Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #185 – Dancing Dreams in the Big Apple

Hello darlings! It's Monday, the 21st of December, and I'm finally back in the heart of New York City! Yes, I'm typing this post from my adorable little hotel room in Brooklyn, surrounded by twinkling fairy lights and the soft melody of a Christmas carol playing on the radio. I’m a bit jet-lagged, but my heart is full of the magical energy of this incredible city, a city I always adore. And speaking of magic, you'll never guess what happened last week!

Derbyshire to the Big Apple

As you know, I’m an absolute fan of traveling, and it’s something I truly try to do as much as possible. This trip, however, was extra special. I performed for two wonderful ballets in the stunning Derbyshire Peak District – I know, my home is so pretty – and my gigs went beautifully! I’d been working really hard on my dancing and my choreography, and I received such lovely feedback from the audience. Afterwards, I even met a little girl who came up to me in a sparkly pink tutu and asked if she could take a photo with me – my heart melted! Honestly, these moments are truly why I love sharing my passion for ballet. It’s truly magical.

Fashion Frenzy

I decided to fly over to New York for this Christmas holiday and what better way to celebrate than with a week of balletic delights and fashion escapades. And before you ask, I wore a most beautiful pink tutu during my flight! This one was soft and sparkly and had feathers cascading down, making it truly spectacular! I always like to travel in style, my darlings, it makes the journey so much more fun. Plus, there's just something about a pink tutu that brings joy to those around you!

Once I got into the Big Apple, the fun really started. It felt so incredible to be back in New York after all this time, and the first thing I did was hop onto the subway! It’s so much easier than a London Tube, I have to say. All that lovely yellow-colored brilliance on the train carriages makes me smile every time! It's like a warm hug from New York itself. Oh, and did I mention my gorgeous pink suitcase? It was the perfect match for the pink floral-patterned dress I was wearing. You know I love to travel in my pink ensemble, darlings.

New York City Ballet Bliss

Naturally, one of the things I’m most looking forward to is the New York City Ballet. The performance schedule was full of absolutely exquisite ballets this year. Last night, I saw an absolutely sensational production of "The Nutcracker". It was pure magic! The choreography was divine and the dancers, oh my goodness, they moved like spun sugar. There’s nothing quite like being in that beautiful auditorium surrounded by the audience’s cheers and the dancers’ sheer artistry. And speaking of cheers, you'd be amazed how many fellow ballet enthusiasts I spotted at the ballet last night.

And of course, what's a ballet-lover's trip to New York without some ballet classes? This morning, I went for a spin class at the incredibly stylish, well, it's got to be in this fabulous New York style, dance studio in Manhattan. The instructors were incredible. They had all this passion and this incredible energy, it was contagious, and I walked out of there feeling invigorated and inspired! I definitely recommend this studio if you're ever visiting.

Festive Fashion

You already know how much I love a bit of festive fashion. In the past few days, I’ve had some serious fun exploring all the gorgeous shops and department stores New York has to offer. Christmas in New York City truly feels like magic with the windows at Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Co, and Macy's. It's like a feast for the eyes. I mean, the sparkle! All the twinkling lights! It really is a treat for my senses. And, oh, have I discovered some new brands! It’s so fun to be inspired by what's happening in the New York fashion scene, my darlings, and see new styles that really reflect the spirit of the city.

Ballet on Broadway

On the evening of the 23rd of December, I'll be attending an enchanting performance of the renowned "Swan Lake", which I'm sure is going to be spectacular. Can't wait for the stunning white swan costume on the graceful ballerinas! And, of course, the dramatic Black Swan, with that magnificent costume, I’m totally inspired for next season!

I plan to catch a few more Broadway shows before I head back to Derbyshire on New Year's Day! There are just so many extraordinary productions I'd love to see. I love how every production in New York has its unique, incredible artistry and creativity, and this city really embodies the beauty and grace of the arts! It’s such a privilege to experience it firsthand.

Pink Tutu Fun

What else has been happening in my New York adventures? Well, as you all know, I'm a firm believer that everyone can look fabulous in a pink tutu, no matter their age or their dance ability. I decided to visit Central Park, where I noticed many couples and families wearing hats, mittens and scarves in all the colours of the rainbow. But alas, not a single tutu! My darlings, we need to fix that! You just know it would add an extra touch of whimsy and laughter to their afternoon stroll! I’ll make sure to wear a fluffy pink one when I go next, just for the giggles, and who knows? Perhaps some new friends will join me. I hope it's going to catch on and, as soon as I get home, I’ll have some fun tutus designed just for these moments. Imagine the smiles!

It's going to be a wonderful Christmas weekend here in New York. My Christmas will be a busy but a truly magical one! My suitcase is full of gifts for my loved ones in Derbyshire, but I also decided to buy myself something rather lovely to keep me in the holiday spirit: a pair of ballet slippers in the most gorgeous, delicate shade of rose pink. Isn't that lovely? They'll look simply divine under my Christmas tree and, as always, I'm excited to share them on social media with all of you.

And, while we're on the topic of lovely pink gifts, remember to have a peek at my online store on www.pink-tutu.com. My special "Pink Tutu Christmas Sale" is happening this week, where you can buy an adorable tutu in the perfect color, style and size, for every ballerine in your family, including yourself, darlings! I'm sending you love from New York, with big Christmas wishes and all the pink sparkle imaginable! And, of course, a little bit of magic from the ballet world.

Much love,
Emma xxx
