It's Emma, your favourite pink-clad ballerina, back from the vibrant heart of Milan with a heart full of joy and a closet bursting with fabulous finds!
This week, I’m stepping outside my usual studio and into the heart of the Italian fashion scene – Milano! I’m kicking off a whirlwind of fashion, dance, and a touch of “la dolce vita,” and trust me, I'm bringing the pink, as always!
A Train Ride and a Fashion Dream:
Let's rewind the clock a bit… my journey to Milan started with a little adventure aboard the high-speed train from Derbyshire. You see, I’m not only a ballerina, but also a bit of a travel enthusiast. Nothing beats the feeling of speeding past picturesque landscapes, listening to the rhythm of the tracks, and enjoying a good book (currently engrossed in a delightful bio of the great Anna Pavlova).
As I arrived in Milan, the city practically sang its own melodious symphony: the bustling streets, the honking trams, the infectious energy… all part of the urban ballet that unfolded before me. My pink tutu was an instant hit – attracting admiring glances from everyone, from stylish businessmen to giggling children. And you know what? It's always lovely to spread some joy and a little bit of twirling magic!
From Tutu to Trends:
Naturally, I had to find the perfect spot for my first pink tutu photo-op, and my dear reader, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II did not disappoint! This breathtaking, ornate shopping mall with its glorious stained glass ceiling and dazzling shopfronts provided the perfect backdrop for a twirl, a pirouette, and a happy sigh! My favourite part? It's a fusion of history and haute couture, just like my own fashion philosophy – where a splash of pink can bring magic to any style!
Milan is simply brimming with inspiration: from the chicest of fashion boutiques and art galleries to hidden courtyards adorned with vibrant street art and cobblestone walkways whispering tales of ages past. I even caught a glimpse of a charming open-air market, with delicious local delicacies that sparked my inner gourmand. It's impossible not to feel utterly invigorated amidst such creative energy.
Fashion Fever & a Tutu Twirl
And of course, the shopping! From luxurious leather handbags to exquisitely crafted shoes, to intricate fabrics that seem to dance in the light… my inner shopaholic is thrilled to be back in a city that's practically a catwalk. Did you know that Milan is a major fashion capital? This city pulsates with creativity and innovation! A good dose of Milan’s sartorial magic certainly inspires my wardrobe, and you can bet I’ll be incorporating some of the bold, beautiful and surprisingly chic trends into my next pink tutu creation!
While browsing the Milanese fashion scene, my eyes were caught by a lovely ballet studio tucked away in a cobblestone alleyway. I had to take a class! Let's just say, those graceful Italian dancers certainly raised the bar! They took pliés, tendus, and chassé's to a whole new level. I'm feeling inspired to try out some of their unique choreography back home in my Derbyshire studio.
An Evening of Cultural Glamour
The evening saw me exploring Milan’s artistic side – a stunning ballet performance at the prestigious Teatro alla Scala! From the intricate sets and breathtaking costumes to the impeccable grace of the dancers, it was a feast for the eyes. This is where ballet meets its finest theatrical form – a magnificent story unfolded before me with every plié and grand jeté. You simply have to experience it yourself!
It’s been an exhilarating day, a mix of Milan's incredible sights, delightful shopping, and the mesmerizing beauty of ballet. As I end this post, I’m looking forward to embracing all that tomorrow brings - perhaps a spot of delicious Italian cuisine, or maybe some exploring along the Milanese canals?
But one thing’s for sure – you can bet I’ll be bringing the pink wherever I go!
