Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 2009-03-11 (Post 718)

Buongiorno, darlings!

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, Pink Tutu Milan, your one-stop shop for all things pink, twirly, and utterly fabulous! Today, I'm writing to you from the heart of Milan, the city of fashion, style, and (you guessed it!) ballet! I know what you're thinking – Milan? That's hardly the place you'd expect a pink-tutu clad ballerina to be, but let me tell you, Milan is where dreams are made.

This week has been a whirlwind of activity, from shopping on the Via Montenapoleone (ooh la la, so many pretty shoes!), to catching a dazzling performance of Swan Lake at the Teatro alla Scala, all while twirling my way through the city in my favourite pink tutu (it’s my "Pink Periwinkle" tutu for all you aficionados of all things tulle).

Now, I wouldn't be true to my blog name if I didn't confess that I have fallen hopelessly in love with the Milanese fashion scene. Imagine a city brimming with luxurious shops, cobblestone streets echoing with the click of stilettos, and beautiful people with impeccable style - it's simply a sartorial dream come true. The Milanese embrace the bold and the beautiful with open arms, and let me tell you, my pink tutus are getting more than a few envious glances!

Speaking of envious glances, my darling, I even saw a man today rocking a pink bowtie! It was just the cutest thing - and honestly, if a man can pull off pink, I reckon everyone can.

This weekend is going to be filled with even more exciting adventures. On Saturday, I’m off to the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, an exquisite museum filled with artistic treasures. I’ve heard the fashion collections are simply divine – it's a must-visit for any fashion enthusiast! And to make it even more glamorous, I'll be wearing my "Sugarplum Dreams" tutu - you've simply gotta be prepared to stand out amongst the fashion elite, right?

And because no weekend in Milan is complete without a bit of theatre, I’ll be catching a performance of La Traviata at the Teatro alla Scala on Sunday. Opera is one of those things that really transports you to another time and place, and the Scala is renowned for its majestic setting and talented performers. Plus, the fashion! I mean, you just know the Milanese will dress to the nines for such a spectacular event.

Speaking of dressing up, I just wanted to let you know about a fab new pink tutu I got in the mail! It's a pale pink tulle masterpiece I'm calling “Pink Petal," I absolutely cannot wait to debut it in Milan next week – a perfect choice for strolling along the canals, perhaps, or enjoying an al fresco lunch at one of the chic cafes I’ve been eyeing up. I can just picture it, the sun shining, my Pink Petal tutu billowing gently in the breeze, as I enjoy a delightful glass of prosecco and a delectable plate of pasta – absolute bliss!

As a treat for you lovely lot, I’m going to do something a bit different today. I'm sharing some of my favourite tips for traveling in Milan, and of course, I’m putting a little bit of a pink-tutu spin on it because, well, why not?

My Top Pink Tutu Milan Tips:
  1. Embrace the tram! Milan's tram network is excellent for getting around the city quickly and affordably. Think of it as a glamorous carriage taking you from one magical destination to another. Plus, it's the perfect opportunity to show off your pink tutu, particularly with my favourite – the vintage, green “Tram 1.” I always try and catch it on my adventures - it’s a definite photo-op!

  2. Make a date with gelato! It’s an absolute necessity, especially in a city known for its beautiful squares and vibrant streets. The Italians know their gelato - trust me, the quality and flavour combinations are just phenomenal. Grab yourself a cone of gelato and soak up the Milanese sun. My go-to gelato is the strawberry and ricotta flavour from Gelateria della Palma - just the perfect taste of sweetness after a day of ballet training or sightseeing!

  3. Shop for local delicacies at the markets: There are markets galore in Milan – they offer everything from artisanal cheeses and cured meats to stunning bouquets of fresh flowers. It’s a delightful way to discover the flavours of Italy and support local producers. It's an absolute feast for the senses – and I mean that literally! My latest find is a small shop near the Duomo selling gorgeous pink macarons. Yes, it’s all about the pink for me!

  4. Dress to impress – even for your train journeys: Now, we all know that first impressions count. The journey itself can be just as important as the destination! I love how stylishly chic the Italian ladies are, even on their commutes, and I make sure to follow their example - because, what better way to spread some pink-tutu magic than on a crowded train platform, eh?

  5. Embrace the Italian pace: Life moves at a slightly more leisurely pace in Milan – take the time to enjoy a leisurely cappuccino, an Aperol Spritz on a sunny terrace, or perhaps just admire the beautiful architecture. It’s all part of the magic of this amazing city! My latest “Italian-paced” ritual is stopping for a bite to eat in the Prada Foundation, the “Fondaco”. It has the most breathtaking terrace – perfect for watching the Milanese going about their day!

So, there you have it, darlings. Just a few Pink Tutu Milan tips for your travels – and let's be honest, it’s just a matter of time before every stylish Milanese will be wearing pink tutus. My aim is to bring the magic of ballet and the beauty of the pink tutu to the entire world, one city at a time!

And speaking of the beautiful, that’s it from me for today. Make sure to keep checking my blog next Monday for all the latest adventures of Pink Tutu Milan.

Ci vediamo! (Until we see each other)

P.S. Don’t forget to spread the pink-tutu love and follow me on Instagram for more Milan-esque twirling. Ciao bella!

Emma
