Pink Tutu Milan: #679 - Milan Fashion Week!

Hello darlings!

It’s Emma here, writing to you from the glorious, sun-drenched city of Milan! As you know, I always adore a new adventure, and this week has been particularly exciting! It’s been all about fashion, fabulous food, and, of course, a touch of pink!

I’m actually a bit of a late bloomer, arriving in Milan a couple of days after Milan Fashion Week had kicked off. Don’t worry, though! I still got a fabulous taste of the excitement and, of course, captured the best bits for you all.

Speaking of arriving a little late, I was running behind schedule myself this week. My latest tour de force performance – an absolutely breathtaking rendition of Swan Lake in Derbyshire – went on just a tad longer than planned. Cue the dramatic sigh.

My darling, adoring, supportive family insisted on celebrating after the show, which was so sweet of them, but of course, meant I had to rush off to catch the midnight train from Derby to Euston. The train journey to London felt endless (no, the pink tutus weren't comfy enough for sleeping, darling!), but when I finally reached London and collapsed onto the plush red seat in the Eurostar, I felt a wave of relief. This trip was well and truly underway!

But back to Milan... After arriving in the bustling, energetic heart of this fashion city, the first thing I did was settle into my charming little apartment - it’s right in the middle of the historic centre, just a few tram stops away from the Duomo. And it has a balcony that offers the most amazing view of the rooftops!

It wasn’t all about resting, darling! It was straight to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II for a spot of serious fashion window gazing. You could feel the creative energy just swirling in the air. Imagine a catwalk, and just imagine if you replaced the models with those exquisite shop windows filled with the most divine garments! I think they should run a “windows-only” fashion week – don’t you?

On Tuesday morning, I joined the crowds who had already been savoring all the delights that Milan has to offer. I spent the morning shopping in the fabulous department stores – don't even ask me how much pink I bought! After all, it's not Milan fashion week without a pink touch, is it?

A big "bravo" to those beautiful, artistic women - yes, darling, I was inspired by the amazing female artists who showcased their unique perspectives, proving that fashion is much more than just clothes - it’s about empowerment, confidence, and a touch of sheer elegance that resonates with a girl who adores pink and the joy of a twirl!

Lunch in a little café off the beaten track (delicious pizza, you bet!) led into the most wonderful surprise! Imagine me, strolling down a sunny street, and right before my eyes, a Ballet class – a delightful sight that lifted my spirit and sparked the ballerina within! I had to step into this gorgeous, inviting dance studio and do a few pirouettes for myself, in full pink glory, of course!

Later that afternoon, I explored the Teatro alla Scala - what a beautiful opera house. The architecture is just breathtaking and the energy is palpable – just walking around those grand halls puts you in a dramatic mood. Then a delicious dinner - a plate of creamy gnocchi - that put a spring in my step for my performance that evening, which, of course, took place in the beautiful, vibrant Teatro Manzoni theatre, nestled right in the heart of the action, where the energy of this Italian gem had a way of working its magic.

This is the best part: on Tuesday night I was blessed to perform the leading role in a truly stunning production of "Sleeping Beauty," choreographed by none other than the magnificent Maestro Vincenzo de Simone! It's a real privilege for me to bring to life this timeless tale - a blend of grace and tenderness.

Every show is a celebration, every performance an adventure!

You might wonder, what about this date? The 11th June 2008 - did it mark something special? You bet, darlings! This particular evening saw the stunning opening of the “Sposaitalia by Sì SposaItaliafashion week dedicated to bridal fashion. A fantastic event where my eyes (and camera) were absolutely spoiled!

My little Pink Tutu heart did a triple pirouette when I saw the stunning display of designer wedding gowns! Now I’ve been dreaming in pink, but imagine the pink princess-like bridal gown fantasies coming alive – a sight that would melt any ballerina's heart! Imagine the twirls on the big day, imagine the elegant ballet steps walking down the aisle, all the magical movements - oh, the elegance, the beauty - pure pink dreaminess!

The streets were alive with brides-to-be, each a beautiful and elegant fairytale princess.

My love for pink? Undying. But you know, watching these bridal fashion displays got me thinking... could a pink tutu be the perfect “something borrowed” for a bride’s big day? Perhaps a sweet and playful addition for a touch of unforgettable fun, an accessory for those all-important photographs! Now there’s an idea - the Pink Tutu Wedding Collection - a girl’s dream! Just thinking out loud!

On Wednesday, I started my day with a delightful brunch at the amazing ‘Bar Martini’ overlooking the beautiful* ‘Duomo di Milano'*. Imagine being surrounded by exquisite buildings with gorgeous marble facades, and delicious aromas drifting through the air – and of course, a perfect cup of coffee to set my day in motion.

It was back to my window shopping exploration – you'd be surprised what inspiration you find behind glass! And I am constantly surprised at the elegance that this city breathes! Every corner, every turn is a perfect photo opportunity for my little Pink Tutu blog!

Then a delightful walk in Giardini Pubblici a peaceful, lush sanctuary right in the heart of Milan – a beautiful oasis filled with flowers in bloom. It’s like a little piece of heaven tucked away from the city bustle – ideal for dreamy inspiration, don’t you think?

Now I am heading for an exciting adventure... fashion inspiration in Milan – and a performance at Teatro Dal Verme. What could be better? I am filled with anticipation and a touch of pink glitter in my heart - don’t you know how inspiring Italy is! This city is brimming with artistic spirit - and it’s infectious! I feel like a real, live dancing muse!

Don't worry - I will report back on everything that awaits on the big stage. Don't forget to pop by the website and look at the pictures - they really capture the essence of Milan! And I must add, there are some sneaky shots of some fabulous tutus – because what else would a ballet blog be about, darling?

Love always,

Emma
