Pink Tutu Milan: Post 975 - February 12th, 2014 - Fashion, Ballet and Finding My Inner "Giselle"

Ciao bella!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... It's time for another Pink Tutu Milan adventure! I'm back in the glorious city of Milan, and this week's been a whirlwind of tutus, trams, and bellissimo fashion. My trusty pink suitcase is overflowing with treasures – from vintage Italian brooches to the perfect pair of black ballet shoes (always necessary for a girl on the go, you know!).

This week started with a very special ballet class. Not your usual "barre and plié" affair, mind you! No, this was an absolute dream. We spent the entire session immersed in the world of "Giselle", that romantic and tragically beautiful ballet. Our teacher, a wisp of a woman with eyes that sparkle like moonlight on water, taught us the finer points of Giselle's famous "mad scene". Honestly, I felt like I could have stepped straight onto the stage after the session! It felt like I'd been dancing my heart out for hours. Of course, there's nothing quite like a ballet class to make a girl feel empowered, graceful, and like a true ballerina (and even more importantly, hungry!).

And speaking of being hungry, there's no way I could skip mentioning Milan's amazing food! You haven't lived until you've had a real Italian pizza straight out of the wood-fired oven. The crisp crust, the tangy sauce, and the bubbling cheese... Oh, I'm practically drooling just thinking about it! And don't even get me started on the gelato!

I did manage to fit in a bit of shopping (a girl has to maintain her fashion cred, after all!). The Duomo was abuzz with people enjoying the sunshine, and the streets were a spectacle of bright colours and stunning window displays. There were shops selling the most divine designer shoes, dresses that whispered dreams, and silk scarves that just begged to be worn. It's no wonder they call Milan the fashion capital of the world. And just you wait till you hear about what I found! It's an absolute triumph, a true statement piece...

But what's a fashionista to do with a new wardrobe if she can't show it off? Thankfully, I was lucky enough to grab a couple of tickets to a show at the Teatro alla Scala. This prestigious opera house is a sight to behold. The opulence, the beauty, and the sheer talent of the performers were spellbinding! This time around it was an opera performance and boy oh boy! What an experience! From the rich music to the magnificent costumes, it was all simply breathtaking. As the curtains drew to a close, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement.

This week, the excitement is just starting. It’s not all tutus and glamour. I’m busy making the most of being in such a fantastic city. You’d be surprised by the little things – the trams rumbling along, the cafes filled with laughter, the market vendors shouting out their wares, that all contribute to this beautiful feeling that Milan has. I can see why the artists and fashionistas of the world have come to this city, it truly is inspirational. This city buzzes with creativity, just like my blog and my tutus. It’s hard not to feel like you can achieve anything you want when you’re surrounded by all this talent and ambition!

My friends always tease me about my obsession with pink tutus, but I genuinely believe that everyone deserves to feel like a ballerina. Maybe not quite everyone, but I do try my best to wear them on as many of my travels as possible! After all, they're light, twirly, and instantly add a touch of elegance to any occasion! I know my Pink Tutu Army is with me on this one. We may be spread out all over the globe, but our passion for pink and for dance connects us like an invisible string.

I have a real passion for discovering what this amazing city holds – there's a whole world to discover here, so many new shops, boutiques and galleries to explore. Every week I find a hidden gem of a street and I have a secret feeling that my Pink Tutu will be dancing around Milan's iconic landmarks very soon, too.

So, until next week, keep twirling, keep believing in yourself, and keep rocking those pink tutus! You never know where they'll take you... maybe even to Milan! And for the love of pink tutus and ballet, remember, keep dreaming and never stop believing.

Love, Emma
