Pink Tutu Milan - #1089: A Whirlwind Wednesday in Milano

Ciao bella!

It’s Emma here, reporting live from the fashion capital of the world, Milano! As you know, I’m absolutely smitten with this beautiful city, and this week, I’ve been on a whirlwind adventure, exploring the city’s enchanting cultural offerings and, of course, indulging in my passion for all things pink and twirly.

Today’s adventure started early with a delightful train ride from Bergamo, where I was staying in a charming little boutique hotel with a pink and gold colour scheme (what can I say, I can’t resist!) to Milan Centrale Station. Now, if there’s one thing I love more than a twirling tutu, it’s the gentle rhythm of a train journey. The clickety-clack of the tracks and the panoramic views just put me in such a dreamy mood, and it’s the perfect time to people-watch and sketch ideas for future blog posts.

Arriving in Milano, the air was thick with anticipation for a ballet extravaganza. You know I wouldn't miss the Teatro alla Scala for the world! Today’s show was the famous Sleeping Beauty, a timeless ballet that always sends shivers down my spine. It was the perfect way to immerse myself in the city's cultural scene, with stunning costumes, beautiful music, and the most magical performance by the talented ballerinas and danseur. I just love seeing such passion and talent, and I left the theatre completely mesmerized, feeling as if I had truly stepped into a fairytale world.

Of course, no trip to Milano is complete without a spot of shopping, and that's precisely what I did after the ballet. Via Montenapoleone was my chosen hunting ground. It’s such a chic street, overflowing with designer boutiques and a touch of vintage glamour, a true haven for a fashionista like me. I was particularly captivated by the shop windows at Gucci, a riot of colour and design, and just around the corner, I stumbled upon the cutest little vintage clothing store brimming with treasures from a bygone era. The store had everything from retro handbags to gorgeous hats, and I just had to buy a few trinkets to add some sparkle to my wardrobe!

As the sun started to set, casting a warm glow across the city, I made my way to the charming Navigli, a canal district that’s renowned for its artistic flair. Wandering along the charming cobbled streets, I felt a strong pull towards a little boutique that specialised in bespoke pink tutus – fate, surely?! The lady who owned the shop was a real character, so enthusiastic and full of life. I bought the most fabulous pink tulle tutu with beautiful embellishments, which is destined to become a real statement piece in my wardrobe! It’s amazing how the perfect tutu can make you feel instantly happy, ready to dance in the street!

I finished the day by grabbing a slice of authentic Milanese pizza at a local restaurant by the canal, gazing out at the twinkling lights reflected on the water. I just love how Italian culture embraces simple pleasures like delicious food and beautiful surroundings.

Tomorrow, I’m excited to visit the Museo del Novecento with its fabulous contemporary art collection, and then maybe I'll pop by La Scala for one of their free "Behind the Scenes" tours. Who knows what treasures I might discover!

But, for now, it's time to bid farewell to you, dear reader! Keep checking back on www.pink-tutu.com next Monday for more adventures from sunny Milano.

And don’t forget to rock that pink tutu, whatever you’re doing!

P.S. If you’re ever in Derbyshire, England, please do come visit me at my little ballet school, “The Pink Tutu Studio.” We have open classes for anyone who wants to learn the art of ballet, young or old! We have pink tutus in every size, so why not give it a try?

Lots of love and twirls,

Emma xxx
