Pink Tutu Milan: #1410 - A Whirlwind of Romance, Rococo, and Red Shoes

Ciao, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from the fashion capital of the world – Milan! It's Wednesday, the 15th of June, and the sun is shining bright, just like the pink tutu twirling its way through my mind. This week, my adventure has taken me on a charming journey through the vibrant streets of Milan, discovering a symphony of art, romance, and of course, glorious tutus.

Pink is My Passion

This week's #PinkTutuMilan adventure has me utterly enchanted. The streets here are filled with colours and styles that would make any tutu twirl with delight. From the majestic Duomo to the quaint cafes tucked away in cobblestone alleyways, the whole city breathes an air of refined elegance. You'll find me weaving my way through the crowds, sporting a delicate pink tulle number, a statement accessory, you see, for this fashion-forward city. Every day feels like a ballet performance, with the Italian air humming with life.

Train Travels and Tutu Troubles

After my usual ballet classes in Derbyshire, a touch of pink dust settled on my trusty suitcase as I packed my pointe shoes, favourite blush-toned dress, and, of course, the pinkest tutu imaginable. My journey started on a glorious, sun-kissed morning, boarding a train at Derby station. As the countryside zipped by, I settled in with a book, imagining the enchanting city awaiting me. There's something magical about travelling by train, especially when you’re dressed to the nines. A few hours later, I arrived in Milano Centrale, ready to dance into this city's magical heart.

Milano Centrale – My First Stop

Milano Centrale – what a magnificent place! It's truly an architectural masterpiece, with high vaulted ceilings adorned with intricate paintings, echoing with a symphony of footsteps and chatter. I was a little jet-lagged, but even in a state of post-travel delirium, I was utterly charmed. My first order of business? Finding the tram! I navigated the throngs of commuters, each sporting their own version of Milanese style, before hopping on the Tram 5, eager to explore the city's cultural treasures.

Romeo & Juliet in All Its Glory

I’ve always had a penchant for Shakespeare, so naturally, a trip to Teatro degli Arcimboldi, to see the Verona Philharmonic Orchestra's performance of "Romeo and Juliet", was top on my list. It was a sensory feast, the hauntingly beautiful music soaring over the dramatic story of the star-crossed lovers, the beautiful costumes, the exquisite set design - I could feel the heartbreak and passion pulsating through the theatre, right into my pink tutu. My inner ballerina was on the brink of leaping out!

Tutu Shopping Spree!

A ballet performance is simply not complete without a delightful post-show shopping spree! My first stop? The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – a monumental shopping arcade showcasing the finest fashion, from classic Italian tailoring to contemporary avant-garde designs. You can see why they call Milan the fashion capital! As I wandered past boutique after boutique, my eye was caught by the dazzling displays. This city knows how to embrace extravagance and elegance, just like my pink tutus.

Lunchtime with a Touch of Pink

My stomach was grumbling, so it was time to satisfy my insatiable craving for authentic Italian food. The aroma of freshly baked pizza and the melodic clatter of cutlery set the scene at Trattoria Piemontese – a delightful haven in the heart of Milan. The lunch menu was an Italian love letter, featuring simple, exquisite flavours. But you know what they say, “A little pink goes a long way.” My heart did a little pirouette when I saw their rose-coloured tagliatelle, just as rosy and graceful as my pink tutu!

Rococo Delights at the Pinacoteca di Brera

No trip to Milan is complete without visiting the Pinacoteca di Brera, a renowned art gallery boasting masterpieces from the Italian Renaissance. The delicate brushstrokes and ornate designs of the Rococo paintings, reminiscent of swirling tutus, took my breath away. The Pinacoteca's collection captured my artistic soul – it's the kind of place where inspiration blooms and dances, and you can truly feel the passion woven into every brushstroke. My pink tutu couldn't have been happier.

Tram Talk and Street Style

Riding the trams in Milan is a true fashion show! Every rider becomes a runway model, displaying unique styles, vibrant colours, and sleek designs. I was enthralled by the intricate lace dresses, perfectly tailored coats, and dazzling scarves – the epitome of Milanese elegance. And let's not forget those shoes – red shoes, blue shoes, yellow shoes... you name it, they were there, twirling their way through the bustling city. I felt my own ballet shoes yearn for the spotlight!

The Pink Tutu Project - Milan Chapter

Throughout my adventures in Milan, I've noticed something fascinating – the city embraces colour with open arms! It's evident in the street art, fashion, architecture, and even the gelato (always pink gelato!). As I walked through the cobbled streets, my heart felt a delightful thump as I spied a few individuals sporting bold pops of pink – pink trousers, pink coats, and pink handbags, giving a shout out to my favourite colour! Every sighting fueled my passion for my mission to make the world embrace the delightful charm of the pink tutu! Maybe next week, I'll start handing out pink tulle tutus!

Ending on a High Note

It's time to wrap up this magical #PinkTutuMilan adventure. But before I sign off, a heartfelt thank you to this magnificent city. Thank you for the romantic sunsets over the Duomo, for the symphony of street sounds that accompany every stroll, and for inspiring a vibrant dance within my own soul. I'll be returning to Derbyshire soon, my suitcase overflowing with beautiful memories, a couple of fabulous shoes, and a pink tutu ready to twirl into a new adventure.

Until next week, darlings, let your heart dance to its own beat and never forget to spread a touch of pink into the world!

Lots of love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
