Pink Tutu Milan #992: Ballet Bliss and Milanese Magic!
Buongiorno, darlings! It's Wednesday, June 11th, 2014, and Emma is back with another Pink Tutu Milan adventure. You'll never guess what happened today! Giggles. Oh, it was simply divine.
It all began with the most glorious morning sunrise I've seen in ages. I woke up early, a little pink dress flitting in my mind like a ballerina's dream. And what did I do? Put on a pink dress, of course!
I'm here in Milan, and the air buzzes with energy and excitement, just like a perfectly balanced pirouette. Today, I'm exploring a part of the city that I've been wanting to visit for ages. A secret little gem, tucked away behind the cobblestones. Winks.
Speaking of gems, breakfast was a joy. Tiny little shops on the corner were selling the most delectable Italian pastries, filled with fresh fruit and cream. One of those bite-sized experiences that makes life in Milan feel like a fairytale. And yes, you guessed it – I picked a pink one. Can't help myself!
Feeling positively dreamy and full of deliciousness, I embarked on my grand exploration. The tram was buzzing with chatter – a blend of local accents and travellers like myself. I even spotted a group of fashion-forward Milanese ladies in fabulous outfits that would make even the most seasoned Parisian blush. Smiles And did I mention their fabulous shoes? Pure perfection.
But what does one do with a Pink Tutu on a Wednesday afternoon in Milan? Well, darlings, you guessed it! It was a day for ballet!
I took the train, of course, and oh my, the journey was an absolute delight. The countryside was rolling out like a green and golden tapestry. I looked out of the window, gazing at the ancient brick houses nestled amongst fields of wildflowers, thinking about the lives of those who call these charming little villages home. There's just something so captivating about a train ride. A quiet, romantic magic all its own.
I arrived at a grand old opera house, just waiting to be filled with music, laughter and applause. It’s amazing how a building can become a stage for dreams, don't you think? I couldn't wait to see what theatrical magic awaited.
I floated in – feeling my pink tutu catching the light with every turn. I love feeling like a tiny ballerina on stage when I step out in it. I bought my ticket, a little scroll of a paper that whispered promises of magic, and found myself on a velvet seat facing a stage draped in deep maroon and golden velvet. The light, a shimmering spotlight. The hush of anticipation was thrilling.
It was a delightful performance – all about classical grace and strength, flowing movement, and a story woven through dance. Each graceful gesture, each leaping jump – they captured my imagination and made me feel like I was flying.
You know, sometimes I dream of having my own company, maybe right here in Milan, filled with passionate dancers in their most fabulous tutus – a dance of colour and passion that captures the spirit of this city. That is my dream - maybe one day!
After the performance, it was a wander through the vibrant city. The smells of food, the bustling crowds, the warmth of the sun. I bought myself a little memento of the day – a delicate silver ballerina charm – a reminder of the magical night.
I even stumbled upon the most divine cafe nestled between two cobblestone alleys – filled with sunlight, delicious coffee, and beautiful, ornate decor. It was there, amidst the sounds of chattering Milanese ladies and the smell of freshly brewed espresso, that I truly realised: this day had been perfect. Milan, with all its bustling life and stunning beauty, has really captured my heart.
My Pink Tutu has never been to Italy before. This is her first Milanese adventure! This is just the start. We are already planning to return, exploring new streets, meeting new friends, and embracing the Italian way of life – from the coffee culture to the grand performances. I'll be sure to bring back photos!
But right now, I’m taking it easy with my cappuccino, and writing down all the thoughts that have danced through my mind today. This feeling is truly magic, you know. It’s this feeling, this connection to the magic of movement, of music, of expression – it’s what keeps me going back to Milan, to ballet, to life in a pink tutu. And I hope that this Pink Tutu Milan blog brings some of that joy to you, too.
Until next week, darlings.
Ciao!

P.S. Did I tell you, my darlings, about my trip to the La Scala Opera House today? No, no, no... Not the Opera, I visited La Scala Theatre Museum. It was an absolute feast for the eyes and the mind! And I can't wait to share my pictures and stories with you in my next blog post. You don't want to miss this! Stay tuned.
