Pink Tutu Milan - Post #1126 - Wednesday 2017-01-04: A Fairy Tale in the City of Fashion

Buongiorno, my darling ballet-loving friends!

Emma here, fresh from the beautiful city of Milan and bursting to tell you all about it! This is my very first time in the Italian fashion capital and let me tell you, it's already stolen a big piece of my heart. I arrived late yesterday, feeling like a princess on my grand entrance by train. And I just knew, right away, that Milan was going to be magic.

You know I love my travel days, all those adventures finding my perfect platform to my favourite shops. That’s exactly how it was when I got to the hotel; my luggage settled, I knew that a trip out to discover Milan had to be first on the agenda!

Finding My Tutu Magic

Let’s be honest, the city just vibrated with fashion, and oh, how I love finding new style inspirations! I’d dreamt about exploring its historic centre and my beautiful pink tutu was already waiting, ready to sparkle as I headed out!

After all, what better way to soak in the Italian energy than to walk its cobbled streets and find hidden treasures? And of course, let's be real, a pink tutu and a shopping spree in Milan is the ultimate combination for a truly unforgettable day!

As the sun dipped towards dusk, I discovered the most divine little boutique tucked away on Via Montenapoleone. Now, I know you’re already imagining what I found inside...a beautiful vintage tulle skirt in the most gorgeous shade of blush pink, just waiting to become my new tutu! Oh, you can just imagine the twinkle in my eyes as I spotted it... a piece of vintage ballet perfection! It was love at first sight, like something out of a fairy tale!

Milan's style definitely wasn't just in the shops, I tell you! Just a little further down, my senses were completely overloaded with colour and creativity at the Piazza della Scala. A true ballet lover’s dream, it's right beside the iconic Teatro alla Scala opera house - a beautiful theatre which makes even the most simple outfit look utterly stunning!

A Feast For The Eyes

As evening approached, the Piazza was aglow, a magical scene buzzing with life! My pink tutu shimmered and swirled as I made my way over to the Teatro. The energy was truly electric, the air itself felt like a dance. Just standing there outside the theatre felt incredibly special.

My wanderings led me to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. I lost myself amongst the boutiques and cafes, stopping every few steps to take a snap. Its beautiful stained glass roof makes the entire arcade look almost like a cathedral, and just thinking about the elegance and beauty of it all made my head spin!

Feeling like a complete and utter ballet princess (I know I say it every week, but it just feels so good to be wearing pink!) I enjoyed a gelato with a delicious taste of lemon and berries. I always choose my treats with ballet steps in mind – light, delicate flavours, and as fresh as possible. Of course, it had to be the colour of pink as well, you see. The only thing better would have been enjoying a glass of pink Prosecco!

The day ended back in my hotel with me already planning what would be a magical start to tomorrow. I simply couldn’t resist an early visit to La Scala museum. The thought of walking through history, of tracing the footsteps of ballet legends… how could I say no to such a dream!

A Day For The Books

Well, it's time to share my day’s ballet treasures with you, my dear readers! The Teatro alla Scala was the reason for this trip and to make sure I get to enjoy it at its best, I’m indulging in a little pre-ballet treat by seeing a show tonight! The energy inside the museum made me feel excited and privileged, not just to be in the same space as great ballets but also to know that a magical performance will fill that space this very night!

The Scala Museum truly lived up to all of my expectations, filled with elegant costumes, paintings of past greats, and breathtaking backdrops from performances. Every single object told a story, making me feel completely immersed in the world of Italian theatre and dance.

I am a lucky girl to experience these special moments, every trip I take is another opportunity for me to spread that pink tutu magic to new corners of the world! I had a truly magical experience, wandering through a labyrinth of memories and artistic brilliance.

The Scala Theatre itself, from its breathtaking architecture to the beautiful details inside, was pure enchantment. To just be there, in the heart of such historical dance and artistic beauty was almost enough, yet, I know, the best is yet to come - the ballet itself is what will stay with me long after I leave.

As I entered the opulent auditorium, I was surrounded by vibrant red and gold and my imagination already danced! It felt like stepping into a ballet dream, ready to be captivated by the brilliance on stage.

You can just imagine my joy when I discovered my very own "Pink Tutu Box" waiting for me inside!

This, my dears, was a gift designed to bring a bit of ballet magic into the everyday, and, you can imagine how excited I was to open it! Inside, I discovered the most charming assortment of treasures: a miniature ballet slipper, a velvet bag, and a little, heart-shaped pink mirror with delicate pearls framing it. I also discovered a beautiful little ballet bookmark and, my favourite, a mini tulle skirt, which felt so lovely in my hands, just a little pocket-sized vision of magic!

But this, my darlings, is just the start. Every single piece is a small reminder of that wonderful night, reminding me of how special every ballet performance truly is. Just like my ballet days, each new adventure has an incredible story to tell - I can't wait to see where my journey takes me next!

Toodles, my dearest darlings - I can’t wait to see you next week!

Remember: My website www.pink-tutu.com has a brand-new "Ask Emma" forum – feel free to pop on and let me know what's going on in your ballet world.

Now, go put on a pink tutu - life's too short for grey clothes and a little sparkle never hurt anyone!
