Good morning, lovelies! It’s Monday, and that means it’s time for another post on the Pink Tutu Blog NYC, straight from the heart of New York City!
A Little Bit of Derbyshire in the Big Apple
Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “Emma, what on earth are you doing in New York City?” Well, you see, ever since I first fell in love with ballet as a little girl in Derbyshire, I knew I had to see the city that never sleeps – and, let’s face it, I love a good excuse to twirl around in my pink tutu!
But how do I afford these fabulous trips? You guessed it – my beloved ballet! I’ve been fortunate enough to work my way around the globe, funding my travels by performing in a variety of shows, from elegant ballets to thrilling street performances. There’s just something so special about sharing the magic of dance with an audience, and watching their faces light up as the music fills the air.
Monday Magic in Manhattan
This week, my journey started at 7 am sharp, catching the metro from my favourite pink-hued hotel room (of course!). I have a bit of a thing for vintage New York apartments and, as I’m writing this, I’m enjoying the stunning view from the rooftop overlooking the Chrysler Building – breathtaking!
Before embarking on my adventures, I decided to start the day with a cheeky cup of chai latte at a cute café called The Pink Teacup. It's my kind of place – a symphony of pink and floral prints, adorned with glittering chandeliers and whimsical paintings. Oh, and the chai latte was divine!
Now, I know you love a bit of fashion inspiration, so I'm bursting to tell you all about the gorgeous outfit I've chosen for today's city exploration.
A Fashionable Flutter Through Manhattan
My trusty pink tutu was the star of the show, of course! It's a vintage creation, and its soft, delicate tulle feels as magical as ever. I paired it with a vibrant pink floral blouse, a delicate gold necklace that dances when I move, and a pair of pristine white ballet pumps. And, let's not forget the indispensable blush-coloured feather boa - perfect for adding a touch of dramatic flair!
This outfit was all about celebrating the graceful spirit of New York, you know, bringing a touch of playful glamour to the concrete jungle.
Exploring The Heart of The City
The highlight of the day, you ask? Ballet performance! I’ve always been a massive fan of the New York City Ballet and today, I treated myself to an unforgettable afternoon at Lincoln Center. The dancers were incredible – each move so precise, so full of emotion, and their graceful leaps took my breath away! The energy in the theatre was palpable, a real celebration of the art of dance.
But you know me – it wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Blog NYC post without a touch of shopping therapy!
After the ballet, I had a fantastic time browsing through the racks at a little vintage shop on Broadway. It was an absolute treasure trove! I found a darling little sequined headband (it will look fab with my tutu!), a gorgeous pastel-pink scarf that feels so silky smooth, and a few delightful floral brooches. This vintage shop really brought back those retro vibes!
From the Metro to the Rooftop
I spent the rest of the day soaking up the sights and sounds of New York – hopping on and off the metro, munching on some mouthwatering bagels, and taking in the stunning city skyline from various rooftops. I just adore how the city seems to change its mood with the time of day – there’s something magical about the way the lights dance on the buildings as dusk descends!
A Dreamy End to a Tutu-ful Day
As the evening rolled in, I found myself tucked into a little bistro by Central Park. I relished the cosy atmosphere, savouring a glass of Pinot Grigio with a light mushroom risotto (I'm still working on my ballet physique, after all!) – watching the park go from sunset hues to the magical glow of evening. And you know me - a pink tutu is a necessity, even when dining with a view!
