It's your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, back with another slice of Italian life. This week, the sun is shining and the city is buzzing. I feel so incredibly lucky to be here, embracing the warmth, the vibrant energy, and, of course, the fashion! ✨
I've been waltzing through the streets in my signature pink tutu, naturally. It seems Milan loves a bit of pink too! 🎀 The bougainvillea is in full bloom, and every corner feels like a scene straight from a whimsical ballet. Even the trams have a hint of pastel, adding to the fairytale atmosphere.
A Ballerina's Milan
Last night, I was at the Teatro alla Scala. The iconic theatre, with its elegant neoclassical architecture, was practically dripping with history and elegance. My heart was aflutter as I slipped into my seat, anticipating the performance. The music was divine, the dancers graceful, and the atmosphere utterly enchanting. I'm not one to keep it a secret: the sheer joy of being there, enveloped by the world of ballet, felt absolutely magical.
After the performance, I strolled through the cobbled streets, feeling the cool night air against my skin. The energy was intoxicating.
Fashion Finds and Ballet Bliss
Today, it's all about fashion and the excitement of the ballet studios. I love scouring the hidden treasures of Milan's independent boutiques. The vintage dresses, the silk scarves, the leather jackets… they whisper stories of a sophisticated and glamorous past.
The city is alive with vibrant colours, beautiful textures, and timeless elegance. I'm positively inspired, picking up pieces that are unique and full of character – all the while planning the perfect outfits to pair with my tutu, of course! 😉
And let's not forget my ballet fix. This afternoon, I'm diving into a class at a charming studio in the heart of the city. I can already hear the music swirling through the room, and I can feel my feet itching to twirl! The discipline, the grace, the passion - there's nothing like a good ballet session to get me energised and feeling my best! 💖
From the Derbyshire Dales to Milan's Streets
My journey to Milan began with a passion for dance. The stage has been my home since childhood, growing up in the heart of Derbyshire. From my first steps in the village hall to the grand stages of London, I've danced with an unwavering dedication. It's my joy, my outlet, my expression. And now, it's my passport to the world.
You might be surprised to know I've funded my travel through my love of dance! From fundraising performances to teaching workshops, I've made the impossible possible. It's all about the joy of ballet, the love of sharing, and, most importantly, the unwavering belief in chasing your dreams.

A little about Milan on April 27th, 2016:
On this particular date, Milan was brimming with springtime energy. The weather was pleasantly warm and sunny, encouraging the locals to soak up the outdoors. As a bustling metropolis, there was always something going on: exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events were attracting crowds.
There were two ballet shows to watch.
The first was at the Teatro alla Scala, which was renowned for its classical and operatic productions, always with a focus on beautiful and traditional ballet techniques.
The second show was a smaller-scale production at a more experimental, avant-garde studio space that focused on contemporary dance forms, a stark contrast to the traditions of Teatro alla Scala, creating an opportunity for dancers to explore more unconventional movement and storytelling.
This blend of tradition and innovation is what truly captures the essence of Milan’s dynamic energy. As a passionate ballet fan, this provided a range of opportunities for immersion into the art form.
