Pink Tutu Blog: New York City - #65 - Monday 2nd September 1996

Hello darlings! Welcome back to another Monday post on www.pink-tutu.com - your one-stop shop for all things pink, fluffy and twirling! It's a glorious September morning here in New York City, and I'm already dreaming of the shows and adventures this week has in store.

This past week has been a whirlwind of tulle and sequins! Last week I danced in Derbyshire, England for a children's ballet recital which I was incredibly proud to be a part of - these youngsters were truly a joy! The smiles on their little faces were enough to brighten even the dullest day! As a seasoned professional, I'm thrilled to be sharing my passion for dance and helping young ones discover the magic of movement. And of course, my pink tutu went down a treat with the little ones.

I also snuck in a little shopping before heading back to New York, adding some exquisite, sparkly pink heels and a dazzling diamante clutch to my already brimming wardrobe! You see, every outfit deserves a dash of that fabulous Pink Tutu sparkle.

Speaking of sparkling, New York City is truly the ultimate destination for those who love to shimmer and shine. The energy is infectious, the sights are awe-inspiring, and the fashion? Oh, the fashion! From the chic sophistication of Fifth Avenue to the vibrant street style of Soho, there's a different world of fashion on every corner.

My trip here was funded, as ever, by my performing talents! Last week I danced at the Metropolitan Opera House – you may be aware, this venue was built as the very first dedicated opera house in the United States, just think of how many ballet greats have graced its stage before me! What a privilege, it certainly made for a fantastic week, with lots of photo opportunities - keep your eyes peeled on my social media for updates, you lovelies!

It was quite a week, with a mix of grand opera and a little local jazz club on a whim. New York offers the unexpected – which is something I love about the city! I just adore strolling down the streets, getting lost in the vibrant hustle and bustle. And yes, I’m always sporting my trusty pink tutu, because, well, life's just a little bit more fabulous in pink, wouldn't you agree?

My schedule for this week is looking as fabulous as a newly pressed tulle skirt. After spending Monday indulging in the gloriousness that is New York's finest breakfast pastries (I love the little shops in Greenwich Village) and soaking up the city vibes from the rooftop terrace at the trendy hotel in the heart of the city - where else?! – I am excited to attend "A Streetcar Named Desire" on Tuesday evening at the legendary Broadway Theatre. This play, by the brilliant Tennessee Williams, is truly captivating and I have such high hopes for the show. You can catch my review of the play on Wednesday on this blog! Then, it’s back to Broadway on Wednesday evening with a performance of "Cats" which always puts a smile on my face, such brilliant dancers in this show! There's a real artistry to their movements and expressions, it's always a pleasure to be mesmerised. For Thursday, I’m booked into the Metropolitan Museum of Art – they’re holding a special exhibition, which I'm beyond excited to see! It looks absolutely divine. It will give my soul a chance to wander before a little retail therapy around Madison Avenue. Oh! And I plan to spend some time sketching and journaling, taking in the world's artistic energy and hopefully picking up a few tricks of the trade from the greats. Friday morning is an early start! The ballet class is on. Nothing beats the sheer joy of a well-stretched tutu – it's the best! – followed by a light and healthy lunch at an adorable café in the West Village - can’t forget the freshly squeezed lemonade. I can’t wait! I must share the secret with you all... The key to maintaining a perfectly beautiful tutu shape – always take it off with the help of a clothes horse - makes all the difference, you'll thank me later. Then, a night of fabulous dancing – I am excited to see what awaits at the iconic Studio 54 – where will it take me? You will all be able to follow my dance diary on my social media – make sure you’re following me so you don’t miss a single step, my lovely lot!

I am so passionate about making my dreams a reality, and to all those budding dancers and fashion enthusiasts out there, you have to live every single moment with your own individual flair and enthusiasm – embrace your dreams with a dash of pink sparkle! My aim, you see, is to get everyone in the world dancing in a pink tutu! Think of the vibrant energy we would all exude!

Stay fabulous and until next Monday, remember to embrace your inner ballerina, twirl your worries away, and don’t forget your pink tutu! I'm off to do a bit more window shopping before I begin my ballet practice – I'll keep you updated on Instagram and Tiktok! See you soon!
