Pink Tutu Milan - #1427: A Day Filled With Tulle & Tiramisu

Ciao from Milano, darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing ballet blogger, back with another fabulous adventure from the fashion capital of the world! I just have to tell you all about my whirlwind Wednesday, where ballet, shopping, and a whole lot of Italian charm intertwined in a glorious fashion-filled frenzy.

Remember my goal? To spread the joy of pink tutus far and wide! And, as ever, Milan is proving to be the perfect playground for my little dream. Today was all about the little things that bring a ballerina joy, from the perfectly plumped cushion on the tram ride to the sheer, silky perfection of a brand new tutu, I truly felt like I was living a real-life ballet dream!

My day began with the gentle, rhythmic sway of the train. I love the feeling of being on a train, all my worries left behind as I head towards a new, exciting adventure. Today's destination was Milan's stunning Teatro alla Scala - it simply feels wrong to refer to it by its "official" name - that iconic name evokes such feelings of elegance, tradition, and artistic excellence. I simply adore it.

As I stepped out of the station and onto the crisp, cobblestone streets, I could already feel the magic of Milan in the air. The sunlight glinting off the ancient buildings, the scent of freshly baked bread drifting from nearby patisseries, and the sounds of a bustling city, all creating a symphony of energy that truly set my heart dancing.

I must say, I love exploring the city by tram. There's something so delightful about navigating its network of colourful trams, soaking up the vibrant tapestry of Milan's daily life, especially with the soft hum of the electric trolley and the gentle rattling of the tracks as a rhythmic accompaniment to my thoughts. It truly adds to the experience, I always feel like I'm getting a taste of the authentic Italian vibe that makes this city so special.

Of course, I couldn't venture into Milan without adding a dash of pink to the city's palette. A perfectly coordinated outfit was in order, complete with a glorious new tulle creation - the most vibrant shade of rose pink imaginable. It simply demanded to be admired, and my dear readers, you wouldn't believe the compliments I received! A little girl even asked me if I was a "real ballerina". How could I resist? I gave her a big smile, twirled, and said, "Of course! Do you want to twirl with me?". Her little eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. Such magic, don't you think?

The highlight of the day? The show at Teatro alla Scala, of course! Today's performance was an exquisite ballet piece - I couldn't tell you the name (it was a little complex for me), but it involved beautiful storytelling through elegant movement and a masterful orchestra creating the perfect soundtrack to the dancers' expressive grace. Oh, I could watch these artists dance for hours. There's something about seeing those talented bodies move with such poise and control that truly moves the soul. It's a pure, untarnished expression of the human spirit.

It’s so lovely to watch ballet at Teatro alla Scala. You get the sense you are part of something very special, a theatre steeped in history and artistic excellence. The very air is thick with the energy of generations of artistic vision, And don't even get me started on the auditorium itself – breathtaking! Every intricate detail of the design, from the intricate carvings on the ceiling to the velvety crimson seating, creates a feeling of pure artistic grandeur. The setting was simply sublime.

The show, as ever, was breathtaking. The costumes, the music, the performers – all a stunning tapestry woven with talent, emotion and captivating artistic beauty. The sheer power of the dancers’ athleticism is so awe-inspiring. They just glide through the air, defying gravity and turning each move into an art form. And it’s the most uplifting and beautiful story telling you could wish for.

The feeling I felt watching them all - a tangible sense of artistry that vibrated within me - that feeling was pure magic. The magic of human artistry that's created, perfected, and delivered in such a captivating manner! I just couldn’t help myself - I grabbed my own tutu and pirouetted at the top of the stairs on the way out, I had to join the energy somehow!

My stomach had a different rhythm though. I’d made plans for the after show. No trip to Milan is complete without a decadent meal. This is no mere eating experience, you know, it's a theatrical feast for the senses. And on the menu for this enchanting evening - Tiramisu.

This Italian delight deserves a whole blog post dedicated to it - but for now, I'll just say that a steaming plate of the divine combination of coffee, chocolate, and ladyfingers is nothing short of heavenly. There are two great little cafes across from Teatro alla Scala and one of them is famed for its tiramisu. Of course, I felt obligated to visit - I felt like the whole experience called for it. It was a truly divine, almost mystical experience. I ate my tiramisu surrounded by the echoes of the evening's performance. My senses were in overdrive - everything from the delicious smells wafting in the air to the taste buds awakening with every decadent bite of the tiramisu!

But you see, dear readers, the magic of this little pink-tutu-wearing blogger's trip to Milan lies not just in the ballet or the tiramisu. It's also in the little details. It's the warmth of the Italian people, their passion, their zest for life that makes each trip truly special. It's finding a beautiful little antique mirror that fits perfectly in my "pink palace", it’s discovering a new hidden street cafe - the kind where the owners still greet you by name, like I'm family.

After my perfect afternoon and evening, I found myself back on a train, leaving Milan's shimmering skyline behind me. But the memory of the city, of the dance, of the delicious food, of the joyful little girl and all the beauty I found in this vibrant city, will stay with me long after I leave.

Milan is like a dream. A dream I can't wait to dream again soon.

And remember darlings, always embrace the power of pink! Don't be afraid to twirl a little, to live a life full of magic and beautiful details! You never know what hidden treasures await, just waiting to be discovered.

Catch me next week, my loves, as I'll be telling you all about the grand plans for my ballet recital – stay tuned, darlings, and keep twirling!

Love, Emma xoxo
