Pink Tutu Milan #1295: La Dolce Vita and a Splash of Pink

Ciao bella!

It's Wednesday, April 1st, 2020, and your favourite pink-clad ballerina is back in Milan, where the sun is shining, the Duomo sparkles, and the city's buzz is as vibrant as a sequined tutu. Today's post, from the heart of the Italian fashion capital, is bursting with pink, pizazz, and of course, the magical world of ballet.

This week, Milan is hosting the Milano Fashion Week Women's Collection! Talk about a perfect reason to wear pink, right? From the latest runway trends to the city's most stylish street style, every corner whispers with creativity and colour.

And guess who is in the thick of it all? Your girl in pink, ready to absorb all the Milanese fashion magic. As I flitted through the bustling streets, my pink tulle whispered against the pavement, creating a symphony of movement. It seemed to turn heads and spark conversations, and let me tell you, even Milanese chicsters, with their understated elegance, were charmed by the flash of pink.

Pink Tutu Milan, a perfect combination

To celebrate being in such a fashionable city, I made a little trip to one of Milan's iconic department stores, where I snagged the most exquisite pair of pink ballet shoes I've ever seen. They shimmered like rose quartz in the sunlight, a delicate touch of sparkle.

Milan, with its timeless elegance and exquisite fashion sense, is definitely my kind of place. I love the way the city seamlessly blends traditional beauty with modern trends. This is where fashion meets artistry and creates something truly special.

A Pink Tutu Ballerina's Dream: Teatro alla Scala

No trip to Milan is complete without a visit to the magnificent Teatro alla Scala, one of the world's most renowned opera houses. And of course, I was determined to see a ballet. The very thought of a performance within those magnificent walls filled me with excitement.

Stepping inside, I felt a sense of awe. The gilded balconies, plush velvet seating, and the history that clung to the walls – everything about the Scala screams "extravagant". It's a dream setting for a ballet performance!

Tonight, I'm fortunate enough to catch “Giselle” - a timeless classic that weaves a tale of love, betrayal, and the supernatural. The emotion, the dancing, the costumes - I'm ready for a magical evening!

Taking to the Milanese Streets

This morning, I wandered through the vibrant Navigli district, exploring cobblestone alleys and finding quirky cafes. A glass of pink grapefruit juice and a delicate slice of tiramisu in the morning sun - what a way to start the day!

But let’s be real, exploring a city on foot isn't always a fairytale. Especially when my pink tutu got caught on a rogue scooter in the Navigli! Thankfully, the Milanese scooter guy gave me a mischievous smile and a helping hand. That’s the kind of helpful, charming spirit that you find everywhere in this city.

Exploring the City on the Move

Public transportation in Milan is as elegant as the city itself. Their trams are sleek and modern and my pink tutu stood out on a Monday morning commute.

Today's highlight - a breathtaking train journey along the Lake Como line! Picture turquoise waters glistening in the sun, rolling hills in the distance, and a little ballerina, in a pink tutu, soaking up the view. I've added a little extra pink to this blog - enjoy some photos.

Derbyshire to Milan: A Tutu-tastic Journey

Even though I'm thousands of miles away from my home in Derbyshire, I’ve been missing my favourite pink teacups. So, I found myself at a charming little tea shop called Pasticceria Marchesi today, where I indulged in a delightful afternoon tea, complete with pastel pink cakes.

The way they put their pink on show! My afternoon was pink perfect.

Being away from Derbyshire definitely puts a new appreciation on my Derbyshire home. However, Milan, you’ve stolen a little piece of my heart with your charm. It’s a whirlwind of culture, elegance and delicious food, with a touch of pink for good measure.

This week has been a journey filled with fashion, culture, and that lovely feeling that only comes from wearing a pink tutu. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it's that Milan, like a well-executed pirouette, knows how to leave you wanting more.

Ciao for now, I'll be back next Monday with more tales of Milan, fashion, and all things pink! Don't forget, you can find my posts every Monday on www.pink-tutu.com – and let me know what you’re loving about this post in the comments!

Emma’s Milan Pink Tutu Photos

Here are the photos from Emma’s blog post. Emma loves photos. They are all set in Milan in the context of the blog post.

1. Pink Tutu Milano: Milan's Chicest Street Corner

Emma in her pink tutu standing on a cobblestone street in Milan with shops either side and the backdrop a historic, stone built church. She looks relaxed but confident with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Emma's arms are spread wide like a ballerina ready for a grand jeté. She has one hand on the wall next to a traditional, decorative, Italian lamp. The other hand is in mid air and slightly tilted upwards.

2. Pink Tutu and Ballet Shoes, Milanese Sparkle:

Emma holds a shoe box up to the camera with a proud smile. Inside, in tissue paper is a delicate pair of sparkly pink ballet shoes, reminiscent of rose quartz. They’re in perfect condition and gleaming under the studio lighting. The camera is a few feet back looking into the open shoe box so that Emma, holding the shoe box, is in the foreground of the photo.

3. The Milan Duomo with a Pink Tutu: The City Lights Shine Brighter:

The majestic Duomo cathedral dominates the centre of the photograph with the night skyline of Milan glowing beneath the spire. The Duomo is lit up like a Christmas tree. A blurred Emma in a pink tutu, facing the camera, is reflected in one of the giant windows of the building.

*4. Navigli Romance and Pink Tutu in a Cafe: *

The cafe setting in the photo looks authentic with terracotta coloured walls and brick paving. The picture captures the charm of the Navigli, and shows a cute, quirky corner cafe. It's in a sunny spot with a long wall and large window in the background with tables and chairs. Emma is sat at a round table outside the cafe. She is leaning on the table towards the camera. Her hair has pink flowers and her tutu and top are pastel pink. A glass of pink grapefruit juice is in front of her. Emma has her eyes closed and looks like she is smiling with contentment. She looks relaxed and comfortable.

5. Pink Tutu on the Tram to a Fashionista Destiny:

The focus of the picture is a tram stopping at a busy tram station, lit up at night. The front of the tram is illuminated against the darkness. The blur of the lights on the side of the tram creates the feeling of the journey being on the move. It’s like the light is pulling the tram on through the darkness. Emma in a pink tutu and with a wide, cheeky grin is almost hidden at the window of the tram, looking out towards the viewer with her pink tutu almost overflowing the frame. She has her pink sparkly bag by her side. Her smile is wide. She has her finger on the window with her arm outstretched. She's looking forward to something.

6. Lake Como, Pink Tutu and a Dreamlike Panorama: A Photo To Remember

This picture captures a picturesque panorama with mountains meeting the lake in a misty haze, which fades from the dark greens and blues to a luminous gold in the distance. It is shot at the height of the day. In the foreground, perched on the rocks next to the lake’s edge, sits Emma in a pink tutu. Emma's face is lit with a gentle light. Her arms are out in front of her with a soft pink sweater and she's looking towards the mountain scenery and not directly into the camera. She looks pensive as though in thought and almost dream like.

7. A Taste of Milan: Pink Pastel Delightfulness and Pink Tea Cups:

A traditional Italian-looking patisserie is in the background, filled with beautiful pastries and pink and cream cakes on display. The focus is on a selection of three pink pastel-colored tea cups arranged on a rustic wooden table in front of a window, which lets in a beautiful warm light, which illuminates the teacups and surrounding items. They look expensive and delicate. One of them has an opulent, feminine floral pattern. Another one is simply solid, bright pink, with an embossed pattern. They have just a hint of the cream showing inside the rims of the cup. A cup on the right is missing a saucer but is in mid air. A little out of focus is Emma in a pink tutu with one hand reaching toward the camera as if she wants to pick up a teacup, or maybe grab one of the yummy-looking cakes from the background. This image radiates sophistication and a passion for detail.
