Pink Tutu Milan: #1194 - Wednesday 2018-04-25

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Milan post! This week I'm bringing you all the latest news from the fashion capital of the world. I'm feeling particularly sparkly today, after a wonderful performance last night. And speaking of sparkly... cue the dramatic lighting and spotlight. My newest tutu arrived yesterday! This time it's a shimmering cerulean blue, just perfect for the cobbled streets and pastel buildings of Milan.

The weather here is simply delightful – sunny, with a touch of springtime breeze that flutters my tutu just so.

This week in Milan, I've been swept away by the vibrancy of the city, from the bustling fashion shows at Teatro alla Scala to the quiet corners of the Piazza del Duomo. Everywhere you look there's a new pattern, a new colour, a new fashion sensation.

But first, a bit about me:

For those of you new to Pink Tutu, I'm Emma, a ballerina from Derbyshire, England. My life is a beautiful ballet – pirouette through cobbled streets, jeté over stunning architecture, and a grand finale of laughter and adventure! And of course, the star of the show is always my pink tutu. It's not just a piece of clothing – it's a symbol of joy, a reminder that life should be danced, not just walked through.

As a ballet dancer, my travels are funded through my performances. Each show, each pirouette, brings me closer to my next destination. Last week I performed in a charming town square in Florence. The sound of the music, the awe of the audience, and the applause at the end – it's the best feeling in the world.

A Fashionable Ballet Week:

This week's adventures began with a whirlwind tour of the Milan Fashion Week shows. As a ballerina, fashion is always on my mind. I'm fascinated by the intricate details, the flow of fabric, and the way it can transform the wearer into something extraordinary. It's not just about the clothes; it's about the artistry, the stories behind each design, the inspiration that flows from the designer's heart.

From bold silhouettes at the Versace show to the ethereal grace of the Valentino collection, Milan has presented a dazzling array of talent. I'm particularly drawn to the romanticism of floral prints, the elegance of lace, and the undeniable power of a tailored suit. This season, I'm adding a touch of vintage charm to my wardrobe – think flowing chiffon blouses paired with high-waisted trousers and an unexpected dash of sparkle.

On My Itinerary This Week

  • The Teatro alla Scala: This iconic opera house is a must-visit for anyone in Milan. This week, the Teatro is hosting a ballet extravaganza - “Romeo and Juliet”, choreographed by the renowned Jean-Christophe Maillot. The costumes are spectacular, the music breathtaking, and the story timeless. I'll be taking my front-row seat on Friday, so keep your eyes peeled for my Instagram posts, my dear friends!

  • The Brera District: Charming, artistic and effortlessly elegant. It's the perfect spot for exploring antique shops, soaking in the atmosphere of the Pinacoteca di Brera (Italy's finest art museum), and stumbling upon hidden trattorias that serve the most authentic Italian dishes. I'll be enjoying a leisurely stroll through this district, relishing the Parisian-like ambience.

  • The Duomo: It’s not a trip to Milan without marveling at this architectural masterpiece. It's a spectacle of towering spires and intricately carved stone, reaching for the sky like a celestial ballerina. This week, I'll be revisiting this beloved landmark for an afternoon of quiet contemplation and Instagram-worthy pictures (tutu optional, of course!).

A Pinch of Pink Tutu Inspiration:

Now, here’s the magic of Pink Tutu Milan: You don't need to be a professional ballerina to live a life of dance! You can wear a pink tutu to the supermarket, to a picnic in the park, to a dinner with friends, and even to a job interview (okay, maybe not the last one!).

Here are my tips for incorporating the Pink Tutu magic into your life:

  • Think outside the box: Forget those "rules" you think you know. A pink tutu can be elegant, it can be quirky, it can be a little bit naughty, it can be absolutely anything you want it to be.
  • Don't be afraid to be noticed: A pink tutu will make you stand out, but that's a good thing. You'll turn heads, make people smile, and spread a little bit of joy wherever you go.
  • * Embrace the power of pink:* Pink is the color of love, of hope, of creativity, and of course, of Pink Tutu! So don't shy away from wearing it.
  • Channel your inner ballerina: Hold your head high, stand tall, and walk with confidence. You’ve got this.
  • And finally, dance!: This is the most important rule of all. Life is for living, for experiencing, for sharing with the world, and that includes a little bit of dancing!

My Dream: A Tutu-Filled World

Imagine a world where everyone wears a pink tutu! Can you picture it? A sea of twirling, laughing, smiling, joy-filled faces, all adorned with the beautiful symbolism of the pink tutu. This is my ultimate dream - a world where everyone embraces the power of dance and lets their inner ballerina shine. It's not just about fashion; it's about joy, about freedom, about embracing your true self, about believing that anything is possible.

Milan Musings:

Milan is more than just a city of fashion. It's a symphony of history, art, and culture. This week, I'm particularly inspired by the work of the Renaissance masters at the Pinacoteca di Brera, the elegant architecture of the Duomo, and the sheer vibrancy of the city's streets.

And let's not forget the food! Every bite is a delightful explosion of flavor, from the fresh pasta to the rich gelato to the mouthwatering cappuccinos. My favorite thing about Italy is the joy people find in the simplest of things: a shared meal with loved ones, a glass of wine under the Tuscan sun, a quiet moment watching the world go by.

Milan is a city that inspires me, that energizes me, that reminds me of the beauty and magic of the world. And every step I take here, whether it’s a graceful waltz down Via Montenapoleone or a quick hop on the tram, is a chance to spread the message of the Pink Tutu.

So join me, darlings, and let's twirl our way into a brighter future! Don't forget to share your adventures with me using the hashtag #PinkTutuMilan. I can't wait to hear all about them!

Until next Wednesday, stay stylish, stay curious, and keep dancing!

Ciao Bella!

Emma
