Pink Tutu Milan: Wednesday 2023-02-08 – Post #1444! 🩰💖🇮🇹
Buongiorno, darling readers! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and this week, I'm shimmying my way through the beautiful streets of Milan. This bustling metropolis is an absolute feast for the senses – think incredible architecture, exquisite food, and enough designer stores to make a girl dizzy. And as if all of that weren’t enough, there's a vibrant dance scene here that is truly taking my breath away!
I landed in Milan on Monday, and I knew I needed to get myself into the pink tutu spirit immediately. So, off I trotted to La Rinascente - the department store equivalent of a palace, with everything from haute couture to yummy treats. It was in one of these chic little cafes that I met Lucia, a stunning Italian lady who knew her way around Milan’s artistic circles. She promised to introduce me to the city’s best-kept secrets – including the hidden gem ballet studios she raves about.
And Speaking Of Hidden Gems… 💎
Lucia led me on a whirlwind tour on Tuesday – first to the Museo del Novecento. Talk about a feast for the eyes! Imagine incredible works of modern art nestled within this beautifully restored palace - with a sprinkle of Italian flair that had me twirling in delight! I snapped some pictures, and even a little ballet inspired pose (can’t help it!), to commemorate the day. It was truly inspirational!
Later that afternoon, we explored the charming neighbourhood of Brera. The cobbled streets were bustling with locals and artists, the aroma of freshly brewed espresso filling the air. We lingered at a cozy cafe in Piazza del Mercato, enjoying delicious panini and watching the world go by. Lucia’s knowledge of the local hidden gems was impressive – apparently, she has a friend who sells handcrafted shoes just off this very piazza! It’s so wonderful meeting fellow fashion lovers who know where the magic happens in the city.
My Italian Ballet Adventures – Getting Into the Groove!
Wednesday morning began with a glorious ballet class in a studio tucked away on a cobblestone street in the heart of the city. My muscles had definitely been missing their daily dose of graceful torture – but as I stretched, pliéd, and leapt through the choreography, I felt my body remembering its artistry. The studio was small and intimate, filled with passionate dancers of all ages. I could tell these were locals, not tourists! It was such a refreshing change to have an authentic experience and not feel overwhelmed by language barriers.
After class, Lucia took me for lunch at La Vigna, a hidden gem nestled in a quaint courtyard – an absolute delight! We savored juicy slices of pizza with a tangy red sauce that danced on my tongue, followed by a delicious creamy tiramisu for dessert. It was so quintessentially Milan, I couldn't help but swoon.
Evening at The Theatre - A Romantic Night With Romeo and Juliet!
The evening brought an absolute treat – a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Teatro alla Scala! To say it was breathtaking would be an understatement! The grand architecture, the sheer energy of the dancers, and the emotion pouring from each graceful movement made the show an unforgettable experience. It was a powerful reminder of why I'm so passionate about ballet – the way it allows stories to come alive on stage, to be felt, and to inspire everyone who witnesses it. I'm definitely coming back to Milan just for a performance here – the Teatro alla Scala is on my bucket list!
As the curtains closed, I realised that my journey in Milan was only just beginning. There's so much more to explore: museums, parks, bustling markets – oh, and let's not forget the plethora of shopping! I’m dreaming of exploring Corso Buenos Aires with its fashion paradise and unique boutiques – where will my pink tutu take me next? Maybe it’ll inspire the next designer to create a ballet collection! A girl can dream, can't she?
