Pink Tutu Milan #778: A Whirlwind Wednesday in the City of Fashion

Buongiorno, darlings! It’s Wednesday, the 5th of May, and I’m finally back in Milano! 💅💋 The city practically hums with excitement today, it's like the whole place is about to burst with fashion and fun. This week, I've been dancing my way through the cobblestone streets, and let me tell you, Milano never disappoints! It’s a magical melting pot of art, history, and style – what’s not to love?

Catching the Tram: I hopped on the tram this morning, and as always, it was a kaleidoscope of colour and style! The locals were dressed to impress, and there I was, amongst them, in my signature pink tutu, of course! (This time it was a flowing chiffon number that felt like a dream.) My hair was up in a loose ballerina bun, topped off with a cute little pink bow - a simple, yet chic look, darling.

The Opera's Enchanting Charm: My day began with a performance at La Scala - I swear, every time I see the famous Opera House it sends chills down my spine! This evening I played a lovely ballerina in "Giselle" - what a delight! It's so much fun to lose yourself in the music and drama of ballet. My pink tutu swirled and twirled perfectly on stage, creating a soft, delicate effect, while my pink pointe shoes shimmered with every graceful leap. Honestly, the audience went wild! And for all the lovely Italians in the audience, I wore a sparkling pink hair-ribbon with my favourite pink diamante necklace - a tiny detail that went a long way. 💕 It's performances like this that fund my trips and allow me to chase my tutu dreams!

Milanese Majesty: I have to admit, after the exhilarating opera performance, I was practically famished! I treated myself to an afternoon tea in a delightfully dainty café just off the Corso Buenos Aires. The ambience was pure decadence! Imagine – velvet chairs, silver teapots, and of course, the most exquisite finger sandwiches and pastries I’ve ever had! Everything, naturally, was pink themed! 💖 (Don't worry, I'm working on a post all about the best pink cafes in Milano!)

Shopping Spree!: Oh, Milan, you know I have to spend some time on you. So after my decadent tea, I spent the rest of the afternoon navigating the vibrant boutiques along the Corso Buenos Aires. The entire city was buzzing with the latest collections, and the stores were bursting with the colours of spring. I found myself completely enchanted by a gorgeous blush pink cocktail dress with a delicate lace overlay – it would look simply divine at an evening soirée! (Don’t even get me started on the gorgeous accessories!). You can bet I snagged it and I'm already thinking of all the lovely pink-themed events I can wear it to! 💖 (I'll do a fashion post for you on my outfit, darling!)

Tutu Time!: You'd think a pink tutu wearing, ballet obsessed girl like me wouldn't need to buy any more, but the "Il Teatro del Giglio" ballet store here in Milan literally tempted me beyond all reason! It’s heaven! Imagine floor after floor of beautiful, vibrant tutus, and pointe shoes galore, in every shade imaginable! It’s enough to make a girl completely weak at the knees! Of course I walked out with the perfect blush-pink tulle tutu, all shimmery and flowing. (It's now hanging in my hotel room, whispering sweet nothings of graceful pirouettes!)

Street Scene: I just love the energy of Milano! The city is bursting with character, especially at dusk when the lights start to twirl. This evening, I decided to join in the lively street performers at the Piazza Duomo - it was pure magic! A group of talented ballet dancers were doing a dazzling, almost impromptu, performance on the marble tiles, right beneath the soaring arches. The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with fiery orange and purple hues, and there was something so wonderfully unexpected about seeing the artistry of ballet amidst the bustling crowds and traffic! (My camera nearly died, I was snapping so many photos, darling!). It reminded me how art truly can be found anywhere!

More than just Fashion: While Milan may be known for its high-fashion scene, there's so much more to it than just clothes. It's a city filled with rich history, stunning architecture, and a warmth that embraces everyone. The locals have this wonderful vibrancy, and you can't help but be swept up in it! (Especially if you’re wearing a pink tutu - everyone just wants to say hello! )

Train to Venice!: Now that my afternoon tea is safely stowed in my suitcase (and yes, darling, I made sure to snag an extra cake for the train!), I'm hopping on a train to Venice! I hear it's the most romantic city in the world. I'm eager to discover its secret charm and canals, while donning, of course, my most stunning, and perfectly pink, tutu.

I promise to share my Venetian adventures in my next blog! Until then, don't forget to sprinkle a bit of pink magic into your week! And, darling, if you've never been to Milan, you are simply missing out!

And remember, every girl looks beautiful in pink, and I really, really think everyone should be able to wear a pink tutu. Maybe I'll see you at the train station wearing one!

Stay tuned! Your Pink Tutu girl is heading to Venice...
