Pink Tutu Milan: #1192 - Wednesday, 2018-04-11: A Pink-tastic Day of Italian Ballet Dreams!
Ciao, darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballet blogger, reporting live from the heart of Milan, Italy. I just have to share my adventures with you all because, as you know, there's no adventure quite like a pink tutu-infused one.
I woke up this morning feeling like a ballerina princess, all thanks to a blissful night of dreaming about tutus, leaps, and all things beautiful ballet. It was one of those dreams where everything is impossibly elegant, and your leaps feel effortless and graceful. It felt good.
Now, here’s a quick recap for you. I've been absolutely living my best life in Milan since last Monday. The sunshine's been gorgeous, the city is buzzing, and it's full of all the inspiring things I adore: fashion, art, culture…and yes, you guessed it, ballet!
But let me tell you about yesterday, the ultimate pink-tutu day!
Milan on Wednesday, My Style: The Italian VibeI had to dress for the day like it was Milan fashion week - it wouldn't do to have any days here less than fantastic in my pink tutu world. So I stepped out in a darling blush-pink silk dress with a whimsical tulle overlay (imagine a soft blush-pink tutu just above my knees!), and I wore my signature ballet flats that are a glorious shade of candy pink. My usual tiny pink handbag, perfectly matching, was overflowing with my essential accessories: ballet notebook, phone, and yes, a compact mirror to keep checking on those ballet buns. My look felt effortlessly elegant and charming, and I received so many compliments throughout the day! A girl just loves a good compliment!
My Big, Beautiful Ballet Dream Come True!Yesterday, I was on a quest for something truly special. My mission: to see a legendary performance of La Traviata at the glorious Teatro alla Scala, one of the world's most famous opera houses. It was like walking into a dream come true! Everything about the theatre was grand - the golden decorations, the plush red velvet seats, the air thick with history and anticipation.
The performance was everything I could have wished for. The passion, the raw emotion, the intricate choreography. My heart simply swelled with awe.
Honestly, it was the most perfect performance, leaving me utterly enchanted! As the final notes faded, a sense of serenity washed over me, leaving me feeling utterly fulfilled and inspired.
I've got to tell you, you don't just get the art of ballet from seeing it at the world's leading performance halls, but you get an energy about the place - I’m almost surprised they didn't offer the opportunity to do an actual lesson backstage afterwards… cough cough. (Okay, I probably wouldn't be surprised).
I mean, to experience an opera house like Teatro alla Scala was simply breathtaking. I stood for a while, mesmerized, trying to absorb it all before heading out for the journey home. I am absolutely going to go to the opera at some point during my trip to Milan.
An Evening of Milan’s Tram RomanceBut the day didn’t end there, my darling ballet lovers! A big day needs a fabulous, stylish finish, right? So, after a very, very delicious pasta and creamy tiramisu dinner, I found myself making my way to a performance at Teatro dal Verme. You guys already know that this week is just brimming with culture, and this is where it happened. A wonderful ballet company from Vienna were giving a stunning performance! It felt very lucky, but they were brilliant.
It’s not easy finding those last minute tickets and to my delight, there were tickets! It meant catching the famous Milan trams - those amazing tram systems with old-fashioned elegance! Just imagine a pink tutu-wearing girl, clutching a pink handbag with sparkling diamante studs on the journey - absolute perfection, I tell you. The trams were very comfortable (I managed to fit into the seats easily, I am lucky to be petite and that I love my big tulle tutus so much) and I managed to see a different perspective of the beautiful city, especially lit up as the night fell. Just enchanting, and with my tiny pink handbag, it's the ideal way to get around in Milan!
Of course, the performance at Teatro dal Verme was another unforgettable treat! It was an experience that warmed my heart and ignited my creative spirit, all whilst twirling and swaying in my tiny pink ballet slippers. I wish you could all have been there, so I hope my words can at least bring a little bit of the magic into your world.
A Perfect Day in a Pink TutuLet's be honest, there’s nothing better than a day of dancing, theatre, fashion, and delicious Italian cuisine.
It's not always possible to be here, but I love that even from Derbyshire, England, you can get an exclusive taste of the pink tutu life, especially with my blog posts! I love how I can use my love for dance and travel and combine them with the magic of Milan!
If there is one thing you should take away from my Pink Tutu Milan adventure, it's to always follow your passions. Just like a ballerina reaching for that perfect pirouette, go after what makes you happy.
Oh, and don't forget to always keep a pink tutu close! Because, honestly, a bit of pink and sparkle can make anything a little bit brighter. Now go and rock that tutu!
Much love and happy dancing,
Emma x
(And stay tuned, darlings! I've got even more fabulous Milan adventures to share with you next Monday! It’s always pink tutu time, especially in Milan. )
