Pink Tutu Milan: #645 A Pink Tutu Whirlwind in Milan!

Buongiorno, darlings!

It’s Wednesday, which means another #PinkTutuMilan post from yours truly, Emma, in the beautiful and chic city of Milan! I just had to write this blog post right now as I’m sipping a cappuccino, overlooking the vibrant streets, and my pink tutu feels practically vibrating with excitement for what this week has in store. And trust me, you wouldn't believe the amazing things I’ve experienced so far, and it's only Wednesday!

You might remember from last week’s post that I was on a train journey to Italy, and oh my goodness, did I tell you about how stunning it was? Rolling past green meadows and charming villages, the landscapes truly enchanted me. I was mesmerized by the endless olive groves and vineyards, all bathed in that warm, Italian sunshine. It felt like a fairytale come to life! And what makes these train journeys so delightful is the chance to indulge in my travel must-have – a good book, my headphones, and a glass of Italian sparkling wine (because I believe every trip needs a touch of indulgence!).

I am so incredibly thrilled to finally be in Milan, the city that oozes sophistication, art, fashion and... well, you know, pink! Let’s be honest, how can a girl who lives in a pink tutu NOT be thrilled about visiting Milan? It's like a dream come true! From the moment I stepped out of the train station, the buzz of Milan engulfed me - sleek cars gliding down the streets, beautifully dressed people walking around, the scent of coffee and fresh pastry filling the air - it’s like a symphony for the senses!

And to celebrate my arrival, what better than a little pink tutu dance under the iconic Duomo, right? It was magical! Watching the sunlight play upon the marble facade, and seeing the pigeons swirling around as I pirouetted in my pink tulle delight, I couldn't have wished for a more magical moment. (I may or may not have even performed a petit allegro... in front of a few startled tourists - whoops! I'm always happy to spread a little ballet joy!).

This weekend I was blessed to get to see the Scala theatre (Teatro Alla Scala), the iconic Italian opera house, and, oh darling, it’s just as impressive as everyone says. Standing in front of it, I was literally speechless! Such opulence and elegance! Every detail is simply exquisite, from the lavish interior adorned with ornate gold detailing to the intricate marble staircases that whispered stories of the famous opera singers and dancers who have graced its stage over the years. I swear I could feel the magic in the air just standing outside!

Of course, no trip to Milan would be complete without indulging in a bit of shopping. My goodness, this city is a fashion wonderland! I’ve already discovered several delightful shops – oh my, they’re bursting with colour and style! I must admit, I already had to have a tiny little spree, a couple of pink satin ballet shoes and a delicate rose gold chain with a miniature pink tutu charm for my bag – after all, a pink tutu needs accessories! (My little tutu travel bag that I carry my essentials in is, of course, a glorious shade of pink!) I was especially happy to spot a darling little vintage boutique filled with the most fabulous frocks, where I nabbed a gorgeous silk dress that would be perfect for a fancy cocktail event later this week – and guess what? It’s in my favorite color, a delicious shade of dusky rose!

But enough about me and my shopping sprees! It’s all about the amazing city of Milan, darlings! I’ve just spent a truly blissful afternoon at a charming café right on Piazza della Repubblica, surrounded by the beauty of Milan's architecture, enjoying a perfect cappuccino and listening to the lively hum of city life. Milan is such a lively place, filled with vibrant culture, fascinating people, and a buzz that’s just contagious!

Let me tell you, the atmosphere in the streets of Milan is just amazing! There’s such a joyful energy in the air - people enjoying coffee in the sun, laughing together, couples strolling hand-in-hand. And of course, everyone's looking incredibly stylish, from the chic ladies with their designer handbags to the cool guys in their perfectly tailored suits. I love the passion that people have for fashion here; there's such a celebration of style. I’ve already fallen in love with Milan’s energy and passion, it’s practically radiating! And did I mention how much I love their fashion? Of course, I did! And I just had to mention that I’ve already been spotted in the streets a few times wearing my trusty pink tutu – and let me tell you, the look on people's faces is priceless! Some are amused, others are a little shocked (though with a hint of admiration – at least that's what I tell myself!) – but I absolutely adore that my pink tutu sparks conversation, breaks down barriers, and brings a smile to their faces. Why can't everyone wear a pink tutu? Think of how much more joyful and free our world would be!

Speaking of which, you wouldn’t believe who I met today - an incredibly talented street dancer with a beautiful, almost spiritual, approach to her dancing. The grace and fluidity of her movements had me utterly captivated! We chatted a bit, and I asked if she would be open to joining me on a little performance in front of the iconic Milan Duomo, as a celebration of the magic of street dancing. And to my absolute delight, she said yes! We spent the afternoon perfecting our routine. And let me tell you, seeing a dancer of her caliber in a tutu is just magical – I couldn't resist adding some vibrant pink highlights into her braids. After all, a pink tutu needs some pink friends!

That evening we put on quite the show. The energy on that Piazza was incredible, and our performance was so much fun! People were laughing and applauding, and it felt like a real connection between us, them, and the incredible history of that city. Seeing the look of delight on the children's faces was the ultimate reward - I couldn’t stop smiling! And to top it all off, we ended our show by twirling together – me in my pink tulle delight and her with the gorgeous grace of a dancer who truly knows her craft. We are truly a dream team!

And you know what, darlings? That moment in the spotlight, under the watchful gaze of the Duomo, filled with the music and laughter of the crowd - it was pure magic! It really reminds me why I dance, and how my pink tutu truly connects me to something much bigger than myself - It connects me to beauty, to creativity, to joy! And in those fleeting moments, I can feel truly alive! And what is better than bringing a little bit of that magic to the streets of Milan?

After a lovely evening dancing with my new dance partner, we shared some incredible authentic pasta with fresh, juicy tomatoes (which we savored over delicious prosecco – yes, even the locals love prosecco!), and talked about the power of movement and music and the connection it brings us to each other. It was just like a scene out of a movie, a night I won't forget.

Today is Wednesday in Milan, and I already know that this is going to be a spectacular day. And who knows what tomorrow will bring? Perhaps some stunning art, a delectable pastry, a whirlwind tour through the stunning art museums, and another captivating ballet performance – after all, it's Milan, where magic awaits at every corner!

Until next week, darling friends, stay sparkly!

Sending you all love,

Emma xxx
