Pink Tutu Milan #639: Bonjour, Bella Milano!

Buongiorno, darling readers! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, back from the cobbled streets of Milan with a whole new bag of Italian style to share! Today, my lovely blog comes to you straight from the heart of the fashion capital, a place where the cobblestones whisper stories of fashionistas, artists, and the undeniable magic of la dolce vita.

This week's #PinkTutuMilan adventure whisked me away to the heart of the city. My little pink tutu, aptly named "Rosy," twirled its way through the crowds, earning approving smiles from passers-by and an occasional, "Bellissima!" from a dapper signore. I just can't help but think my pink tutu is the perfect ambassador for a city as stylish as Milan. After all, isn't fashion about self-expression, about wearing your heart on your sleeve, or should I say, on your tulle?

Let's rewind a bit. This whole Milan escapade began with a charming journey aboard the train. Now, let's just say my favourite part of the journey wasn't the sleek modernity of the high-speed train but the cosy charm of the local carriages. I confess, I just couldn't resist settling down in the second class compartment and striking up a conversation with a local nonna, or granny. It turns out, this lady had some serious fashion knowledge! Apparently, the best vintage shops in Milan were tucked away in quiet back alleys, a treasure trove just waiting to be discovered. Armed with a handwritten list from this nonna, who looked just as chic as a model from Vogue, I embarked on a mission for some fashion inspiration.

Of course, my trip to Milan wouldn't be complete without a visit to the world-famous La Scala opera house. The opulence and elegance of this place simply took my breath away! This is a temple to the arts, an architectural marvel and a true homage to the magic of performance. This building feels steeped in history and every nook and cranny speaks of decades of legendary performances.

While I can’t reveal what was being performed today, you can bet the dress code was fabulous! Think flowing gowns and crisp tuxedos for the discerning audience. There was an air of expectation, anticipation, and just a smidgen of drama hanging in the air. You could almost feel the history of La Scala seeping into your soul, making you want to break out in a little impromptu pirouette (but I wouldn't dare! A pink tutu on the steps of La Scala? Perhaps a bit too much, even for me).

After the opera house, a quick tram ride brought me to a cute little trattoria tucked away in a back street. My oh my, did those spaghetti carbonara put a big ol' smile on my face! They were truly divine. The aromas swirling around me, the cosy ambience, the charming staff, it all created an atmosphere that reminded me why Italy holds a special place in my heart. It's the magic of life’s simple pleasures!

But Milan, darling, wouldn’t be Milan without some serious shopping. This city is a playground for any fashionista, filled with boutique after boutique, each vying for your attention with its own unique personality. From the sleek elegance of designer brands to the independent gems hiding in charming alleys, Milan boasts an endless variety to tempt any shopaholic. Of course, I found myself getting lost in the beautiful silk scarves, a truly irresistible delight, especially when they were adorned with enchanting, delicate flowers. I just can't resist a gorgeous scarf that perfectly matches my pink tutu!

You see, there's a philosophy that I live by, a credo of sorts - “Never miss a chance to sparkle”. This doesn't have to mean being the loudest person in the room or going overboard with glitter, but finding your own inner sparkle. For me, that sparkle is embodied in a little pink tutu. This beautiful tulle companion takes me all over the world and embodies everything I stand for - fashion, beauty, kindness, and of course, the unwavering love for ballet.

After all, my darling readers, I believe that everyone deserves to twirl their way through life, embracing joy and spreading a little bit of pink magic along the way. So next time you’re feeling a bit flat, or life's got you feeling blah, just remember my little motto - go pink, go sparkle, go dance!

The week’s blog ends with me having a quick espresso, while looking at the beautiful architecture of Milan. Every window and street corner tells a story in this enchanting city! This blog wouldn't be complete without a call to action! Tell me your favourite part of Milan or about your recent ballet performance! Let’s hear those dance-worthy tales! I want to hear everything you love! Don’t forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com next Monday for another captivating #PinkTutuMilan post.

Until then, stay pink and twirl beautifully!

Yours in tulle, Emma x
