Pink Tutu Blog: New York City Adventures, Week 3 🩰

Hey darlings! It's Monday again, and I'm back in New York City with a week of absolute brilliance to share! My trip has been a whirl of tutus, shopping sprees, and a whole lot of dancing - both on and off the stage. It's hard to believe it's already been three weeks in the Big Apple, but I feel like I've experienced a lifetime in pink. 😄

New York, New York!

This week has been all about embracing the vibrancy and magic of New York. From the moment I hopped off the subway (yes, the metro here is actually called the subway! I know, it's very confusing) in my pinkest tutu, I knew I was in for a treat. The streets were alive with colour, excitement, and an energy that simply can't be replicated anywhere else.

Fashion Forward

As you all know, fashion is my passion, and New York has been a dream come true. The shops! The boutiques! The incredible variety of styles and trends! I've indulged in some serious shopping therapy, finding everything from the perfect vintage silk scarf to a dazzling pink dress fit for a ballerina queen. (Did I mention how much I love pink? Because I do. It's practically a religion). I even stumbled upon a hidden gem of a vintage shop that had an incredible collection of ballet shoes - you could say I was in my element! I have a whole new wardrobe ready for the summer.

A Ballet Love Affair

My love for ballet is well documented (for those of you new here, welcome! Head to www.pink-tutu.com and catch up!), but it’s safe to say that New York is taking it to another level! I caught two amazing shows this week: "Swan Lake" at the Metropolitan Opera House. Talk about a performance that blew me away. The artistry, the emotion, the incredible skill – every move was sheer perfection. But then, you guys, there was this small, intimate theater performance I caught called “Tutus on the Avenue,” a local production where the audience were practically sitting on the stage with the dancers. The intimacy and raw energy of it were truly captivating, and I even recognised a few faces from my ballet classes at the City Ballet School, they were just fantastic. I have to say that this was a highlight for me, not to mention seeing so many ballerinas strutting their stuff in beautiful tutus on the street too!

A Foodie Delight

New York is a feast for the senses, especially when it comes to food! The restaurants, the cafes, the bakeries - they're all teeming with culinary delights, and I've sampled my fair share of goodies. The bagels! The hotdogs! The pizza! Every bite has been an explosion of flavour, but nothing can compete with the famous New York cheesecake. Oh, the heavenly creaminess and tangy goodness – I've been known to eat my fair share, and then some. 😉

Finding My Inspiration

Beyond the shows, the shopping, and the food, this city has a spirit of inspiration. It's a melting pot of cultures and creativity, where dreams come to life and artists from all walks of life find their voice. I find myself feeling completely empowered to chase my own creative pursuits, and that feeling alone makes this journey more than just a vacation – it’s an experience that feeds my soul and inspires my creative drive.

Remember this: Pink is power! And if you want to experience the magic of New York, get out there and dance! Even if you’re a beginner, put on a pink tutu and go for it! 🩰

And now, let’s talk about this date. June 26th. What's the one thing I couldn't do without? Why, the Ballet in the Park event, of course! Now, here’s a little secret; most people think it's a Monday tradition, but it's actually on the last Monday of the month! June’s edition was all about Ballet’s in our communities, with various dancers from across New York. I was so lucky to meet up with one of my old teachers from my time back in Derbyshire - she is now running the program. It's all part of what they call a 'street-ballet program'. There were dancers all ages, even children who were dressed in their adorable little tutus. And the best bit? There was FREE cheesecake (always my favourite, you know me!). It was simply a brilliant night of community, dance, and a whole lot of joy – what’s not to love?

Now, before I go, a little shoutout to all my pink-tutu loving readers: what have you been up to this week? Do you have any exciting events or adventures to share? I'd love to hear all about it!
