Pink Tutu Milan #825: Buongiorno Bella! Milan in Bloom!

Oh, darlings! It's Wednesday already, how quickly time flies! I'm back in Milan, after another whirlwind weekend of ballet performances and, of course, the all-important shopping! But before I share all the fashion-tastic finds, let me take you on a little journey through the enchanting streets of Milan!

The sunshine is just peeking through the clouds this morning, casting a gentle glow on the beautiful buildings and blooming wisteria climbing the old stone walls. The air smells faintly of espresso and freshly baked bread - it’s pure magic! I’m sitting here in a quaint little café just off Piazza Duomo, watching the world go by. The vibrant buzz of the city is all around, yet there's a serene calm about it that makes me feel completely at ease. It's these little moments, that I find so beautiful in Italy.

It’s been a while since I was last in Milan – I must have been here for last year's Fashion Week! It's a city that really captures my heart, with its fascinating mix of ancient and modern, chic and casual, opulent and quirky.

Speaking of quirky, let’s talk tutus! You know me, darlings, I can't resist a good pink tutu – they just scream Milan to me! In fact, they're like the city’s unofficial uniform, with a splash of fun thrown in. Just this morning, I spotted a delightful little girl skipping down the street in a bright pink tutu with matching pink ballet shoes – it was such a heart-warming sight. She didn’t seem at all concerned about what others thought. Now, if only more of us could embrace the world with such unbridled joy!

I have to confess, though, sometimes even I, the pink tutu Queen, need a little break from the swirling tutus. So yesterday, I decided to explore a bit of the city’s history. The majestic Duomo is always a must-see, but it's always wonderful to revisit and admire its grandeur again and again. There is a reason it's the fifth most visited tourist attraction in the world. I particularly love to watch the light change through the stained glass windows throughout the day. It creates a magical ambiance inside, like a silent ballet of colours.

Of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a little bit of indulgence, am I right? So last night, I enjoyed the most delightful dinner at Ristorante Trussardi, tucked away in a charming little courtyard. The food was delicious – you can just imagine, pasta cooked to perfection with truffles! And to my absolute delight, there was even a table filled with other pink tutu devotees! Apparently, my Instagram posts have reached far and wide! They were all so lovely, a delightful group of tutu-loving ladies from around the globe! Such a happy, energetic bunch! We all decided we should make a pink tutu walking group! We should organise a street-ballet performance right there on Piazza Duomo!

And to my absolute delight, they even let me borrow their incredible tutus for the occasion! I knew this pink tutu crusade would be a great success, one tutu-tastic friend at a time!

The evening’s main entertainment was, of course, the ballet! I'm currently on a mission to experience as many ballet performances as possible across Europe, which takes me all over the continent. It's not always easy – finding funding, fitting in the shows, juggling the performances with all the pink tutu essentials!

Last night’s performance at Teatro alla Scala was utterly magical! The choreography was incredibly intricate and beautiful, with some of the most graceful moves I've ever seen! The costumes were breathtaking - you can imagine - sequins, feathers, and just enough pink to set my tutu-loving heart aflutter.

I spent hours talking about it with the other tutu girls. We even had a pink tutu photo session, with the glorious Teatro alla Scala as the perfect backdrop! (You can catch these on my Instagram page, #PinkTutuMilan. Don't forget to follow me!)

Milan is just such a magical place – brimming with inspiration and energy. I swear I'm finding myself drawn back here more and more!

On Thursday, I'm heading to one of Milan’s most vibrant areas – Navigli! You see, Milan is not all high fashion and opera; the city also boasts some truly charming and eclectic neighbourhoods. And of course, I have plans for an exciting photoshoot around the canals, so look out for that coming soon! It will include some fab new styles from the vintage clothing shops on the banks of the Naviglio Grande. The shop assistants always greet me with warm smiles - it’s a good thing that I never hesitate to pull out the pink tutu and have a photo with them on a street corner! They just know I’m a good omen for their shop! The Milanese have a really relaxed attitude – even though you might be surrounded by fashion icons on every corner, people just seem to do their own thing, with total confidence. There’s really nothing like the confidence of a stylish, elegant Milanese. They simply radiate it.

Before I leave Milan, I am planning on meeting a couple of fashion designers here. They make all kinds of fantastic items and, you guessed it - have an enormous amount of pink! Now you’ve all seen my recent outfits on social media - some fabulous bright pink tulle and floral creations. They make even more stunning clothes! You can be sure I’ll share some photos!

Right now, I have the wonderful aromas of a freshly brewed espresso and pastries drawing me back to my café seat. I must make the most of every minute I can spend here in beautiful Milan. You never know when life will throw a pink tutu-wearing ballerina into a new adventure! And besides, that's what keeps my adventures so fresh and inspiring, right?

As for what’s in store this week, let's see - there's a fabulous fashion show on Thursday evening, where I am to dance with some other tutu-lovers and I’ll have a chance to get up close and personal with some of Milan’s hottest new fashion designs, and some well-known names too. You will just have to wait and see!

But that's all for now darlings! Until next Monday! Stay inspired, be adventurous, and don't forget to embrace the pink tutu within!

Love,

Emma
