Buongiorno, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad traveller, Emma, here, writing to you live from the fashion capital of the world - Milano! I just can't get over how stylish this city is. It's like a catwalk, literally everywhere you look. From the chic Milanese ladies strolling in their fabulous ensembles to the incredible window displays showcasing the latest collections, it's a feast for the eyes!
This week marks my third week in Milano and I've barely scratched the surface. This glorious city is just overflowing with excitement, charm and, of course, exquisite style. I can't wait to share it all with you. So grab your favourite pink tutu, brew yourself a cup of tea (or prosecco, it's practically the national drink here!), and let's get on with it!
A Love Affair with the Tram
The best thing about Milano? Well, aside from the incredible food, fabulous fashion, and those dreamy cobbled streets... it has to be the trams!
Let me paint a picture for you: you're gliding through the city streets in a beautifully restored tram, its bright yellow carriage cutting through the vibrant Milanese scenery. You're surrounded by stylish locals, their fashion sense effortlessly blending traditional charm with cutting-edge contemporary. It's truly inspiring, my darlings.
And let's talk about the efficiency of it all! These trams are clean, they run like clockwork, and best of all, they take you everywhere you need to go, from the grand Duomo to the picturesque Navigli canals, the trams are your trusty chariot through this captivating city.
Speaking of captivating... did I tell you I saw the most exquisite pink tutu dress at this delightful vintage shop called Viale Montenapoleone? I'm dying to get my hands on it - a touch of Parisian romance with a Milanese twist, darling. Oh, I can already envision it with a vintage hair scarf and some fabulous pearls... Perfection!
Backstage at the Teatro alla Scala
Okay, prepare yourselves for a moment of pure ballet magic! This week, I had the honour of seeing a performance at the legendary Teatro alla Scala - an absolute dream come true, my dears. I was like a little kid at Christmas, bursting with excitement!
The theatre itself is a masterpiece of neoclassical architecture. As you step inside, it's like entering a time capsule. The grandeur of the space is utterly awe-inspiring. Just walking through the theatre's grand entrance puts you in a regal mood!
And the performance? Mesmerising! Every movement was poetry in motion, the choreography exquisite, and the music absolutely breathtaking. I was spellbound, utterly captivated, every cell in my body vibrated with the joy of it all! The whole experience was simply divine!
You can imagine, as a devoted ballerina myself, being backstage at the Teatro alla Scala was an experience that will stay with me forever. I managed to have a little peek behind the curtain, where I saw dancers, set designers, costume makers and stage managers working tirelessly to bring their art to life. It was an incredible privilege to be a part of it all, even if just for a few magical moments.
Pink Tutu Adventures at La Scala
Now, who would have thought that I, the Queen of the Pink Tutu, would find so much inspiration in a city known for its elegant simplicity? But Milan has completely captured my heart! I've already begun planning my next adventures, including...
Taking a ballet class in a palazzo! (Just imagine practicing pirouettes amidst soaring arches and sparkling chandeliers... my heart skips a beat just thinking about it!)
Going on a shopping spree in the fashion district. (What a way to discover the latest trends, isn't it?)
Discovering hidden gems like art galleries, artisan workshops, and charming boutiques!
I'm bursting with ideas, dear readers. I think this Milan trip just might inspire my next tutu creation!
