Pink Tutu Milan: #682 - Ciao Bella, from the City of Fashion!

Wednesday, 2008-07-02

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from Milan, the fashion capital of the world! The air is buzzing with creativity, the streets are awash in vibrant colours, and every shop window seems to be showcasing the latest couture. It’s a city that’s bursting with inspiration, and I'm totally soaking it up!

As you know, I'm all about sharing my passion for dance, fashion, and travelling – all wrapped up in a (you guessed it!) pink tutu. And here in Milan, it feels like I’ve found my element! It’s the perfect place for a tutu-loving ballerina with a penchant for pink to explore.

But before I delve into the fashion wonderland that is Milan, let me tell you how I got here. After all, my travels are fueled by my dance performances! This past week, I graced the stage in a tiny, charming village nestled in the Derbyshire hills. Think quaint tea rooms, sheep grazing in rolling green meadows, and the most gorgeous thatched-roof cottages you’ve ever seen. It was idyllic, and the local audience were absolute darlings, showering me with enthusiastic applause.

However, my time there was short, for I had Milan calling. And how do I get to my beautiful destinations, you might ask? Well, trains and trams, of course! I've found such joy in travelling by public transport - you see so much of the real local life, and the sheer delight of listening to languages you can't understand just adds to the adventure!

So here I am in Milan, and my trusty pink tutu is already gathering envious glances and enthusiastic compliments. It seems even the most fashion-forward city has a soft spot for a little bit of pink!

Speaking of fashion, I simply must tell you about the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Oh, darling, it is simply exquisite! This magnificent shopping arcade is a haven for luxury fashion, with elegant boutiques, ornate chandeliers, and mosaic floors that gleam like a thousand stars. I practically danced my way through it, swirling my tutu and dreamily admiring the displays of Chanel, Gucci, Prada, you name it! It's like stepping back in time while still being very much in the midst of the modern world!

Of course, no trip to Milan would be complete without experiencing its breathtaking Teatro alla Scala. Last night, I was lucky enough to see a captivating production of "La Traviata." The singers were simply sublime, their voices filling the opulent hall with passion and drama, the orchestra playing with such emotion and grace... I was absolutely captivated! Even without the dancing, the entire theatre experience was a treat. The exquisite architecture, the air of elegance and tradition, and of course, the phenomenal performers... It's a truly unforgettable experience, and it reminded me why I love dance so much, in all its forms!

Of course, no visit to Milan can be complete without indulging in some delicious Italian food. Last night, I tucked into the most heavenly pizza in a small, unassuming trattoria, just around the corner from my little hotel. Thin, crispy crust, a delicious tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella… it was the perfect way to round off a wonderful day!

Now, darling, before I go, I want to hear from you! What are you doing this week? Have you been to Milan? What’s your favourite pink outfit? Do share your thoughts in the comments below.

Remember, it's always a good day to wear a pink tutu!
