#PinkTutuMilan - Post Number 908 - Wednesday 31st October 2012

Ciao from Milan!

Oh my goodness, darling readers, it’s been quite a week! As you know, Milan is the fashion capital of the world (after London, naturally!), and I just had to come here to experience it all, to soak up the vibes, to get inspired by the designs, and, of course, to add some fabulous items to my own ever-growing wardrobe!

Trams and Tutues

As always, I'm starting my Milan adventures by getting on the tram. It's my absolute favourite way to explore the city, especially as it gives me the opportunity to people watch and to make note of all the fantastic outfits that whizz past my window!

Today, however, I've decided to make a splash. Why, you ask? Because I’m wearing my new pink tulle tutu – naturally! I'm in Milan, darling! It’s time to really push the boundaries of the #PinkTutu movement! What's life without a little pink sparkle, eh?

It took some serious courage, I'll admit, stepping out in my new tutu in such a fashion-forward city! It’s amazing how people’s heads turn and eyebrows shoot up when they catch a glimpse of you dancing your way down the street, with the glorious sun shimmering on your pink tulle! It’s magic! But everyone has been very polite. One charming Italian gent actually bowed deeply to me as I passed by! How lovely!

Shopping for Dancewear and Other Delights

After my tramway adventure, it was time for my favourite thing in Milan: a spot of shopping! I know, you might be surprised to hear it, but I adore shopping for dancewear. Here, I found some wonderful shops overflowing with gorgeous tutus, beautiful shoes, and the most breathtaking dancewear. I have to admit, my little wallet got a good workout this afternoon – I just couldn't resist the sheer abundance of loveliness!

Speaking of lovely, there is something incredibly special about Italian shops. From the bakeries brimming with fresh, delicious pastries, to the bustling markets bursting with bright, vibrant colours, every shop seems to have its own unique personality. Oh, and don't even get me started on the shoe shops – my dear, oh my dear! I haven’t been so excited about footwear in ages! I practically went into a swoon in one shop where they were showcasing the most stunning silk ballet shoes! Can you imagine? I spent a good half hour simply admiring their elegance!

Ballet Shows and The Beauty of Milano

My trip to Milan has also been about, well, ballet! Of course, it always has to be! Today I'm going to see The Nutcracker. The Bolshoi Ballet is here in Milan for the next three days and the Bolshoi is just incredible – they're like, seriously good!

One of the best things about Milan is the sheer amount of performance spaces, theaters, and concert halls! From classical ballet to contemporary dance, from the breathtaking Teatro alla Scala to the charming smaller venues hidden in cobblestone alleys, Milan is a real melting pot of artistry and creativity! The atmosphere here, when you’re surrounded by these performance venues, it just adds such an air of excitement! I just love being immersed in the excitement, surrounded by other lovers of the dance.

Evening Entertainment and A Little Italian Delight

After the ballet, my darling, we’ll go to this wonderful trattoria just outside the Duomo. You’ll have to trust me on this one, but you simply have to try the food in Italy. The Italians are so good at making the simplest dishes taste incredible – their pasta and pizza are simply divine. And when you're sitting in a warm, candle-lit trattoria with friends, the food just seems to taste even better. Don’t worry, I’ll get us a bottle of Prosecco! It's just such a lovely Italian treat!

Life in Pink Tutu:

The journey is what's important, you know. It’s not just about arriving at your destination; it’s the way you travel. Whether I'm whizzing through Milan on the tram, discovering the city’s hidden gem shops, or just soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of an Italian opera house, I want every single journey to be about fun, fabulous fashion, and a whole lot of pink! And, most of all, I want every adventure to inspire me to be a better dancer, to discover the power of beauty, to find my inner light, and to shine bright.

Stay fabulous, darling, and I can’t wait to see you next Monday for another update from #PinkTutuMilan!

Until then, live life in your own pink tutu!

All the love,

Emma
