Pink Tutu Milan: Post 1349 - Ciao Bella Milano!

Wednesday 2021-04-14

Buongiorno from Milan! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I'm finally here in the fashion capital of the world! This is my third visit to this beautiful city, but each time I feel like a little girl exploring a wonderland of designer stores, cobbled streets, and charming cafes.

You see, my life is about finding the beauty in everyday moments. Whether it's a beautiful sunrise, the soft sigh of the wind rustling through the leaves, or spotting a flock of pink flamingos in the local zoo, my inner child squeals with delight at every little miracle. And for me, nothing sparks that same childlike joy as the vibrant, graceful world of ballet.

It's why, of course, that I've spent this past week pirouetteing around Derbyshire, performing for my local theatre's spring season. You wouldn't believe the sheer amount of tutus I've packed - a whole wardrobe dedicated to the art form that captures my heart! Speaking of tutus, let me just say, I've been rocking my latest acquisition - a glorious pale pink tutu with hand-sewn sparkling embellishments that twirls and shimmers like magic!

It was an absolute blast performing in Derbyshire, but you know, there's no place quite like Milan when it comes to immersing yourself in fashion, art, and that oh-so-fabulous Italian spirit. And for me, there's no better way to experience this city than in a bright pink tutu, which I have carefully packed in my carry-on for a touch of extra pizzazz!

My day began, as it often does, with a delectable Italian breakfast at a cafe right around the corner from my adorable little hotel. You just can't beat freshly baked croissants and creamy latte. A perfect start to any day!

Now, for my first foray into Milan's heart, I decided to take the tram to the city center. I must say, it was an absolute delight to sit and watch the bustling city pass by. The charm of a bustling Italian city on the morning tram, with its vibrant colours and people, never ceases to amaze me!

The Dance Studio That stole My Heart:

You might be surprised to hear that my first stop after a delightful cafe latte and a long tram ride, was the ballet studio. Yes, I am, dare I say it, that girl - a tutu-loving ballerina who just can't stay away from the dance floor, even when I'm travelling!

The dance studio, housed in an old converted church, had such an interesting story behind it. Imagine - it used to be a place of worship, now converted into a sanctuary of grace, with wooden floors echoing the soft patter of dancing shoes. Talk about divine inspiration! I couldn't wait to slip on my pink ballet shoes and join in the fun!

Finding That Perfect Outfit

You can't come to Milan and not spend at least a little time exploring its legendary fashion scene. After all, what's a tutu-wearing ballerina without a few fashionable finds? This afternoon, I spent hours lost in the world of high fashion - gliding from boutique to boutique in search of the perfect dress to wear for my evening out.

After all, the dress must match the occasion, and tonight, my heart yearns to see La Scala Opera's renowned production of "La Traviata." Oh, it is truly a dream to experience this majestic opera house, steeped in history and beauty, especially while wearing my pink tutu. Talk about a fashion statement! It is a sight I cannot wait to see tonight.

I am simply in love with the vibrant colours, intricate patterns and textures that grace Milan's high-end stores. A splash of turquoise for a touch of the unexpected? A cascade of lace for that elegant touch? My pink tutu certainly approves, I can tell you!

But it wasn't just about luxury shopping. You know I love exploring hidden corners, little boutiques tucked away in backstreets, and this is where I struck gold! The cutest little vintage clothing shop on Via delle Mosche (yes, you read that right!) with a whole rack dedicated to ballerina-inspired dresses - my heart practically leapt out of my chest. They even had this exquisite vintage ballet costume in pale pink and gold - talk about an Insta-worthy find! I know I'll be adding that to my collection ASAP!

The Art of Pasta, and a Surprise Guest:

And of course, no trip to Milan would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights. For a little late afternoon treat, I treated myself to a delicious plate of pasta in the charming area of Brera, with its cobbled streets and beautiful architecture. The sauce, a rich blend of tomatoes, basil and creamy cheese, just melted in my mouth - the perfect combination of Italian flavour and warmth.

But the true surprise was yet to come! As I was finishing my meal, who should stroll in, but a fellow tutu-lover! Dressed in a stunning navy blue tutu, she was positively radiating energy and enthusiasm! Imagine our delight as we chatted for hours about our love for ballet, our travel experiences, and how important it is to express oneself through fashion.

Who would have thought I would meet another pink tutu enthusiast in a small restaurant tucked away in Milan? We truly do have a wonderful community of like-minded individuals spread across the globe.

Under The Spell Of La Scala

My evening culminated in the breathtaking grandeur of La Scala, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. I slipped on my trusty pink tutu and headed off, a sense of excited anticipation coursing through my veins. The entire place radiated with elegance and tradition, and it was a privilege to witness the remarkable artistry that graced the stage.

The performance was captivating, a story woven in beautiful melodies and captivating acting. My heart soared with each soaring aria, my mind lost in the passion and emotion on display. The energy in the theatre was electric, each individual, like myself, swept away in the world of opera.

And just before the performance, I spotted my new friend from the restaurant, proudly showcasing her blue tutu in the grand foyer of La Scala! The universe seems to work in mysterious ways, wouldn't you agree?

This evening has proven once again that the magic of ballet transcends borders and connects us through a shared love of art and performance. The music, the movement, the stories - they touch our souls and inspire us in ways that words can't express.

Sharing My Love With the World:

Milan has lived up to all its promises! It has been a day filled with enchantment - a celebration of art, fashion, and the magic of ballet. It has also solidified my passion for spreading the love for tutus around the world. The more I travel, the more I realise how unifying the power of pink tutus can be! It's about embracing individuality, celebrating our unique personalities, and showing the world that our hearts beat with joy, grace, and, yes, even a touch of playful pink!

And now, after a long but fabulous day in Milan, I'm off to bed. My dream will undoubtedly be filled with dancing fairies, pirouetteing through Italian cobbled streets, and maybe even a little opera sing-along! Until next week, ciao bella Milan!
