that my blog is on www.pink-tutu.com, if you haven’t guessed already. Also, I’m able to keep my travel bug ticking over by doing performances and masterclasses (ballet lessons!), it’s so much fun to meet other people that love ballet. So come join me, because let’s face it, life’s a performance and you’ve got to show up looking your best!
Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 30th November 2005 - ContinuedThe Top 3 Pinkest Things I Discovered This Week
Okay, it’s official, I am hooked on pink. Maybe even a little pink obsessed, I’ll admit it! But who can resist a city as charming and vibrant as Milan, it practically encourages it, you know? It feels like you just HAVE to find a special little pink something to keep as a memento! So without further ado, let's talk pink…
1. The Pinkest Pink
While exploring one of the more exclusive boutiques in Milan, I discovered this stunning fuchsia pink silk scarf, oh my goodness, I had to have it. It was silky smooth and felt so elegant. I know, I know, another scarf... but, I think it'll make the perfect addition to any of my future ballet performances! The lady in the shop who was a proper elegant Milanese lady (all long dark hair and classic black dresses!), even told me that she would make it into a beautiful tutu! Can you imagine, a custom made tutu designed by the very chic Italians?! Oh my! Just thinking about it makes me tingle with anticipation.
2. Pink with a Hint of Sass
As a ballerina, a shoe-a-holic, a total shoe lover (call me Carrie Bradshaw!), and basically a fan of shoes that make a statement, how could I not fall in love with the bright hot pink ballet flats I stumbled upon? These babies are just begging to be worn with a black tutu and some bold earrings, it will make a great look. I couldn't resist picking them up for a bit of Milan-inspired street style! I have visions of wearing them whilst running around the city grabbing an espresso on my way to see the next great show at Teatro alla Scala!
3. A Pinky Paradise:
Honestly, I cannot imagine a world without pink, but imagine a place dedicated solely to the wonderful colour, with just so much pink that it makes you think pink. You need to go visit this shop on the street corner that sells just so many different shades of pink paint and dyes. Imagine all the pink outfits that I can create once I’m back home!
Let’s Talk Shopping!
I am definitely making the most of Milan's famous shopping scene, and oh my goodness, there's so much gorgeous pink. From stunning blush-pink cashmere sweaters to dazzling fuchsia dresses that would make a princess swoon! The best part? Milan is full of charming vintage shops with unexpected gems hidden around every corner.
Honestly, shopping for a ballet dancer is not an easy feat. It takes some time and some serious thinking! Of course, I need the most gorgeous tutu imaginable, but I also love clothes, bags, shoes… Oh, I think I need another blog! Maybe that'll have to wait till I'm home and actually back in my routine.
The Pinkest Dance Tip I've Learned This Week
Here is one I want to share, a tip that came from watching "Swan Lake" (it's my favourite ballet! I love watching it performed all over the world):
- The Importance of Posture and Graceful Movement: Okay, we all know ballet is graceful but watching those elegant movements makes you want to reach for the highest bar! The dancers hold themselves with such confidence and poise. I'm going to use this as my motto this week – always remember to keep your head held high and move with elegance!
This week, I encourage you to explore the world of pink! Try on a new shade, add a touch of blush to your makeup, or simply embrace the vibrant energy that the color evokes. Pink is a powerful statement of love, beauty, and individuality. I know I can count on you all to rock that pink, ladies!
Until next time, darling,
Emma 💖
