Pink Tutu Milan: Post #1275 - Wednesday 13th November 2019

Buongiorno from Milan, darlings! It's Emma here, back with another Pink Tutu Milan blog post, ready to whisk you away to the glamorous city of fashion, culture and – you guessed it! – ballet!

A Bit of Backstory, Darling

This week, I'm bubbling with excitement as I’m finally living out a long-held dream - exploring Milan! You see, ever since I first started taking ballet as a wee girl in Derbyshire, I've been captivated by stories of La Scala, Italy's most iconic opera house. To be able to walk through the grand doors and feel the history swirling around me is like a fairytale!

And it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Milan adventure without a twirl, or ten, in a stunning pink tutu! Of course, the perfect tutu is the ultimate accessory for a day of exploration, isn't it? My pink tulle skirt, the one that catches the sunlight like a shimmering cloud, has been accompanying me on every tram ride, cafe stop, and museum visit this week, spreading a touch of girly glamour everywhere I go.

Fashion, Food and Fun

I've been absolutely giddy about Milan's incredible fashion scene! Wandering through the sleek, designer boutiques feels like stepping onto a runway. There's such a chic vibe in the air – all elegant lines and pops of colour. Who doesn't love a bit of retail therapy, am I right? And my oh my, the shoes! I can't resist picking up a new pair to add to my ever-growing collection - after all, a fabulous ballet dancer can never have too many shoes!

Of course, I wouldn't be a true travel enthusiast without indulging in some delicious Italian food. The aroma of freshly baked bread, rich coffee, and hearty pasta dishes makes my heart sing. I particularly fell for the Milanese style risotto, which is both comforting and delicious!

The Magic of La Scala

But it was the breathtaking experience of attending a performance at La Scala that truly took my breath away. Walking through the imposing façade, knowing that generations of dancers and musicians have graced that stage, sent shivers down my spine. And stepping inside… wow! The ornate details, the velvety seats, and the sense of anticipation were electrifying.

The performance itself was pure magic! The choreography was incredibly intricate, the costumes a feast for the eyes, and the talent on stage absolutely spellbinding. My eyes were glued to every pirouette, every grand jeté, and every arabesque. I felt a deep connection with the dancers, sharing in their joy, their passion, and their breathtaking skill. It was a night that will stay etched in my memory forever.

Discovering Milan's Gems

Besides La Scala, I've been enjoying some lovely exploring around the city. I absolutely love strolling along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, soaking up the buzz of life in this iconic Milanese thoroughfare. The magnificent Duomo is a true spectacle of architectural prowess – every intricate detail is a testament to its builders' skill. And wandering through the beautifully curated museums and art galleries, immersing myself in the artistry and history that Milan boasts, has been such a fulfilling experience.

The Magic of Ballet Everywhere

You know, even when I'm not watching professional performances, there's magic in ballet all around me in Milan! Every street performer who throws their body into a daring grand jeté, every ballerina at the dance studio – I find beauty and inspiration in every step, every movement. There's something incredibly freeing about seeing the human form in motion.

That's why I believe every woman deserves to experience the joy of a pink tutu. It's not about the fancy dress or the specific style. It's about embracing your inner ballerina, allowing your confidence to bloom, and celebrating the beauty of movement, grace, and femininity.

A Heartfelt Thanks

As I wind down this week's Milan adventures, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who makes it possible for me to follow my Pink Tutu dream. To my loyal readers, your enthusiasm and kind words keep me motivated. To the supporters who make my performances possible, I am so incredibly grateful for your encouragement. To my friends and family who never cease to cheer me on, your love means the world to me.

And, of course, a massive thank you to the city of Milan itself, for its dazzling culture, captivating spirit, and endless opportunities for twirls and giggles.

Until next time, remember to always let your inner ballerina shine. Stay fabulous and keep twirling!

Emma xx
