This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, trams, and tutti frutti gelato! 🍨 Milan always feels like a dream; vibrant and full of life, the kind of city where anything is possible. Even wearing a pink tutu. 🤫
For those of you who don't know me (where have you been? 😄), I'm Emma, a passionate ballerina from the heart of Derbyshire. My life revolves around ballet and tutus, with a dash of wanderlust. My mission? To inspire you to embrace your inner ballerina, one pink tutu at a time! 🩰

A Day at the Teatro alla Scala:
This week, I ticked another major item off my bucket list: attending a performance at the renowned Teatro alla Scala, a ballet masterpiece in itself. This iconic venue is steeped in history, with intricate details and stunning architecture. Even getting to the theatre felt like a magical journey, taking the tram through cobblestone streets adorned with Renaissance buildings.
The show itself was a breathtaking rendition of "Giselle", with incredible artistry and talent on display. It transported me to another world, filling me with wonder and inspiration. Afterwards, the air was filled with applause and excitement – it was truly a night to remember! 💖
Discovering the Italian Flair in Fashion
After the performance, I treated myself to a stroll along the legendary Via Montenapoleone. Milan's shopping streets are simply breathtaking, a haven for the fashion enthusiast! Every corner revealed something exquisite: dazzling couture boutiques, trendy vintage shops, and a vibrant array of street style that made my heart flutter. I picked up a stunning vintage hat – it’s just screaming for a photoshoot in a bustling market!
Of course, no trip to Milan is complete without a gelato adventure. This week's pick: pistachio. So delicious!
Sharing the Love for Ballet:
It wouldn’t be a trip to Italy without sharing my passion for ballet with others! While in Milan, I found a beautiful little dance studio in the heart of the city. Taking a class amidst the elegant Milanese ballerinas was an absolute joy, and even though I only spoke basic Italian, they were so welcoming. The energy was incredible – these ladies truly had the dance floor ablaze!🔥
I found it incredibly inspiring to connect with dancers from a different culture and see how the art of ballet transcends borders.
Catching Up with Friends & Spreading the Tutu Love
Meeting up with fellow ballet enthusiasts in Milan was an absolute blast! Sharing stories and comparing dance shoes is a real joy, a common language we all understand. Of course, we couldn't miss the opportunity for a photo op in my iconic pink tutu – the locals loved it!
One thing I adore about the ballet community, is that it is so incredibly welcoming. Everywhere I go, I encounter the sweetest dancers, who are so keen to share their love for the art form with others.

Even while I’m soaking up the sunshine in Italy, I am keeping my Derbyshire roots close to my heart. There’s no place like home, and I’m already counting down the days until I return to my charming little village.
