Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, back with another instalment from the glamorous city of Milan! This week has been a whirlwind of tutus, theatre, and, of course, a touch of that signature Milanese chic. 💖
My last post left you with the promise of a trip to the magical world of Milanese ballet. Well, let me tell you, darlings, the experience lived up to every expectation and more!
But first, let's rewind the clock a little, shall we? It's all about the journey, after all. I embarked on my Milan adventure with the thrill of a hundred pink tutus fluttering in my heart. I travelled by train, which, let's be honest, is practically an excuse to wear your most flamboyant outfit, wouldn't you say?
Naturally, my trusty pink tutu was front and centre, a symbol of my ballet-infused soul and a reminder of why I'm here. After all, how else could I convince the good people of Milan to embrace the pink tutu life? My bright pink beret was my sidekick, perched perfectly atop my blonde curls, adding just the right amount of playful mischief to the ensemble. The train was filled with a lovely, slightly chaotic energy, everyone rushing about, their lives playing out in a delightful tapestry of Milanese rhythm.
And you know what else? I scored the most beautiful pair of silver sparkly shoes in the most charming little boutique right next to the station. Let me tell you, these shoes are a ballet dancer's dream. They literally twinkle with every step! I know, I know, you're thinking, how on earth can I resist showing you a picture? Fear not, my dear followers! A photo session in this sparkly pair is most definitely on the cards. Stay tuned!
But back to our ballet adventure, shall we? On the evening of Wednesday, the 6th of November, I found myself swept away in the ethereal atmosphere of La Scala. Oh, La Scala, with your majestic facade, your grand entrance, your breathtaking acoustics, you're truly the epitome of opera and ballet perfection! It was pure magic. The energy in the air was electric, tinged with anticipation. We settled into our plush velvet seats and then it happened - the music began to soar, filling the theatre with emotion and drama.
The ballet performance was Romeo and Juliet. It was truly beautiful, with the most stunning choreography and graceful movements. I swear, my eyes welled up at times. It was one of those evenings that touched your very soul. The performance was a reminder of why ballet holds such a special place in my heart. It's a dance of grace, of beauty, of love, and of life.
After the performance, I indulged in a delicious dinner at the little trattoria right opposite La Scala. They served the most amazing pasta, accompanied by a crisp glass of Prosecco. Of course, a touch of pink was still very much in the air. My bright pink floral print scarf became my evening's accessory, perfectly capturing the essence of both Milanese style and the Pink Tutu aesthetic.
The following morning, I awoke feeling invigorated and full of ideas for new tutu creations. I had a long, exciting day of ballet class and then an afternoon of exploring the fashionable Milanese streets, on the lookout for that perfect vintage scarf or quirky hat to add to my collection.
There's something about Milan, darling. It's a city that makes you feel like you can conquer the world! Maybe it's the stunning architecture, the captivating fashion, or maybe it's simply the intoxicating rhythm of Italian life. But whatever it is, I feel it bubbling in my veins - a thrilling mix of inspiration and ambition. And I know, darling, that in a city as enchanting as Milan, I'm destined to discover something wonderful, something completely new, something truly, utterly, beautifully Pink Tutu.
You know I love finding hidden treasures, those hidden gems that add that perfect touch of flair to your outfit. This week's discovery is a gorgeous vintage boutique hidden in the bustling Via Montenapoleone. Let me tell you, the minute I stepped through the door, it was like a kaleidoscope of colourful patterns and styles from the past. I found myself a magnificent silk scarf with a floral design in hues of lavender, rose, and pistachio, perfect for my upcoming performance at the Piazza del Duomo!
Milan has a charm that just draws you in. There are all these lovely boutiques, full of stylish clothes, delicate shoes and glamorous accessories. I think it's in my blood - that need to dress up, to make a statement. To find something that says, "Here I am, look at me, look at the bright pink tutu!" It’s like I can almost hear it echoing down the streets, from the rooftops, even the little cafés... it’s a movement, darlings! It’s a symphony of pink and glitter and a dash of good-natured rebellion, all in one magnificent twirl!
The food scene here is also beyond delightful! You'll be surprised to know, I'm even finding ways to incorporate a touch of pink into my meals, thanks to the abundance of juicy strawberries, vibrant pink grapefruit, and, my personal favourite, a truly beautiful, rosy, pink gelato that I stumbled upon in a tiny little gelato shop in the heart of Milan! It was, dare I say, like dancing on my tongue, all creamy and flavourful and... well... let's just say I can't resist a touch of pink anywhere and everywhere, even my dessert!
And the locals? Oh, the people of Milan are simply delightful! I’ve had countless chats with charming people in cafés, all about ballet and my dreams of a world where everyone rocks a pink tutu! I love sharing my stories and making people smile with my pink tulle and cheeky banter. They say there's a language of fashion, and it's truly heartwarming to discover how easily it can be understood and celebrated even when words aren't exchanged.
After a morning filled with ballet and coffee at the local bar, my afternoon will be spent wandering through the enchanting streets, savouring the flavours of the local trattorias and of course, finding the perfect pink flower crown for my ballet class later today! You see, darling, there are some things in life that simply must be done in a pink tutu, and ballet is definitely one of them!
Oh, I just remembered something incredible, darling! This Friday, I'm taking my dancing talents to the grand Teatro degli Arcimboldi for an incredible production of The Nutcracker. I'm so excited about it, I've been planning my outfit since my last post - a black velvet dress with a pink velvet ribbon, and a whole symphony of tulle to match!
I have a feeling that this performance is going to be something truly special. It’s always a magical experience, watching a classic ballet story unfold, especially in a city as majestic and full of history as Milan.
So until next time, darlings, stay pink and glamorous!
With love,
Emma 💕
