Pink Tutu Milan - Post 627 - 13th June 2007
Ciao bella!
Well, it's Wednesday and guess where your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving ballerina is? Milan, darling! Yes, the fashion capital of the world, the city of beautiful buildings, stunning food, and the most fabulous fashion boutiques in Europe (and perhaps the world!)
Milan is my new home for a couple of weeks - a real treat, as it's not every day a Derbyshire girl gets to dance around the Italian fashion scene, is it?
You see, my dearest readers, it all started when I secured a fantastic performance opportunity at a prestigious ballet school here in Milan. They needed a young, enthusiastic dancer with a unique flair (and you know I have that, thanks to my signature pink tutu!) for a special workshop for young students. It's been an amazing experience, and you just wouldn't believe the fabulousness of this place!
Oh, before I get carried away by the pure glamour, let me tell you how I arrived here, like a princess, of course.
My journey began at my charming Derbyshire cottage, tucked away amongst rolling hills and sheep-filled meadows. My dear mum, the ultimate pink-tutu-enthusiast, waved me off with a heart full of pride and a bag full of home-baked treats. You know me, can't travel without a little something sweet, can I?
After a delightful train journey through the English countryside, I hopped onto the Eurostar, excited and buzzing about all the new sights and adventures Milan would bring. You'd think the trip across Europe might feel daunting for a pink-tutu-clad ballerina, but you wouldn't believe how many friendly faces you encounter when you're adorned in the colour of love and grace.
I received so many kind smiles, compliments, and even invitations for spontaneous photo shoots during my travels! Of course, I embraced it all with my signature smile and twinkle in my eye.
Speaking of smiles, Milan's been giving me many, many of them. I've spent my first days here completely overwhelmed by the energy, the beauty, and the pure Italian charm that bursts from every corner. The cobbled streets, the historical architecture, the smell of fresh-baked bread and espresso… I could walk around this city forever and never get tired of discovering new hidden gems.
And of course, what would a trip to Milan be without indulging in some fabulous shopping? Yes, darling, my pockets are now lighter, but my wardrobe is bursting with fantastic finds - some chic, feminine dresses that perfectly complement my pink tutu (imagine a pastel pink dress with a vibrant, frothy pink tutu… so dreamy!).
There's so much to tell you about my Milan adventure so far: the enchanting ballet performances, the enchanting cobblestone streets, the friendly faces (not just a few were wearing pink tutus too, imagine that!) I even had a chance to catch a street ballet performance - you wouldn't believe the passion and grace! It left me utterly captivated, as did the fabulous ballet shows I attended at the Teatro alla Scala. It's breathtaking to see these stories told through the art of dance, isn't it?
Let's not forget the most delicious food I've ever had - my Italian-loving taste buds are truly singing. Oh, I am absolutely in love with Milan, with its warm, vibrant heart and enchanting soul. It's a city that seems to welcome you with open arms and an irresistible Italian "ciao!"
I promise, I have so much more to tell you about my Milan adventure: from my delicious lunches at secret cafes to my adventures exploring hidden courtyards, my daily tram journeys, the sights and sounds of Milan, the wonderful people, and all the adventures yet to come.
Oh, and of course, you know my pink tutu has been making waves here, sparking conversation and inspiring smiles - my mission is spreading its charm across the world, and I feel I'm making good progress here!
So, join me again next Monday, darlings, when I’ll be sharing my experiences and discovering more hidden treasures in the beautiful city of Milan. I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Ciao for now, and remember - keep twirling, keep dreaming, and keep believing in the magic of a pink tutu.
Until next time,
Emma xx
